Fetching Sweetness (Love Unleashed Series #2) by Dana Mentink

Standing Between Stephanie and Her Dream
Is One Hundred Pounds of Lovable Trouble

It should have been so simple for Stephanie Pink: Meet up with Agnes Wharton in a small town in California, retrieve the reclusive author's valuable new manuscript, and be promoted to a full-fledged literary agent.

But Agnes's canine companion, Sweetness, decides to make a break for it before Stephanie can claim her prize. Until Agnes has Sweetness safely back at home in Eagle Cliff, Washington, Stephanie will never set eyes on the manuscript she needs to make her dreams come true.

When Stephanie tracks the runaway mutt to a campground, she meets Rhett Hastings—a man also on the run from a different life and a costly mistake. Rhett agrees to help Stephanie search for the missing dog...thus launching a surprising string of adventures and misadventures.

Once Sweetness gets added to the mix, it's a recipe for love and loss, merriment and mayhem, fun and faith in the backwoods of the Pacific Northwest.

Love has gone to the dogs... I had no idea just how well Dana Mentink could do romantic comedy until I read book one in the Love Unleashed series, but I truly found it out with Fetching Sweetness. This book is wonderful! I totally loved it! From the crazy adventures of Stephanie Pink, I just love her name, and Rhett to Sweetness's habit of collecting strays in need of love, I enjoyed every minute spent reading it. There are some truly thought-provoking moments mixed in with all the fun and romance. Both Stephanie and Rhett have some important things to learn as they spend several days together in close quarters with a huge dog. And speaking of dogs, I love stories with pets in them. I just about died laughing over and over at Dana Mentink's hilarious and oh-so-very-true depiction of canine antics. Sweetness is just hysterical! You want to reach right into the book and hug him. I really can't say enough about how much I enjoyed Fetching Sweetness. The romance, the comedy, the surprising twists, all made for a perfect read that I was sorry when I turned that last page. Now I will just spend my time looking forward to the next book in this heartwarming and side-splitting series. (I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.)

Fetching Sweetness by Dana Mentink is a fun, very enjoyable read! Join Stephanie Pink as she travels from New York City to small town California. Her mission: meet up with an author, receive her most anticipated new novel, and promote to a literary agent. Sounds easy enough, right? Stephanie Pink is in for a surprise! Her journey along the West Coast will be anything but dull! How can Rhett Hastings, a former very successful CEO, and Sweetness, a slobbery fun-loving very large dog impact Stephanie’s life? Stephanie always thought she knew the plans for her life, but were those really God’s plans? This book is full of adventure, smiles, laughter and tail-wagging good times! I loved reading this book and highly recommend picking up a copy for yourself! I was given a copy of this book by the author in return for my honest opinion, which I have given.

Fetching Sweetness was a lighthearted romp of a story with a much deeper underlying message. I must admit that I struggled to connect with the main characters, Rhett and Stephanie. But even though the connection wasn’t very strong for me with these characters, there were still some very sweet and tender moments that I enjoyed reading about which were wrapped up in Fetching Sweetness. Both Rhett and Stephanie had signifigant journeys to travel both physically and emotionally in this book. Each believed that they knew the plans they had for their futures, and both of them had a lot of growing to do in understanding God’s desire to be part of their lives. Fetching Sweetness was a sweet journey with plenty of lighthearted humor. (3.5 stars) I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Sweetness is saving lives and changing destinies. Stephanie Pink is having a very bad day! When it seems that things might be looking up and her dreams may happen, disaster strikes in the form of a large, white dog. Now, armed with a mission and a stranger for help, Stephanie will attempt the impossible to make her dream of becoming a literary agent come true. Rhett Hastings, a man trying to make better decisions, decides to help Stephanie find the missing dog in exchange for her company as he transports his sister her new home. He’s hoping Stephanie is the answer to his prayer for help with his sister, and she hopes Rhett is her answer to her return the strong-willed dog in exchange for the manuscript of the decade. Sweetness will have you laughing throughout the story, and you’ll be cheering for both Stephanie’s and Rhett’s happy ending.

