Duped by Drover, mocked by Pete the Barncat, and busted yet again by Sally May, the Head of Ranch Security decides it’s time for a break from the grueling daily grind. Heading into the wild outback, Hank goes in search of his true love, the charming Miss Beulah. Finding her is easy, but luring her away from Plato, the annoying spotted bird dog, is not. Hank is sure he can win Beulah’s heart with the help of a powerful aphrodisiac. But other forces are conspiring against him, and getting the girl turns out to be more difficult than Hank imagined.

This book is a humorous story about Hank and Love. Although some people mat think it isn't twhat funny because of what Hank did to Belah, it is still a HCD classic in my view. -Celia P. R.

This was a gift for our grandson who is a first grader. It was a great opportunity to obtain the next book in the series which are getting hard to come by. A great series to keep a little boy reading!

The previous Hank the Cowdog book was a bit of a lull for me, but this one picked back up nicely with a fresh new idea. Instead of concentrating solely on solving crimes on the ranch, in this book, Hank and Drover go looking for love, and the adventures are worked in around that. This is a nice new take on the characters; though sometimes the old familiar faces are still brought back for seemingly no purpose but to have them in every single book, it was good to see Erickson trying something new again. This book brings out another side of the dogs' personality and keeps the storyline fresh.
