Will she ever be able to stop running, even when she believes she's finally safe?

Heiress to a vast fortune, Victoria Cole has everything she wants, including the perfect fiancé. Having left two other men at the altar, Victoria is sure that now she's found her true love and will finally live happily ever after. Tom Cushman's number one priority is protecting his clients, which means no personal entanglements. But he's never guarded someone as beautiful and winsome as Victoria. After a near-kidnapping, the wedding is cancelled, and Tom hides Victoria at Cape Cod's Race Point Lighthouse until her attacker can be found. Appointed as assistant light keeper with Victoria posing as his wife, Tom believes the isolation of the lighthouse will keep her safe.

As Victoria struggles to live without familiar luxuries, her heart betrays her with growing feelings for her protector. Determined to help Tom stop fleeing from his haunted past, can the runaway bride learn to face her own fears? With the attacker closing in, will both of them ever be able to stop running and find the safety they long for?

Forever Safe continues with another generation of lighthouse keepers! The characters are well developed. Tom, son of a lighthouse keeper, is running from past hurts and wealthy Victoria fears the future but they learn to give their hurts and fears to God. I find lighthouses fascinating and am always happy to find another book set around a lighthouse. Jody Hedlund always writes delightful stories with a touch of suspense. I received an advance e-book of Forever Safe which releases June 1 in exchange for my honest opinion.

Victoria Cole, daughter of very rich parents, never has been one for want. Engaged to be married to one Mr. Nathaniel Winthorp the III, her life course seems to be set. Until the day her bodyguard Arch is attacked and almost killed right in front of her! Her father then hires Tom Cushman to guard her, and he decides to take her somewhere remote and hidden away from danger. Can he protect her and keep her forever safe? On Tom’s part, he has vowed to never get personally involved with his clients. He’s always guarded older women so as not to have any emotional attachment. Until that is, he met Victoria and learned he would be guarding her instead of her mother. Personality clashes ensue between these two, she takes life much less seriously than he does and it causes sparks to fly between them. From there, it’s one fast-paced ride of their lives! The author does a wonderful job of showing how each of these characters’ deal with hardships and fears through the reliance of the Lord. I especially connected with Zelma, Tom’s mother. She lived with disability every day but it never dimmed her faith. There were so many great spiritual nuggets, I felt like I was sitting at her feet and hearing them firsthand from her mouth! She was very wise in the ways of the Lord & I loved watching Victoria grow under her ministrations. I also loved watching Tom grow spiritually as he remembers everything his father taught him about life and love. Not only by words, but through his actions. I almost wished they were real so they could adopt me into their family! There was also a bit of mystery in the story as I tried to figure out who was after Victoria and why. Once the truth was revealed, it had me reeling backwards on my feet! It had my heart pounding in a few places and rooting for Tom to once again come to her rescue. This was a story that had many layers; a cast of lovable, relatable, and flawed characters; and laced with many spiritual lessons learned through hardships, opposition and overcoming our fears. It will capture you heart & soul, and resonate with you for a long time after the book is closed! These are a few of my favorite lines from the author’s notes in the back. I hope they encourage you as much as they did me: “If, like Victoria and Tom, you’re running away from past hurts or future fears, I pray that you’ll learn to run to the One who promises to walk besides us through our darkest valleys or storm, but He will hold our hand and stay by our side. With Him, we will be forever safe” **I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review which I have provided here. Thank you Jody for allowing God to speak to me through your stories and reminding me where my safe harbor is! **

I have been a fan of Jody Hedlund for years and read all her books. I love how she always incorporates a bit of actual history into her books. Forever Safe takes us back to visit some characters from a previous book which was very nice indeed. Victoria Cole has a stalker and is about to be married. Her father hires Tom Cushman to be her bodyguard after her stalker seriously wounds her previous guard. Victoria does not want a bodyguard and wants to be able to do whatever she wants whenever she wants. Tom proves to be a restricting presence in her life. Especially since he insists on removing her from the city and all she loves. The spiritual aspect of the book is wonderful, as always. We, as believers, sometimes allow fear to grip us and cause us to walk in paths that only bring heartache and hindrance to our lives. God wants us to live in faith and not fear. His ways are the best ways if we'd only allow His will. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to other readers. I am not looking forward to Jody's next release. *I was provided with a copy of this book by the author in exchange for my review. My opinions are my own.

