About the Author

Tom Meehan, CFI is chief strategy officer and chief information security officer at CONTROLTEK, where he leads solutions development strategy and strategic initiatives. In that role, Tom also champions information security technologies and protocols for CONTROLTEK and its partners.


For thirteen years, Tom was director of technology and investigations at Bloomingdale’s, where he was responsible for physical security, internal investigations, systems, and data analytics. Before that he worked for Home Depot in loss prevention, and at several other companies in various technology, loss prevention, and operational roles.



As a writer, Tom contributes “Tom’s TEK tips,” for The D&D Daily and the “Future of Loss Prevention” column for LP Magazine, where he is retail technology editor. He is also the cohost of the “CrimeScience” podcast.
