About the Author

As a huge fan of Tui Sutherland's Wings of Fire series, Madelyn A. Lee, at age nine, was inspired to start writing her own imaginative stories about dragons, including original artwork and music to accompany the stories. Madelyn is both a creative writer and a non-fiction writer, and shares her love of birds (ornithology) and the wonder of nature through writing and art. Feathered Friends was hatched while Madelyn was a senior in high school and published right before leaving for the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Madelyn A. Lee started drawing birds as they perched, preened, and seemingly posed on the window ledge of her 7th grade classroom in Germany. With a keen interest in birds, their unique beauty, personalities, and environments, Madelyn photographed birds and other wildlife during family travels to 27 countries. Her artistic interests include illustration using pencil, charcoal, and pastels; photography; concept art; and video game design. Feathered Friends was hatched while Madelyn was a senior in high school and published right before leaving for the Savannah College of Art and Design.