In this fourth of the Beacons of Hope series, Jody Hedlund has moved from lighthouses of the Great Lakes to the East Coast, but the theme of hope still runs through the book as it did through the others. Victoria Cole, who played a small role in the last book appears as the main character this time. Her parents were first introduced in the novella that began the series. Now the story comes full circle as Victoria seeks to find her way into the future while her life is threatened. After her bodyguard is almost killed in an attack intended for her, Tom Cushman agrees to fill in until he recovers. His father is the light keeper at Race Point Lighthouse at the northern tip of Cape Cod, which is where he and Victoria’s father decide she will be the safest until the attacker is caught. Although hope is a theme of the book, Victoria and Tom at times almost despair of any hope as Tom struggles with his past and she struggles with her future. I think many people face similar issues in life. They either have a history that includes actions and events that continually drag them down because they cannot forgive themselves or they live in fear of things over which they have no control. This story teaches the importance of overcoming those things in order to move forward and live the life that God intends for each person. I recommend this book not only because the story is very interesting but because of the truths that are uncovered. I hope there will be more books like this from Jody Hedlund.

The only daughter of a wealthy businessman, and heiress to a vast fortune, Victoria Cole has lived a charmed life, and is preparing to complete the fairy tale by marrying Nathaniel a kind young with a family fortune of his own. But as the wedding draws closer, Victoria finds her life being threatened by malicious hi-jinks. So her father hires renown bodyguard, Tom Cushman to keep her safe. But as danger nears, they are forced to take drastic measures to keep Victoria safe, and she must trust Tom completely, marrying him temporarily for convenience and moving out to the coast where his parents keep a lighthouse, until the danger is past. Will Victoria be able to face her fears and let go of the insecurities that haunt her? The Cross of Hope comes full circle with the story of Victoria Cole, daughter of Isabelle and Henry from the very first novella in this fantastic series. Victoria has always traveled in high society, keeping up with the latest fashions, and attending various parties, but when it comes to marriage she has never made it down the aisle in either of her previous attempts. Though pampered, and used to a privileged life, Victoria has a big heart for others, and is willing to give living at the lighthouse a try. Tom Cushman has protected many clients in the past, even royalty, but none as young and enchanting as Victoria Cole. But when an old friend asks him as a favor to take the job, he can't refuse. Tom is an honorable man, stealthy, and observant, who is skilled at his job, and is ready to take every precaution in order to keep Victoria safe. This was a fast moving read, and I could scarce put it down, the plot was well done, and every page tingled with tension. The chemistry between Victoria and Tom was strong, and their relationship grew throughout the storyline. I really liked how Victoria learned to live at the lighthouse, and found that she didn't need all the things that she had before to be happy. And Tom's parents were incorrigible! Overall, a well crafted story that I loved beginning to end, I loved the suspense and romantic tension. Victoria grows and in a way it is a coming of age, because she learns to stand up and fight for who she loves. An utterly fantastic conclusion to the Beacons of Hope Series, I would highly recommend it! Forever Safe by Jody Hedlund is the fourth and final book in the Beacons of Hope series. It is not published by Bethany House, as the rest of the series was, but is instead self-published. This story follows Virginia Cole, the daughter of Henry Cole, who was mentioned towards the end of book three in the series and whose personal story is featured in the prequel novella. Virginia Cole is a very wealthy heiress who has a stalker. She plans to be married but it seems as if someone is against her every attempt. When her bodyguard is hurt protecting her, her father scrambles to find another man for the job. Tom Cushman is bodyguard who usually only takes jobs watching over older ladies, but when his friend is hurt on the job and asks him to take over watching Virginia Cole, he feels that he can't deny his friend's request. When she's put in more serious danger, Tom feels that Virginia must going into hiding so that he can protect her. But can he protect her from himself? I loved this book. There was suspense and there was romance, and I read through it very quickly. This is a great summer read that I would highly recommend! Thank you so much to Jody Hedlund for providing me with an electronic copy of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own and were not required to be positive.

