Overview

Flat Line by J.M. Madden

Former Navy SEAL Parker Quinn is restless and depressed since he was forced to leave the Teams after his devastating injury. Working at the Lost and Found Investigative Service, finding a purpose, has made a difference in his confidence. He understands his purpose has changed, and physically he's not the man he used to be, but the need to serve still pounds through his blood.
When his former commander calls with a supposedly simple covert surveillance case, he's all over it. Until he discovers the surveil-ee is none other than lawyer Andromeda Pierce, a woman who destroyed his heart more than any sniper bullet ever could.
Andromeda is prosecuting a very dangerous man, with even more dangerous terrorist connections. When those connections decide to take her out because she's getting too close, Parker rides to the rescue, taking a bullet in the process.
Now they're on the run, trying to find a missing witness and fighting their attraction the entire way.
Will she give him a second chance to be the man she wanted, or will she leave his heart flat-line?

Love all of JM Madden's books, this was no exception. Hope there are more stories to continue this series or more follow up on the characters in this series. Highly recommend. Mjw

Parker's healed body may not be the powerful fit machine it used to be, but his mind and skills are still sharp enough to protect the woman he once passionately loved when the assistant DA's life is threatened by a terrorist cell and her witnesses are knocked off one by one. Protecting Andromeda and her witness becomes the primary focus despite the pain to his body and heart. I loved how this brave but vulnerable man rolled with the punches and kept moving forward. The strength in all the characters had me wanting to read more. Will this be the begining to a new branch of the Embattled Hearts series? I would loved to see more and read more.

JM Madden's addition to this Sleeper SEALs series is a suspenseful and emotional story of second chances. As I was reading it, I found myself very anxious about what was to happen next to the main characters Andromeda & Parker but also the secondary characters of Roz & Mac. Romantic suspense are my favorite kind of stories to read and JM Madden is exceptional at delivering this type of book. The Lost and Found series is one of my very favorites. I would recommend this book and any of her books to anyone looking for good romantic suspense.

Oh my, I absolutely loved this book. I have read 8 other Sleeper SEALS stories, all very good but until recently only one was my favorite. This one, just topped that one off. If you are new to the series, rest assure that each story is a stand alone. The common denominator is Commander Lambert. A man assigned to recruit former Navy SEALs for solo missions. These men work more like ghosts, so if something happens to the mission no one will acknowledge being their employer. The goal, to eliminate domestic terrorist cells. In this one our main characters are Parker Quinn and Andromeda Pierce. These two met over a decade ago, had a two week affair that left them both hurting and going their separate ways. He to pursue a career he loved, she to pursue her dream of being a lawyer. Now she is in danger since she is trying to prosecute a terrorist. Commander Lambert sends him to keep her safe. From the moment they meet again, she is in constant attack. As engaging as the plot was with all the action, flying bullets, terrorists, etc, what was most touching were the characters. This talented author takes us into the pages of the story and we feel we know these two and want to just hug them . The physical and emotional pain Parker had to endure while serving his country is heartbreaking. A reminder that we need to honor and help our returning troops. But it’s also a heartwarming and touching story showing that love , can overcome many obstacles and is worth taking the risk. The secondary characters Mac and Roz were great and I would like to see them having their own story. Kudos to Ms Madden for this very well written story. I was gifted a copy of this book . The opinions expressed are solely my own.