Stephanie Pink is all set to finally get what she has wanted for so long. All she has to do is meet author Agnes Wharton, and get her manuscript. When she gets that she will be a literary agent on her own. Sweetness is the name of Agnes Wharton's dog and Sweetness has run away. Stephanie has to find the dog before Agnes will talk to her. She meets Rhett Hastings a man who is also running away and says that he will help find the dog. After that things will never be the same. Will Rhett become her friend or just her helper? Will they start to like each other? I give this book a 4/5. Anyone who loves dogs will like this story. I was given this book by Litfuse Publicity Group and all opinions a re mine.

Stephanie Pink has one job - meet the best selling author, Agnes and get her to sign her manuscript with Stephanie's publishing company. But when Sweetness, Agnes's dog, runs away, Stephanie is tasked with finding the dog before she can take possession of the manuscript. Stephanie stumbles upon Rhett in a camp ground. Rhett is a business man, taking a break from the corporate world. He's on his way to heal his relationship with his sister and see if he even wants to return to business. The two join forces to bring a dog back to it's owner and a family back together again. Neither one gets exactly what they planned, but maybe what God planned is actually better. This was a fun, sweet story. The author used authentic, flawed characters and created a dramatic story that showcased love, forgiveness, and healing. But the humor was what made me love this book. If you mix a crazy dog, two misguided people, and and a very eccentric old woman together the result can only be humor. Faith and a kidnapping certainly didn't hurt the plot either. Overall, this was a really entertaining story that taught some lessons as well. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Christian romance with lots of humor. I received this book free of charge from Litfuse Publicity in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second book in this series that I have read and I think I enjoyed it even more than the first one. I enjoy the writing style of this author as she turns this story into a quick read. It is also cute how the books have animal themed titles. The main character was very likeable to me as she is a bookaholic just like me. I enjoyed "watching" how Rhett and Stephanie's relationship grows throughout the story. For me one of the great thing about this book is the inclusion of the dogs. I love books that have a great pet that is just like a family member. This book is full of romance, humor and encouragment - an all around good book. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Fetching Sweetness by Dana Mentink was an adorable read. Just look at the face of that dog. This book had me in tears, good tears, like the laugh out loud, deep down belly laugh, that put me in a hilarious fit that made my husband sit up and take notice of what I was reading. This book is chock full of misadventures, lovable characters- both human kind and animal kind. I enjoyed my trailer adventure with the whole mismatched clan and cried and cheered with them when truths were realized. This is also a bittersweet book where each of the characters are carrying some pretty hefty loads and they are trying each in their own way to make things right again. From living someone else’s dream to trying to fulfill another’s dream from the past, this was not just a lighthearted tale but one that held a mirror up to the reader as to what motivates us to do what we do. Are we following our own dreams, listening to the calling of God, or trying to correct the mistakes of our past? I really liked how the heroine, Stephanie Pink thought, especially her need to have books with her to read or else she would get antsy and how said novels shaped her thought process. Some pretty hilarious stuff there. So if you like romance, adventure (or should I say misadventure), dogs that can teach us a lesson, or just need a good belly laugh, I recommend this book. I was provided a copy through Litfuse Publicity for an honest review and the opinions are my own.

I really liked this fun sweet book. The first line immediately throws you into the humor that flows through the rest of the book. I found myself chuckling several times. This book is an easy read with some quirky humorous moments, fun doggy antic moments, tender romantic moments, and the realization that when you follow God's plan and not your own, life works out for the good! I loved both Stephanie and Rhett. (What's not to love about Stephanie - she's a book lover!!:)) They are both still hurting from heartbreak in their past and each are working to assuage that hurt in different ways. Rhett is trying to make up to his sister for a major mistake he made in her life by walking away from the lifestyle that he allowed to make him a ruthless man. Stephanie is pushing herself to pursue a goal that she feels will honor her brother who died way too young. When they are thrown together in a string of adventures and misadventures, they each have to realize that they need to re-evaluate their goals. And of course the dog!! LOL I loved Sweetness! And Sweetness' strays. :) *Thanks to Litfuse for a complimentary copy of this book for review purposes. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions stated are my own.*