Tuesday, July 5, 2016 Forever Safe by Jody Hedlund, © 2016 Beacons of Hope Series, Book Four May, 1876 ~ New York City Victoria Cole has managed to attract a lot of attention. The day of her third attempt at marriage has arrived. Unforeseen, the driver of the carriage to the wedding grounds has been switched and has taken off with her. The driver's plans are foiled, as Victoria hits him in the back with her flying shoe, distracting him right at the bend of the road. The horse takes the occasion to continue forward right to the beach and the carriage wheels are slowed in the sand. Days before the wedding, her father, Henry Cole, of Cole Enterprises, has hired Tom Cushman as her bodyguard. He has his hands full from the beginning. With all of the commotion, and a threatening note left at the house, Henry and Tom devise a plan to keep Victoria safe. A Cape Cod lighthouse becomes the destination much to her peril, without a cook or maid to assist her. What can possibly happen in 30 days? Anything to change the course of Victoria's view of life and alleviate her fears? Learning to cook, sew, and wash and hang clothes become the entry. And, love and acceptance from those around her leaving her room to grow. She finds strengths she never knew she possessed, and unexpected weaknesses that encompass her with joy. Hidden away, she discovers her true self. Tom must come to terms with his past to continue with his today. Guilt taken on beyond what he could have controlled has kept him prisoner. Freedom is ahead for Tom if he will receive the open door to all that is before him. Immediately after the last page, I returned to the beginning and began reading ~ until I noticed I was at page 105! So fun to be absorbed in the story again, with the descriptive writing pulling you in to exactly where they are: new beginnings. Jody Hedlund has written a strong story of forgiveness, acceptance, and the will to go forward. Her characters find in their journey ~*hope*~ attainable with trust and perseverance; a Love that is forever safe. ... Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings! ... Psalm 61:4 NLT ***Thank you to author Jody Hedlund for surprising me with a review copy of Book 4, Forever Safe. Victoria Cole's life has been threatened, and her bodyguard attacked. Her new bodyguard, Tom Cushman, insists on secretly locating her to a remote location where she will be kept safe until the attacker is found. The Race Point Lighthouse on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, kept by Tom's father, is certainly secluded enough, but Tom insists that they travel as man and wife in order to not arouse suspicion. Victoria must make the adjustment from being pampered to taking care of her own needs, as well as of those around her. There is hilarity and heartbreak as Tom and Victoria masquerade regarding their union, until the attacker is found and Victoria is finally safe. I enjoyed this fourth installment of the Beacons of Hope series, perhaps more than the others. When the reader can't help but feel the tension between desire and propriety, feel the sweat trickle down her back, hear the crunch of broken glass beneath her feet, and wrinkle her nose at the stench of her captor, you know you have good writing. Author Jody Hedlund has written another thoroughly enjoyable novel full of love, laughter, healing, and suspense that fans will certainly enjoy. Those who are new to the series will have no trouble picking it up and fully appreciating it; it stands alone well. I received an ARC ebook from the author in exchange for my honest review, which I have given.

I must say how thrilled I am that Jody Hedlund has given us another installment in the Beacons of Hope series. I must also say that I’m pretty sure this one’s my favorite. Tom is completely swoonworthy as Victoria’s temporary bodyguard. He seems brooding and reserved at first glance but that’s just because he’s tamping down his flirtatious side in order to survive the assignment. His fun-loving side has been repressed for much longer, thanks to personal family tragedy, but we still see glimpses of it struggling to the surface the longer he’s in Victoria’s presence. Victoria has phenomenal character growth in Forever Safe! I loved watching her transform from a naive rich-girl runaway bride (third time doesn’t look like it’s going to be the charm either) into a woman who learned to thrive no matter her circumstances. She and Tom both wrestle with real issues – fear of an uncertain future, guilt from a tragic past – and the message of our heart’s safety found in God alone is thankfully not viewed as an “easy out” but a hard-won truth. And - God bless James. James is Tom’s dad. James loves Tom’s mom Zelma. James loves Zelma ardently. James wants Tom to love Victoria ardently too. And it’s thanks to James’ frequent and less than subtle prodding (“Kiss her like you mean it.”) that Tom’s carefully held-in-check restraint finally dissolves and we are treated to some mighty-fine, go-stick-your-head-in-the-freezer, level 5 kisses. WHEW. I mean… I can’t even… Just WHEW. Intensely passionate but full of respect for Victoria – and for the promises he made to her father. WHEW. A dash of suspense, a lot of heart, some splashes of humor, and a treasury of wisdom complete the ensemble, and all of these elements together – including the characters and the KISSES (good gracious) – make Forever Safe a truly engaging read from start to finish. Tom, Victoria, James, and Zelma are some of my favorite Jody Hedlund characters to date, and I loved getting to know each one of them. (I received a copy of this book in exchange for only my honest review.)

