A light and sweet historical romance, Finding Miss McFarland was a lovely novella. It was a nice romance that I quite enjoyed reading. Delaney was a good heroine, though she could be frustratingly stubborn. Her whole thing about marrying a fortune hunter to avoid love was irritating and made her actions somewhat baffling. However, she was a strong heroine, so I was okay with her. Griffin, on the other hand, was very sweet. I loved how doting he was with his sisters and how determined he was to win Delaney over. I absolutely adored him. The romance was sweet, though not particularly remarkable. They definitely had chemistry together. I thought they were a good couple. The plot moved quickly and the story was enjoyable. Overall, this was a lovely novella that I quite liked. Romance lovers, if you want a nice, quick read, you might want to check this book out. *I received a complimentary copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

I've become a huge fan of Ms. Lorret's work this summer and I'm pleased to see the final Wallflower finally have her story. Like the previous two, Finding Miss McFarland is sweet and fun, with just the right amount of sensuality. The h/H motivations and chemistry are developed nicely here and conclude in a satisfying manner. My only complaint is that we have to wait until next spring for more from the author! :)

Every now and then you open the pages of a book and remember why you fell in love with historical romance in the first place.  I recently experienced this first hand while Finding Miss McFarland by Vivienne Lorret.  The third installment in Ms. Lorret’s Wallflower Weddings series stars two wonderfully developed main characters and a handful of colorful and entertaining secondary characters.  Set amidst the backdrop of The Season and dealing with the age old dilemma of wanting to be loved for who you are rather than how much money you are worth, Ms. Lorret’s story kept me turning the pages from start to finish.  The oldest daughter of a wealthy family, Delaney McFarland wants a different future than what her father has planned.  Determined to have more control over her life, and her money, than is normal for a woman of her time, Delaney plans to find a husband willing to settle for a “marriage in name only” and only half of her dowry.  Especially since her father doubled her dowry due to “the incident” that occurred during her debut ball.  Ms. Lorret does a really great job developing Delaney’s character; a woman before her time Delaney is smart, headstrong and has a lively personality.  She’s also afraid of finding herself in the same kind of “loveless” marriage her parents have so she’s determined to “marry for money”.  An eligible bachelor who will shortly inherit a fortune and a title, Griffin Croft can’t forget the redhead who made him the center of gossip because of “the incident” that occurred during her debut ball.  When he “accidentally” hears her making a proposition to a notorious rake, Griffin is determined to save the woman from herself.  Especially since fate seems to keep throwing them together.  Ms. Lorret does an equally good job developing Griffin’s character; he’s handsome, intelligent and honorable.  Determined to help his mother and sister’s since his father has taken ill and he’s been named his uncle’s heir, Griffin plans to make a “smart” marriage but can’t help being attracted to the outspoken redhead who has made a favorable impression on his family. The romance between Delaney and Griffin is sweet, spicy and full of lively dialogue.  Thinking they are complete opposites, and with the taint of “the incident” between them, they have no delusions about who they are and what they want.  They just don’t realize that they are meant to be together.  Ms. Lorret does a good job developing their relationship and the dialogue between them and their friends and family is fun and lively.  It’s also great watching how the secondary characters conspire to bring them together. Will Delaney realize her fears are holding her back from the love of her life?  Will Griffin discover how much he loves Delaney before she can get away?  You’ll have to read Finding Miss McFarland to find out.  This is the first book I’ve read in the series and I hope we get to see these characters again.  I just picked up the first two books in the series and can’t wait to read them.    I received a complimentary copy of this book courtesy of the publisher for a book tour in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Delaney is determined to marry a pauper and take half her dowry and live on her own. The last thing she expects is the man she had an incident with in her debut to catch her interest and or him to have his eye on her. Griffin can't seem to make a decision about who he'd like to marry to help carry on the family legacy. He knows of Delaney's plan but he can't seem to stay away from her. Delaney is very unique for historical romance. Her care for those looked down upon in society is nothing I've read before. She's is unshakable in her determination not to marry for love. Griffin is very different from the other men in the series. Who doesn't love a built boxer in historical clothing? He's very single minded when it comes to Delaney and trying to protect her from herself. They're undeniably very like each other and extremely attracted to each other. The story flowed perfectly though at the end I would have teeny tiny bit more closure. After reading this entire series in 5 days, I have to say that Vivienne Lorret has taken over as my favorite historical romance author. If you enjoy historical romances that are as steamy as a warm pond in the cool of a summer morning I highly recommend Finding Miss McFarland and entire Wallflower Wedding series.

The story of Miss McFarland was funny and entertaining with just the right amount of Regency period angst. Ms Lorret did a great job of developing the characters and plot.
