This is my favorite book Holley Gerth has authored. I honestly wasn’t expecting that, but she writes this one in a vulnerable way that drew me into her stories that reminded me of my own stories. Everyone has their own hard parts of life, but Holley’s words in this book spoke right into my life as if she was cheering me on. Through her words, I remembered I can’t control others or their reaction, rested in the truth that loosening my grip isn’t giving up, and was assured as I take some steps to let God make me whole. I want to live in a bolder yet kinder way and “Fiercehearted” gave me insight into doing so.

This is a difficult book to describe; it is encouraging and food for the soul. It digs deep into the emotions and inner thoughts of what it is like to be a woman and spurs us on, as readers, to be brave and live fully. The author writes with familiarity both from the perspective of having lived through tough experiences as well as common life experiences; and as a friend sympathizing, as you tell her about your own struggles. Holley descriptions are so well articulated that the reader is drawn wholly into the narrative. She is very relatable and gives you permission to be the creature God created you to be without apology. Here is a quote from the book that speaks to that thought. “Maybe we have defined beauty all wrong. Because I have known many artists, and when a piece has what it needs to fulfill their vision for it, they stand back and say ‘Beautiful.’ And it doesn’t matter a bit to them if anyone else agrees. The artist gets the final word.” The chapters are short stories with a lesson that seem to build as the book progresses explaining and emboldening the reader to live resembling a fierce hearted woman. My favorite chapters were the ones where she talked about her daughter, Lovelle. It brought tears to my eyes the way God granted her the blessing of becoming a mother, such a sweet story. I would highly recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell in exchange for an honest review.

This book met me where I am right now. A woman who is frazzled and determined, tired and committed. In the print version, I turned it into a devotional of sorts by writing out prayers after each short chapter. I also listened to the audio version, and because the author narrates the book, it felt like we were sitting down across from each other. Her vulnerability and realness has challenged me to be more open about where I'm living. Not for the sake of being perfect, or pretty, or loved, but because I know who I am and Whose I am and because of that I can love from a position of strength. This book simply whispered hope and that I am seen into my soul at a time I desperately needed that reminder. I highly recommend this book.

I was soooo excited when I found out that Holley Gerth was releasing Fiercehearted. I was a little nervous when I saw the cover. It didn't have the same style as the covers of her other books and I LOVE the covers of her other books. But you can't judge a book by the cover, right? Then I started reading it. It's different from the other books of hers that I've read. At first, I didn't like it. There are very short chapters in which she relates something from her life with an application point. I kept reading and it didn't take long before I LOVED IT! The style of this book is a wonderful way to touch on topics and reminders that we all need to hear. Not only did I soak in all of the wonderful advice Holley gave in the book, but with every chapter I read, I felt a little less alone in some of my own thoughts (and embarrassing moments). I highly recommend this book as an addition to your quiet time or to read if you just need some encouragement and a cheerleader.

This book is a must read for all women, no matter your age or what season of life you are in! We know that as believers, God has given us all that we need to live a godly life and a life fully surrendered to Him. A life that is vibrant and energetic. A life that doesn’t compare itself to others or believe the lies that the enemy whispers to us. However, too often we fall into the comparison trap, or believe the enemies lies, or feel unworthy or unequipped. In this book, Holley comes alongside us and reminds us that we were created to be fierce-hearted women. Those who “look life in the face and say, ‘You can’t beat me.’ Know love is a risk but reach out anyway. Understand kindness takes real courage.” It’s like the pep talk from our best friend that reminds us that we have what it takes, we can be brave, and we aren’t in this alone.

Fierce? Braver than you ever have been? If you are longing to grow stronger into the woman you were born to be then this book will speak to you! Holley Gerth is a best selling author, counselor and certified life coach who not only encourages you but walks along side you and shares her own stories with you. Not only does she share her life and heart with her reader but she does this in a way that makes you feel less alone. Each chapter would bring me to a place of wanting more of Him and to be more FOR Him. It’s SO good that I’m going to read it again and you can join me! You are invited to do a book study with the author and some of her friends.

