Leander McCormick literally fished his way around the world. These many miles produced a catalog of stories in his book. Having angled for and caught dozens of different species of fish, McCormick dryly comments, "Some were more sport to catch than others, but I assert that all fishing is good, though some is better."

Leander J. McCormick was an American inventor, manufacturer, and philanthropist and a member of the McCormick family of Chicago. He and his brothers are considered among the fathers of modern agriculture due to their part in the development of the McCormick Reaper and the International Harvester Company.