This is the second book in the Love Unleashed series, and I have loved both of them. This was an absolutely delightful read. I couldn't help but fall in love with Sweetness and thoroughly enjoyed following his adventures. This is another wonderful book from this author with a story line and wonderful characters that made it impossible to put down after I had started it. Fetching Sweetness is a new, fun, lighthearted romance from Dana Mentink. This book is full of quirky characters, funny mishaps, and just the right amount of romance. I enjoyed getting to know Stephanie and Rhett, the main characters. Stephanie has dreams of being a literary agent and travels cross country to meet with an aloof author and get a copy of her new book. What Stephanie doesn't know is that she is embarking on the adventure of a lifetime to return the author's dog to her after he runs away. Along the way, she meets Rhett who helps her on this journey of returning the dog and getting the book. I also can't forget to mention that readers (especially dog lovers like myself) will fall in love with Sweetness who will steal your heart and keep you in stitches. You'll have to read the book to see just what kind of adventures Sweetness will take Rhett and Stephanie on and how their future unfolds as they are both dealing with their pasts. What I have come to appreciate about a story by Dana Mentink is she can address issues of reconciliation, forgiveness, etc., but also make me laugh out loud as well. I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.

Only Dana Mentink can create such charming, lovable characters--both two-legged ones and four-legged ones. Stephanie Pink is a literary agent wannabe and will do whatever it takes to acquire the new manuscript of eccentric author Agnes Wharton, even chase down the author's scruffy dog, Sweetness, and return him home. Rhett Hastings is a self-made business tycoon who has left his high-powered position to set right his past mistakes. Enter Sweetness who brings Stephanie and Rhett together as they pursue what each believes has been their calling. But can Rhett rewrite the past and put his sister's life back together as he thinks it should be? Is Stephanie's dream more about keeping her brother's memory alive rather than pursuing what is right for her? It takes Sweetness and several four-legged friends along the way to help the humans realize what is important in life. Dana Mentink has a wonderful way of combining love, faith, and humor in an absolutely delightful novel you won't want to miss. Looking forward to the next canine/human adventure! Fetching Sweetness is book two in the Love Unleashed series. I absolutely love this series and couldn't put it down. It will make you laugh, cry, be joyful and most of all love. Things aren't quite going as planned for Stephanie Pink. She has been dropped off in a small town she knows nothing about to get a manuscript from Agnes Wharton. Agnes is a recluse author that wrote an amazing book years ago. She has a verbal commitment to hand over the next book to Stephanie to make her dream of being a literary agent. Well let's just say this is where things go to the dogs when Agnes refuses to hand over the manuscript because her dog sweetness got loose. She tells Stephanie if she returns sweetness to her she will turn over the manuscript. Now she begins a journey of not only self reflection but compassion and God's love. While looking for Sweetness she ends up finding Rhett Hastings at a campground who isn't looking to get involved because he has a plan all mapped out. But Rhett agrees to help Stephanie and everyone's life is turned upside down. God has a plan for all of us but it might not be the plan we think. This book is full of adventure and some very funny scenes. I love the spatula! No spoilers you'll get it when you read this wonderful book.

FETCHING SWEETNESS is a lovable story that was laugh-out-loud funny. I absolutely adored Sweetness and I grew to love Stephanie and Rhett as well. Add in an eccentric writer and a much desired manuscript and the story goes on from there. Stephanie and Rhett were both realistic characters, very well developed, and ones that you seriously could meet on the street. Add a lost dog and a promise that if the dog is found and returned to the owner the manuscript would be given to them... and then the game is on. Sweetness is the dearest dog ever, who's mission in life is to rescue other animals. A dying geriatric dog, an abandoned baby bunny, a feral cat.... (though that rescue turned out badly for Sweetness. Fans might want to read Sit, Stay, Love if they like dog stories. I didn't care for that first book so much and almost passed on this one but I'm glad I didn't as I absolutely LOVED FETCHING SWEETNESS! Highly recommended.