Holley is like an old friend, in that I've read several of her books and it's always so comfortable slipping into a new one. Holley has such an easy style of writing that is just like sitting down to chat with a friend you haven't seen in a while in some cozy spot with a lovely pot of tea between you (and must have cupcakes!) I love that no matter what the topic Holley is warm, funny, and real. She doesn't balk at sharing the messiness of her own life, just so you can know you are not alone. And that, is pretty much the point of Fierce Hearted. You are not the only one. I am not the only one. We're in this mess called life together and we're feeling and experiencing the same stuff. It was easy to see myself in Holley's words. I don't know how many times I read a passage and thought, "Oh my gosh, I do that!" or "I feel just like that!" or "That is soooo me!" I fit the description of a woman who has allowed fear of what others might think to stop me from doing and experiencing so much in this life. Like a true friend, Holley doesn't just tell us we're doing it wrong, she tells us how to let go of our expectations and comparisons and fears, to turn our faces boldly to the wind and live fully, to partake of all God offers us. As a licensed counselor, her advice is spot on and shared from personal experience. She puts her heart out there with yours. My heart was so touched by Fierce Hearted and I am still pondering many of the points. I am also excited to pass my copy on to someone I know who is nearly paralyzed by fear because I hope Holley's loving advice and wisdom will help set her free. This is such an excellent book and I recommend it for all women. We can all stand to live a little (or a lot) more fully!

This book is wonderful! The read is easy with concise chapters -- you can just pick up the book for a few minutes and get inspired. Holley speaks to a woman's heart like no other writer I know. She gets "inside" the emotions and thoughts of women and provides encouragement and inspiration. Her positivity is contagious. Holley's focus on moving past our negative thoughts and into the confidence we have as daughters of the King is what the women of today need to hear!

Holley’s best book, yet. Her honest open warmth for women comes out so clearly. We are more similar, than different and behind all our brokenness, Christ makes us fiercehearted women. As fiercehearted women, we celebrate being brave, courageous and without fear. We step out and tell our stories.

Do you ever read a book that is just so perfectly timed for where you're at? That's what Fiercehearted by Holley Gerth was for me. I have read a couple of her other books and been so encouraged by her kind tone and warmth. But friends, this book was unlike any of her others. There was a depth to this book that was unlike her others because it was just. so. vulnerable. In Fiercehearted, Holley graciously shares about the ups and downs she's working through as a woman who's trying to love Jesus with her life.

I loved this book! It was such a wonderful read. Not only is the content great and inspiring, but the format makes this book easy to digest in small chunks, allowing us to focus deeply on each tasty morsel of a chapter. I recommend this book to every woman because we are ALL Fiercehearted!

I absolutely love this book! I have read other books by Holley Gerth, and loved them as well, but Fiercehearted is on a whole different level. Holley is so genuine, vulnerable, and down to earth in this book. She shares past experiences from her life, and no matter what experience she shares, she finds a way to bring it around to God and gives Him all the glory. From meeting her husband, to going through the pain and heartbreak of infertility, to adopting her daughter when her daughter was 20 years old, and even now, the joy of being a first time NaNa! Through every joy, every trial, every heartbreak, and every blessing, Holley gives God all the glory and continues to strive to be a fiercehearted woman!  Holley has a heart for helping women become comfortable in their own skin. She is not only an amazing writer, but also a counselor and life coach. In this book, she shows us how to avoid the "comparison trap", embrace our lives, be the women that God created us to be by using the gifts He blessed us with. To live fully and to love bravely, and to be a fiercehearted woman!  During the launch of this book Holley had a giveaway and one lucky winner would receive an hour long phone call from Holley! That lucky winner was me! On the evening of the scheduled phone call I was a bit nervous, wondering if I could think of enough things to talk about for an hour. I was so blessed and touched by our phone call. Holley was so easy to talk to, and seemed like I had known her for years! She prayed for some specific things for me, and it was the most heartfelt, beautiful prayer I have ever heard! Thank you Holley! You truly touched my life through that phone call and through this book!  This book is written in short chapters and is such an easy read. I had a hard time putting it down, and plan to read it again! I have already bought copies to give to other women in my life that I know will be just as blessed as I have been by reading Fiercehearted! I give Holley Gerth and Fiercehearted 5 stars!!!!! I was given a free copy of this book from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, in exchange for my honest review. This is my honest review.