Forever Safe is one of those books that you will want to read over and over again. It's quickly moved up to one of my favorite books ever! I start each book thinking there is no way Jody Hedlund can top her previous books and yet each time she does! With every book she writes Jody creates an element of romance that leaves you in a state of amazement and admiration. As her characters draw closer to each other they also draw closer to their personal Savior. I loved the uniqueness of this book! The characters are some of my favorite ever written. Tom is the guy of most girl's dreams; he will do anything to make you safe, strong with a compassionate side, and kind even in trying situations. I especially loved Victoria's character development. She started off as a somewhat spoiled yet still sweet girl and matured into responsible and caring women. I simply can not wait to read the next book in this series! :)

Making it down the aisle has never been so difficult.... Forever Safe Beacons of Hope #4 By Jody Hedlund Three times Victoria Cole has been a bride-to-be, hopefully the third time will see her actually make it down the aisle and back again. But something has kept Victoria Cole from actually saying "I do." Nathaniel Winthrop III is perfect - he has wealth, an elite name, handsome and fashionable appearance, and he'll do anything for Victoria. What more could a young lady of refined society want? But something could stand in the way of Victoria's happily ever after someone has threatened her life. And it is no idle threat as her long time bodyguard nearly lost his life protecting her. With her marriage just weeks away Henry Cole has no choice but to hire Tom Cushman to guard his daughter. But when another attack almost succeeds, Victoria is hidden away in a secluded location known only to her father and Tom. But to pull off Tom's plan to keep her safe, the two must pose as newlyweds and convince Tom's parents of their "wedded bliss". One problem with Tom's plan - Victoria has to leave behind the luxuries and comforts of her pampered life. Can Victoria survive a month of making due without maids and a housekeeper? Keeping Victoria safe is Tom's number one goal. But he must keep her at arm's length if he is to finish the job with his heart intact. But even if Victoria's attacker is caught will she ever truly feel safe? Forever Safe can be read without reading the previous Beacons of Hope books, but it is interesting to see the series progress and read about the various light houses and the history behind them and the characters upon whom the draw on. Unlike the previous books in this series this book is not set in the Great Lakes region but rather the East Coast. Fans of historical romance will enjoy this book and fans of Jody Hedlund will enjoy this continuance in her series that has a touch of mystery that will keep you in suspense. I was provided an advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Victoria is well portrayed as the spoiled heiress to an immense fortune, never having to do for herself, much less perform basic household tasks. Her life takes a sudden turn as her young bodyguard whisks her off to the northern tip of Cape Cod to his father's lighthouse post, in order to protect her from a predator. Tom and Victoria pose as newlyweds and Tom takes the assistant light keeper position alongside his father, who cajoles them relentlessly about their lack of typical newlywed behavior. The setting on Cape Cod is magnificent and picturesque. The author's depiction of the locale, the lighthouse and light keeper's house is charming and descriptive. Characters throughout this romantic suspense are so well defined that I could easily relate to their personalities and behavior. As Tom and Victoria are expected to spend intimate time together their attraction for each other begins to spark. The sparks begin to smolder, and soon a raging fire is knocking at their door. This relationship kept me breathless! Their passion for one another is palpable and fervent. Jody Hedlund has created an impassioned romance that pulls out all the stops! Tactful, tasteful, though intensely passionate, you'll find yourself holding your breath and not able to put this book down! This author is one of my favorites, and she continues to amaze me with her capacity for creating in depth, magnificent stories that continue to "wow" me! Please don't miss Ms. Hedlund's most recent creation, Forever Safe, and take some time to read her other books as well. You'll be swept into the currents of her storytelling. Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author and her publisher in exchange for my honest review. All expressed opinions are my own, and no monetary compensation was received for this review.