And I thought...Another winner! I loved the fun and quirky story and characters. This is my second chance to read the work of Dana Mentink. This is the second book in the Love Unleashed Series. I am looking forward to many more. This story is creatively written and just fun. I read it in a couple of days because I couldn't put it down. I caught myself reading funny sections to the Cowboy. I caught myself giggling. The main character 'Sweetness' was a mix of quirkyness, goofiness and tender hearted. Who had a habit of collecting other strays. 'Sweetness' captured the hearts of the 'people' characters in the book and this reader. Miss Mentink weaves together a fun and sweet romantic story around the crazy lives of a young couple that are both facing challenging things in their lives. Each are dealing with their own questions about God and their faith. Fetching Sweetness is worthy of my 5 star rating. This review is posted at Good Reads. This review will be posted at My Journey Back and my favorite link parties including: The Art Of Homemaking, Share Your Cup, Create With Joy I received a complimentary copy from Litfuse in exchange for my honest review.

A story of purpose. Many times one chases their own dream thinking it is God's. Stephanie thinks being a literary Agent is her dream. It takes a crazy adventure and loss of things to realize it isn't her dream. Rhett, a wealthy man, gives up everything to accomplish what he thinks God wants. A burned out orchard that was his grandparents bought sight unseen teaches him a lesson. When all seems lost, both Rhett and Stephanie's eyes are opened to what God's purpose really is. Sweetness, a dog, and the wrong dog teaches both to look at things different. Hang on for an adventure like no other. I recommend all Dana's books. You will be blessed.

I thought I loved this author, but discovered I loved her even more through this book!!! Her humor shines through, spilling onto every page of this cute, sweet, lovable book. Sweetness—how can one describe a big oaf of a dog, one who has bad manners, bad breath, and eats spatulas and paper plates? I call him a big ball of love, a tender-heart for stray animals (even those who don’t wish to be rescued), devoted to his humans and just generally there for a good time; as long as you scratch that happy place on his furry belly! Can God use him to teach his human counterparts about His dreams for them? What happens when their dreams go up in flames, figuratively speaking? Sometimes, loss can be gain—in relationships, love & life in general. A story chock full of life’s lessons often learned the hard way, restoration, forgiveness and surrender to God’s will in our lives. Loved this book, love this author and I hope you will too! *I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review which I have provided here. Once again, thank you Dana for a sweet story that teaches deep Biblical lessons! Can’t wait for more!*

I had so much fun reading this book. I was hooked with the first sentence. The characters, both human and non-human, were quite a mixed group. I really loved the interaction between all the characters. There were times when I was laughing out loud and times when I was crying. There was misunderstanding, mayhem, forgiveness, and romance. It also showed that sometimes when we think we are following what God wants for us, we are really following our own plans. I liked how that was woven in throughout the book. It was a great story and I would definitely recommend this book. I was given a copy this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.

The first sentence in this sweet story was a huge invitation to a whole lot of fun and hilarity! Stephanie and Rhett are well depicted, and their stories illustrate how exacting our lives can become. We want what we can't have, and trust is something for which to strive. Strangers to one another, Stephanie and Rhett quickly become entwined in each other's lives through the vivacity of a dog who takes precedence over everything else in their lives. Once Sweetness is discovered, the story really begins. This big galoot of a dog has a habit of wreaking havoc in the lives of two people working toward life goals, hopefully discovering what God has in store for them. Their trust is questioned throughout this journey, but keeping up with Sweetness and her shenanigans is enough of a challenge that life plans are put on the back burner at times. This novel about two young adults seeking their respective life dreams, and one mammoth dog with a sense of humor is a most heartwarming, humorous and very entertaining novel! There's something for everyone in this lively tale of mishaps and mayhem. I highly recommend that you pick up a copy of Fetching Sweetness! It's like a breath of fresh air!