This is the first book I have read by Holley Gerth. I am going to have to read some of her other ones now because this was so good. I loved the honesty in this book. The author shared personal experiences in each chapter, then related them to how she is the woman she is today. I was able to relate to quite a bit and I appreciated the insight that she gave. She was very real throughout this book and I honestly really enjoyed it. I highly recommend this book to every woman. I received this book from the publisher and all statements are my honest opinion.

Loved this book by Holley Gerth! Every chapter it's own little story and every story it's own little lesson in faith, hope, strength, grace, bravery, struggle, kindness, friendship..... life. Holley ministers to the hearts of women by encouraging them to live fully in who God created them to be. Her vulnerable, heart-wide-open writing makes you feel as if you're sitting in a room together, sharing stories of a long and intimate friendship. This book will touch your soul and remind you that you're not alone. As Holley says on pg. 183, "Let's remember that we are all still in the middle of the messy, beautiful work of becoming."

The message of Fiercehearted is the reminder that we can be both weak and strong, messy and beautiful, afraid and courageous. I don’t about you, sweet friend, but that’s a message I need. "Let’s make this our declaration: instead of trying to have it ALL TOGETHER, we will dare to do real, messy imperfect life all together." Holley Gerth, Fiercehearted: Live Fully, Love Bravely

Fiercehearted by Holley Gerth had me nodding agreement again and again. Through her stories of childhood and resulting lessons, she encourages all to live fully and love bravely. Holley is not afraid to tackle fear, comparison, perfectionism, grief and more. She takes these topics and scatters grace, God’s truth and understanding throughout. Fiercehearted is not for the fainthearted, but is sure to capture your heart and fill you with reminders of the beautiful you God created.

“Fiercehearted” by Holley Gerth is a life-giving book! It’s a breath of fresh air in the times we live in. Through short stories and applicable quotes from other authors, Holley leads the reader through her journey with Jesus to become a “fiercehearted” woman! I found myself in so many of her stories. Her book instilled in me a greater desire to walk more closely with Jesus to truly “live fully” and to “love bravely”. In Chapter 16 she talks about wearing a specific hat and feels unworthy to wear it. "The gift itself is the only requirement for you to use it. We have every right to wield with force and holy wildness all he has placed within us." Wow, I love that! I want His “holy wildness”. This is one book that I will definitely read again and share with friends! I received a pre-release copy from Revell for my honest opinion of this book.

I am a Fiercehearted woman! When my heart was deeply wounded a few years ago, I determined that I wanted a complete healing. I didn't want to forever bear the scars of my wounding. I fought hard against the bitterness and anger and self-pity that took root initially, going before the Lord daily for deep and sometimes painful scrutiny of my heart, allowing Him to point out my wrong and hurtful thinking and asking Him to transform me with truth. God healed my broken heart. It was all Him, and I gladly give Him all the credit. The healing is so fresh that I still thank God daily for it. But here's what you need to know. I put the work in that God required for my healing. I spent time with Him, memorized scripture, chose to forgive over and over and and kept my heart soft by choosing to love. It took time, work, determination and lots of grace. The bottom line is I fought fiercely to keep my heart engaged instead of allowing it to harden. And I didn't stop fighting for a healthy heart after years had passed and I still felt the sting of rejection or the pain of my loss. I didn't give up and I didn't give in. You shouldn't either. That's why I love Holley Gerth's new book Fiercehearted. You're going to love it too. Holley reminds us, through simple vignettes of her own life experiences, that we are all fiercehearted women , stronger and more determined than we often give ourselves credit for. She encourages us to fight through life's setbacks, struggles and losses to keep our hearts soft and malleable in the Potter's hands. And she propels us to engage with grace when we'd rather shrink back with resignation or lash out in fear. Whether your heart has been broken or simply become weary, I encourage you to read Holley's new book. It's the kind you can read a few pages a night, savoring Holley's reflections, and lay your head down to rest encouraged and soothed.