Once again I was enthralled by the historical setting and vibrant characters in Jody Hedlund's latest lighthouse story! I loved seeing the journey of the inspiring driftwood cross and its accompanying letter come full circle. Victoria is a gently bred socialite, unaccustomed to life's hardships, but there is a deep measure of compassion in her from the love of her parents (the main characters in the series' prequel novella, Out of the Storm). Even though she was somewhat spoiled by wealth, she doesn't allow her attitude to remain so as she is exposed to the struggles Tom's parents deal with in their life at the lighthouse. I appreciated seeing her growth as she serves and tries her hardest to make the best of the situation. Even though Tom has vowed to keep things strictly professional, it's easy to see why he falls for her, despite his efforts to avoid it. Tom's parents bring an element of humor to the book with their "encouragement" aka meddling. Victoria and Tom both experience angst with their rising passions and reflections on life, seeking to support each other but knowing that their time together is temporary. The novel is also suspenseful with the thread of mystery woven in as to who could be after Victoria and why. Finding true safety in God and His grace is a powerful spiritual theme that is well represented in the lives of Victoria and Tom. I highly recommend Forever Safe and the entire Beacons of Hope series! Read them in order if you can, but each story also does well as a stand alone. (Thank you to the author for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review)

This was a great addition to this series. With each book that I read by Jody I like her writing even more. I like how she describes the setting so you feel as if you are really a part of the story not to mention she makes her characters seem so real to you. Victoria has a lot on her plate with being in hiding to stop a kidnapper from finding her and in doing so had to learn to live without the luxuries she was used to. But she was not alone and you will watch as she and Tom grow close by helping each other to grow. I love that these stories have all taken place in lighthouses. What an intriguing place to get to live. There is adventure, romance and inspiration all rolled into one terrific story with this book so a little for everyone.

I am so glad that Jody decided to go the untraditional route to publish Forever Safe. Although the first two books in the series are my favorites, this was a worthy conclusion to the Beacons of Hope series. Ever since Victoria appeared in book three, I knew that she had a story of her own! Forever Safe is full of an endearing romance and historical details of life surrounding a lighthouse, as well as some exciting tense moments toward the end. Stories that feature characters from way different walks of life always intrigue me, and that intrigue certainly holds true with Victoria and Tom. Though kind-hearted, Victoria is a pampered, spoiled young lady from a wealthy family. Tom’s origins are much more humble, and he worked make a profession for himself. From the get-go, their interactions are laced with tension because of these differences, and it is only when they are drawn by necessity from their respective roles that they begin to see that, despite their differences, they both have much to offer. Once again, some of my favorite details were of daily life as a light keeper and the duties that come with it. There is something charming about life around a lighthouse, yet there is always the feeling that something dangerous could happen at any moment – though much was routine, the idea that the surrounding seas may change in a moment was ever present. The climactic scenes really held my attention, and the emotion and resolve of the characters shone brightly in those moments. I loved the overall message of this story as well – the idea that there are always going to be things in life to fear, but you can’t let that stop you from making a decision and living. Victoria’s fears are grounded mostly in supposition and worry for tomorrow, whereas Tom lets past events and traumas color his present decisions. Though they were different types of fear, Jody did a lovely job at portraying that the same gumption and faith is required to overcome them – that fear doesn’t always go away, but it can be dealt with through faith and perseverance. Thought it’s a bit of a bummer to have this series done, I was entirely satisfied with this last book in the Beacons of Hope series. I wholeheartedly recommend for readers looking for a sweet, romantic story.

Forever Safe is the fourth story from the Beacons of Hope series. What a fabulous addition to the series it is. I believe Jody Hedlund saved the best for last. It is so good. This time the setting is in Massachusetts. At first, I did not care for Victoria. She was just a spoiled young lady. But she had grown on me, especially when she was with Tom. Tom is one of those characters that is lovable from the start. This book has all that I love in a book - swoon worthy romance, history and a touch of suspense. I most definitely recommend this book. I would give it 100 stars if I could.

