It all started with the bereavement flowers with my name on them.

Not the best way to wake up, right? I work in a flower shop. I know a funeral arrangement when I see one.

I know a killer when I see one, too. And one is standing in my hospital room right now, straight behind the man who saved my life.

I can't tell anyone the truth, because that's the fastest way to really die. So I do the next best thing. I "lose" my memory.

I fake my amnesia.

Pretending not to remember a brutal attempted murder has its perks. The killer is backing down, spending less time around me, loosening the noose.

The less I claim to recall, the more my rescuer, Duff, works to help me "remember." I hate lying to him.

But he doesn't understand that my memory is dangerous. To me. And to him.

Fooling everyone isn't easy. It's the hardest thing I've ever done.

Except it's starting to look like I've been fooling myself.

In more ways than one.

Read Book 1 in the newest series from USA Today bestselling author Meli Raine.

"...intrigue and dark humor on display in this thriller..."

While the immediate—and more compelling—tension in Raine's (A Shameless Little Bet, 2018, etc.) heart-pumping series opener comes from Lily's constant proximity to her would-be killer, the action takes place against a backdrop of secret government scandals.

Fortunately, Lily's voice is captivating, wry, and tough enough to sell this thriller. The novel ends with a cliffhanger that startles, if only because readers will have become so attached to Lily.

The False series was a rollercoaster of a ride. OMG! Had to buy it on audiobook also so I could listen as I drive. All of the stories by this author are action packed with twists and turns. Just when you think you have it figured out, something happens that was not expected. Lilly was an unfortunate mistaken identity who was now protected by the president because she and Jane were friends. The big question is did she see who tried to kill her. Duff has been tasked to keep her safe. Can the two ignore the chemistry or will they give in to temptation?

What a phenomenal start to this series. Lily is an amazing character. She's relatable and realistic. Each of the characters in this story are complex and well developed. The story plot is well written and thought out. It quickly pulled me in and kept my eyes glued to the pages until the very last word. At times, I was perched on the edge of my seat, gripping my ipad so hard that I thought I would either fall off the chair or break something. This is a story I know I will reread many times. Well done to the author!

I like the characters and the plot, but timeline seems a bit drawn out (Lily could have definitely confided in some authority not involved or come up with some plan ). instead she stays helpless and knowing puts others in danger? 3 stars are because after all that time, no answers unless you read next book.

This is False Memory, book 1 of the False series, written by Meli Raine. It’s quite a detailed and deceptive book. Who do you trust when you are afraid of everyone? Lily suffered a gunshot to the head 14 months prior and is now trying to reacclimatize into her normal life. She is scared and can’t trust anything or anyone. It’s a fast paced book and now I’m just dying to read the next two in the series! They just can’t come out fast enough!!

The premise behind this new, incredible series by Meli Raine is intensely unbelievable! The story is told from the point of view of our heroine, Lily, and she starts talking to the reader while she's still in a coma after someone tried to kill her! Since she technically can't "see" anything, she's trying to make some sense of what happened to her and why through listening to people as they come and go in her hospital room. When she finally does awaken, her main goal is to stay alive by convincing the everyone that she can't remember what happened, especially not identifying the person who tried to kill her. She's not sure who she can trust, including our Hero, Duff. Although this series is a standalone, one would get so much more out of the story by reading the Harmeless and Shameless trilogies first. Breathtaking start!

This book has so much intrigue, you can cut it with a knife. The pain, hopelessness and anger of the recovering Lily, feels real. Her fear burns bright. Excellent read. Anticipating the next in this series.

False Memory By Meli Raine Main Characters: Lily & Duff I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author. 5 out of 5 stars Holy cow! Wow, I loved this 1st book in the new 3 book series. Lily had worked in a flower shop with her parents but as the book starts out she is in a coma. This is told from Lily's POV. It starts out showing how Lily is coming out of a coma. It is so realistic. I speak from experience. Coming out of a coma and being on a vent is not pleasant and your brain seems like it is thinking clearly and when you go to write what you are thinking it looks correct to you if not a little wobbly but in reality your visitors can not make heads or tails of what you are thinking and trying to write so you can communicate. I absolutely loved this book. It is a contemporary romantic suspense and it does end on a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to read the other 2 books in this series. It is rare for me to find a romantic suspense novel that has a good balance of suspense and romance. Great job Ms. Raine!