Fiercehearted is a totally amazing must read. I have had a most difficult year. My youngest niece lost a baby boy at a 104 days old the morning after Mother's Day. Dealing with my brother's wives has always been a challenge, so the timing of this book has been a true Blessing! I often relate to Holley's writing as we are both introverted and have never physically given birth to children of our own but never more than in Fiercehearted. I wanted to be done with humans everywhere for always and always. Except I knew I still was one. And I sensed Jesus-very kind and tender and knowing far more than I what it is to feel crucified, waiting quietly for me to decide what to do? (pg.19) Kindness comes from love. Jesus was kind, but He was not nice. He spoke the truth from His heart. (pg. 151) Thank you to Revell books for providing me with a free review copy of this book. All opinions in this blog are my own.

Another great read by Holley Gerth! In this book Holley encourages and empowers all of us women to become the fiercehearted women that we are capable of becoming in Christ. This has become my favorite Holley Gerth book without a doubt. It was truly life changing!

Are you a Fierce Hearted woman? Would you say that you are a woman who "looks life in the face and says, 'You can't beat me''? Or a woman who "chases Jesus with a tender, world-changing wildness"? Maybe your answer is "YES! That's me!" or maybe it's "No, I'm the opposite of Fierce Hearted." Either way, either answer, Holley Gerth's new book (that launched today by the way!) is for you. Trust me. Holley has this sweet voice that she uses to write, but at the same time it's not so sweet that you can ignore her challenging you to live with a fierce heart. I really appreciate that about her writing. Sweet and to the point, while being fierce and heart-changing. In Fierce Hearted, Holley walks us through some of her own personal stories to show us how we can live lives that are free and full of joy, purpose, courage and perseverance. All while pointing us to the One who created us to be strong, fierce hearted women. So, go get yourself this book. And join Holley, me and many others in living life as fierce hearted women who are holding "on to our belief that God is never, ever done with our stories (pg193)."

I've read all of Holley's books now and I may go as far as to say this one is my favorite (which is saying a lot). Holley writes in a friendly, easy to read tone that sounds more like she's writing to a friend than to someone she doesn't know. Her book shares stories and lessons that are easy to relate to, regardless of age. I loved this book and would recommend it to everyone. Please, please read it.

Author Holley Gerth wrote of this book, “When you get to the end of these pages, I want you to also be able to say with certainty, ‘I’m not the only one.’ I want all of us to feel less alone and more comfortable in our God-sewn skin and a little surer that we are a force to be reckoned with in this world.” And she accomplished her purpose with me! Recommended!

I have read several of Holley Gerth's other books, and they are always so encouraging, down-to-earth; I knew this one would be as well. But "Fiercehearted" has really settled in to the depths of my heart, and is causing me to re-evaluate my thinking and my perception of myself, my relationships, the world around me. Holley's writing style is so easy to read, as others have said, it does feel like you're sitting having coffee with her. I appreciate that each chapter is short (just a few pages long), and whether I have just a few minutes to open the book and read, or I have an hour to spend reading, there is much to be grasped; it is an easy book to pick up any time. I look forward to sharing this book with many of my friends.

There are few books out there where I weep and say "I'm not the only one!! I'm not the only one who feels that way! I'm not the only one who has felt that way! I'm not alone..." But this book...this book is one of them. So much goodness wrapped up in it. In a world full of so much uncertainty, one thing is certain. We all have the power to be a fiercehearted woman. We all have it in us to live fully and love bravely. Holley does an amazing job of connecting with the reader, using her own journey to show us the way. Run, don't walk to pick this read up. You won't regret it and you will want to go out and be a #fierceheartedwoman today