After yet another attempted kidnapping, Victoria Cole is sent into hiding. With her bodyguard, Tom Cushman as her sole protector, they flee to Race Point Lighthouse on Cape Cod. What lies in store for them both may be more than their hearts can bear. Will they allow their fears to force them apart? Or will they be able to face the fears of the past...and the future together, forever? In Forever Safe we travel away from the lighthouses of Michigan and we find ourselves in Newport and beautiful Cape Cod on the Eastern shores of America. The very first chapter had me giggling, holding my breath, and very near to tears. If anyone knows how to write a compelling opening, it is Jody Hedlund. I LOVE that this book brings the story around full circle from the Novella - Out of the Storm. I enjoyed the new setting. It was fun to "revisit" Newport and I laughed out loud at the mention of the bathing machine, remembering Jen Turano's book In Good Company. My eyes always skip ahead on the page while reading Jody's books. My brain apparently is too eager to find out what is going to happen. Zelma has to be one of my FAVORITE characters of Jody's EVER! She is a remarkable woman...And beyond that, I'm not telling you anything else. Because I want you to read Forever Safe and discover her beauty and love for yourself. Victoria and Tom's journey is so powerful. I know that many of us have had to deal with fears of the past, and the future. Even though this is fiction, the message is so true. God can take the least likely circumstance...something that we look at and say, "Nope! That is NOT God's plan." But He works and fashions it into something more beautiful than we could ever dream. My family is living proof of this. What the enemy meant for harm, God has brought life and healing. Our testimony of God's faithfulness and provision never ceases to amaze me. Everyday is a new adventure, and I can go forth boldly, knowing that our Heavenly Father is fighting for us. One thing that I adore about Jody, is that she writes passionate romance without the coarseness that our society has come to expect. Pure love radiates from her stories and takes my breath away. I respect and admire her for that. Oh, what an adventure! Jody, PLEASE write a fifth book! I long to see where the Cross of Hope goes next. I received a free copy of Forever Safe in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are mine alone. My Rating★★★★★ - "You have bewitched me, body and soul."

Another amazing read by Jody Hedlund. The growth of characters, the fears exposed, the example of a loving, Godly marriage, and the strength to move past ones disabilities- emotional and physical. This book is full of inspiration and faith. The romantic tension and scenes truly jump off the page.I was thrilled with this read, lost sleep, and took it with me running errands- reading every chance I got. It's truly captivating. The background for this series continues onto another lighthouse. The lessons learned and taught there are vital to the story, and they were truly appreciated and loved by this reader. In Forever Safe you will find strong well developed characters, a beautiful written story, a well devised plot, and plenty of elements that puts this book in the Inspirational category. An element that is sadly missing from many books put in the Christian fiction genre. I'm looking forward to adding this book to my paperback collection of Jody Hedlund's wonderful books! I received this book from the author for my honest opinion which I have given. "I've come to believe one of the reasons God designed marriage was to help us grow in holiness and character. We get to practice on a daily basis being humble, kind, sacrificial, self-controlled, and so much more." Zelma

Jody Hedlund's Forever Safe Forever Safe takes us to Race Point, Massachusetts, 1876. Tom Cushman is returning home to the lighthouse there as assistant lighthouse keeper to protect Victoria Cole from whom ever is trying to murder her. Tom’s father is the head lighthouse keeper but as he ages he is in need of help. Tom’s mother is disabled so his father has been caring for her plus running the lighthouse. It is the perfect place to hide Victoria from harm plus help out his parents. The author weaves the past and present together effortlessly providing the reader with mystery, drama, suspense and intrigue. The vivid descriptions put you right into the scenes taking place. The characters are very realistic and well defined. There was undeniable chemistry between the main characters throughout the story. The author addressed issues regarding both physical and emotional disabilities: Victoria’s mother is blind and Tom’s mother has lost her feet. You will see that these disabilities do not hamper either woman from living a full life. The reader is inspired that with constant faith in God, He will provide when called upon to make a difference in life’s decisions. This is the fourth book in the Beacons of Hope Series. It can be read as a stand alone. Thank you to Jody Hedlund, the Influencers and Bethany House for providing a copy of this book. My opinion is my own.

