An Amazon Charts bestseller.

An unlikely pair teams up to investigate a brutal murder in a haunting thriller that walks the line between reality and impossibility.

When small-town police officers discover the grave of a young boy, they’re quick to pin the crime on a convicted criminal who lives nearby. But when it comes to murder, Officer Susan Marlan never trusts a simple explanation, so she’s just getting started.

Meanwhile, college professor Eric Evans hallucinates a young boy in overalls: a symptom of his schizophrenia—or so he thinks. But when more bodies turn up, Eric has more visions, and they mirror details of the murder case. As the investigation continues, the police stick with their original conclusion, but Susan’s instincts tell her something is off. The higher-ups keep stonewalling her, and the FBI’s closing in.

Desperate for answers, Susan goes rogue and turns to Eric for help. Together they take an unorthodox approach to the case as the evidence keeps getting stranger. With Eric’s hallucinations intensifying and the body count rising, can the pair separate truth from illusion long enough to catch a monster?

About the Author

Vivian Barz grew up on a farm in a small Northern California town of less than three thousand people. With plenty of fresh air and space to let her imagination run wild, she began penning mysteries at a young age. One of Barz’s earliest works, a story about a magical scarecrow with a taste for children’s blood, was read to her third-grade class during show-and-tell. It received mixed reviews. Vivian kept writing, later studying English and film and media studies from the University of California, Irvine. She now resides in Los Angeles, where she is always working on her next screenplay and novel. Barz also writes under the pen name Sloan Archer.

I’ve never read anything by this author before but the synopsis sounded good. I was so confused the first part of this book. Eric is a professor who’s wife left him and I’m wondering what this has to do with anything. Susan is a police officer trying to solve a old murder but she gets pushed out at every turn. The paranormal aspects of this book are super creepy. 60% into the book I was ready to give up but then it took off and was fast paced, super twisted did not see that coming suspense to the very end. I would read another book by this author. Hopefully the next one will be as good as the last part of this one wa

Haunting, thrilling, and entertaining are three words I’d use to describe Forgotten Bones. Many of the characters had no connection until the bones were discovered buried at a local farm. Then things started to be heard, images began to appear, and characters started to weave their stories together to find out the truth of who was behind all the bones that were found. I had no doubt that the obvious suspect wasn’t the guilty person. If it was that obvious it would not have been a good book (and this is a good book). The story gave clues but I never saw the entire truth until it was laid out for me. I loved the suspense of what would come next, I can never guess but am always thrilled when a story takes a turn that I didn’t see coming. Forgotten Bones is a mystery, thriller, and amazing story. I enjoyed the characters, the storyline, and everything else about the book.

A body popping up isn't a big deal to a cop, but when it happens in a small town, it's just that. Susan is called out on a traffic accident, and soon she is in the midst of a mystery with a young boy's buried body. Soon that young boy turns into more buried children on a local farm nearby. Eric has schizophrenia but has control of his disease. Soon enough, after some major personal issues, he finds himself not so in control when he begins seeing a young boy. As the fates would have it, he soon teams up with Susan after he realizes he isn't having an episode but is being "haunted" by a child from her case. Soon this small town will be rocked by the gruesome truth. Wow. This story was action packed from beginning to end. The way it is written it's almost like two stories that collide into one. It doesn't hurt the story though it just adds to the appeal. This story was a good read. It was mysterious and scary. I read a lot of horror books, and this one gave me chills more than once. I loved the characters. Susan was great with her "I'll do it anyway" attitude. Eric was by far my favorite. His side of the story, maybe because of the disease, was scary yet comical at times. He was awesome! Overall, if you want a well-written story that will keep you guessing till the end...Read this book. If you want one that is filled with action and will scare you...Read this book. I promise you will not be disappointed. I hope that these two, who make a very "crazy" (haha) team will come back together in another book.
