Overview

This book features testimonials from 4 backpacking manufacturers and a world thru-hiker. Quickly learn to embrace sub-lightweight backpacking with full utility and comfort. FAST's "777" solution is only 7-17 lbs. over 2-7 days, including ample food and a bear-resistant food container, It is ideal for anyone desiring a breezy carrying weight, including adolescent, petite, senior, pre-natal, and those with joint discomfort. FAST is also valuable for cycle tours, river trips, and nomadic travel. Tim Gnazale pulls from his experience as a lifelong backpacker and former backcountry ski patroller.

FAST is not a field manual geared for hard-core minimalists. It is a total solution crafted for mainstream hikers' education, safety, comfort, and transition to an ultralight method of travel. Included are prioritized equipment reports for high-tech navigational devices, shelters, and stoves, saving weeks of research. Techniques in camping, navigation, shelters, knots, sleeping, safety, attire, weather, conditioning, packing logistics, footwear, emergency preparedness, injury prevention, wildlife encounters, pests, food, and camping effectiveness are unveiled. Uniquely, 256 URLs to equipment and experts' forums have one-click access from a free Word file, while free book updates are available at fastbackpacker.com.