Forever Safe is Book Four in the Beacons of Hope lighthouse series. Each is a stand-alone book. It’s always fun when Author Jody Hedlund includes a character or two from the previous books. This gives the reader an opportunity to connect with an old friend! Plus, a worn driftwood cross and a letter, both with special meaning for each owner, appears in each book. Victoria and Tom each have pasts the¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬y are running from. Bo¬¬¬¬th need to find forgiveness and hope. Victoria is spoiled and rich, is being stalked and needs protection. Tom is handsome and happens to be aces when it comes to being a bodyguard. The adventure is non-stop, the romance is endearing and you will never guess who Victoria’s stalker is. As with all of Author Jody Hedlund’s books I’ve read, I recommend Forever Safe with Five Stars. *I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.*

Jody Hedlund brings this incredible series to a satisfying, albeit slightly bittersweet, close with this fourth novel. Like the previous books, Forever Safe can be enjoyed as a standalone. However, those who have read the previous books will delight in glimpsing the threads that connect the stories; I especially love how Hedlund connect this final story to the first one. While the earlier tales focused on Michigan lighthouses, Massachusetts beckons the reader for this final book. As always, Hedlund creates complex, flawed, and likable characters. So many elements make this novel impossible to put down without reading just one more chapter--an engaging story, endearing romance, escalating danger, authentic spiritual struggles, and a sigh-worthy ending. Fascinating historical perspective brings the world of a lighthouse keeper to life. Add Forever Safe and the Beacons of Hope series to your summer reading list! Forever Safe was one of those books that I did not want to see end. These two characters really burrowed themselves into my heart and I did not want to say goodbye to Victoria and Tom at the end of the novel. Seemingly spoiled at the start of the book, it was an interesting feeling to read about Victoria. She was not mean-spirited, but was simply self-focused and used to having servants who took care of everything. I must admit that I enjoyed watching her learn to value others more than herself and I really liked her interactions with Tom and his family. Tom was a great character whom I liked right from the start. Both he and Victoria were very complex characters. With Tom struggling over guilt from the past and Victoria battling overwhelming fear of the future, these two had a lot to overcome. My favorite part of Forever Safe was watching Tom and Victoria develop feelings for each other. This author writes wonderful romantic tension into her stories and Forever Safe was no exception. What a wonderful love story! And with danger lurking from an unknown enemy who was targeting Victoria, there was plenty of tension, both romantic and suspenseful to make for an extremely enjoyable and exciting novel. I loved this story! As a side note, this is book four of the Beacons of Hope series, however, it can be read without having read the other books in the series. However, there was a driftwood cross that was constructed in the prequel novella to the series and has been passed from character to character in each book. It was fun to see where it traveled and how the characters were connected to each other. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

After an introductory novella and three novels, Hedlund has gone the Indie route for this next (and likely final) installment of the Beacons of Hope series. This book brings full circle the story of a wooden cross and a letter penned by Isabelle Thornton that began with the novella Out of the Storm, and are passed along in each book of the series. You can read this book as a stand-alone, yet still enjoy the legacy of the cross by reading Isabelle’s letter on Hedlund’s website. This installment is a little more focused on the romance and a bit less on the historical aspect. The plot is not as intricate as Hedlund’s past books, but she crafts the story well, building tension between the main characters. Spoiled heiress Victoria Cole is quite distinct from the other women in this series set in the 1800s. Though blushingly chaste, she is much more forward—to the point of being the pursuer in many of the romantic situations. Bodyguard Tom Cushman is tricked into having young Victoria as a client—a fact that sets the tension between the two from the beginning. Lighthouses make awesome settings for romantic stories, and with Hedlund’s descriptive writing, it’s easy to visualize gazing out from the tower across the crashing waves of the sea. A huge difference in this fourth book is that the setting has been moved from the Great Lakes lighthouses of Michigan to Cape Cod’s Race Point Lighthouse in Massachusetts. I think the more-refined east coast setting is a great fit for the story. It’s not every day that secondary characters come close to being your favorites. Tom’s parents, James and Zelma, were wonderfully in love, with bold displays of affection and much advice for the young. They added a delightful element to the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and highly recommend it to fans of historical romance.
