About the Author

Ada Louise Huxtable (1921-2013) was a pioneering American architecture critic and writer on architecture. Huxtable established architecture and urban design journalism in North America and raised the public's awareness of the urban environment. She was the first full-time Architectural Critic at an American newspaper and inn 1970, she was awarded the first ever Pulitzer Prize for Criticism. A MacArthur fellow, she was the architecture critice for The New York Times from 1963 to 1982, and at The Wall Street Journal from 1997 to 2012.
