This book is super cool. Not only is it thick and sturdy (my baby needs two hands to carry it), it's downright GORGEOUS. Hitchen draws scripture from all over the Bible, including all of the animals mentioned in Isaiah 11 (the wolf shall lie down with the lamb, etc...). Each page has a bold animal illustration on the right side, and a solid color page opposite with the name of the animal and the context and verse. My 18M old is obsessed with all things animal at the moment, and has brought me this book 4 or 5 times to read since got it (this week). One small thing (or I would have given it a 5 star) - some of the animal references are things we've historically accepted, but that the Bible itself doesn't explicitly say happened (for example: Mary riding a donkey to Bethlehem, a cow present at Jesus birth, etc...). They do fill in the context for what's going on, so I have no problem with my kids coming away with that image in their heads, but it's simply implied though not explicit in the scripture. Compared to most picture books about Jesus' birth, it's totally on point LOL! My 18M old is slightly on the young side to get the full benefit of the scriptures and explanations, but he really enjoys looking at the book and (sort of) naming the animals. So hopefully in the next year, his language skills will develop enough to fully enjoy the narrative. I'd say a 2-3 year old is the perfect age window!

These books are absolutely beautiful! The colors and illustrations are the best I’ve seen in a children’s book. I love that it not only teaches about different animals, but also goes through a storyline of the animals appearing in scripture from Eden to Bethlehem. I will be buying those books for all of my momma friends and their babies!

We love all the baby believer books. Unlike many Christian children’s books these typically contain a whole scripture verse(s) to go along with each page not a watered down version. Each book topic is carefully thought out to captivate the attention of young children while not staying to far from scripture. The illustrations are beautiful! These books can be used by a variety of ages. With my infant/toddler we just look at and talk about the pictures and act out the animal and make its sound. The one downside of this book is that many of the scriptures chosen are long for those 2 and under and don’t keep their attention. I took away a star for this. Their other books typically only use a scripture that is a sentence or two long.

I'm forever on the lookout for good Bible based books for the Minions, now my niece (who is 3) and nephew (just a baby) to learn and grow with. When this book crossed my Net Galley radar I knew I needed to review it. This is a new author to me who brings an intriguing idea to mind that I wanted to grasp hold of. The idea that you can take a book with truths you want to impart to your child and use the same book through different age stages to reinforce the idea. The book is billed for ages birth to 4. Something, that in the right environment, can truly bring home the Biblical truth of redemption. However. . . OK, I loved the illustrations. They were bold and colorful and easily identifiable for very young toddlers and children. However, once you get past some of the obvious ones such as the snake and the donkey they lost me just a little bit. I think the loss was in the idea that the Bible versus were not tailored to the understandable vocabulary of a young child. You get into the section from Isiah that tells of the coming of Christ and how the lion will lie down with the lamb and the lion shall eat straw like an ox, etc. Honing in on these animals is a great way to reach children and again the pictures were so capturing but the words that accompanied it are beyond the grasp of my niece. Starting out with the first image we have words like enmity and betrothed. I truly believe that children can and should learn the Bible (I'm not quite as adherent to a specific version as I know others are) but I also believe that if we want our children to choose the Bible through their lives and want to study the Bible we have to make it approachable for them. I remember as a child struggling to care about reading from the Bible as the words and phrasing were over my head (and I was an advanced reader!). I remember that it wasn't on my radar of want to read books like so many others I buried myself into. I can't help but think that if there had been more approachable, more to my level of understanding, options available that I might have developed a stronger appeal to God's Word than I did. And perhaps I might have actually put forth the effort and desire to study it sooner in life than I did. I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by NetGalley. I was not compensated for this review and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. I was not required to write a positive review.

From Eden to Bethlehem: An Animals Primer is a board book highlighting key animals found within the Bible, along with Scripture that goes along with that respective animal. My daughter is an animal loving girl so we read it on repeat at our house. She is captivated from beginning to end of the book. I'm also very impressed by the sound doctrine that is taught in the book as well, not water down! I would recommend this book for a variety of ages. You won’t be disappointed! I received From Eden to Bethlehem compliments of Harvest House Publishers in exchange for my honest review.

I love all of the Baby Believer books! If you are seeking a beautifully designed and intelligently crafted book for your child, look no further! Together my daughter and I read the scripture, and she looks at the images like they are works of art. We love reading these books together. I personally enjoy the fact that these books have scripture, as well as teach my child basics of life- like opposites, animals, and movement. If I could, I’d frame these pages on her wall—they are THAT GORGEOUS! These books would make a great baby shower gift, birthday gift, or Christmas gift!

What a FANTASTIC book! This book is a short read (for short attention spans!) that packs a big punch of theology in a child engaging manner. It is beautifully illustrated and the quality is such that many children can enjoy it for a long time to come (not flimsy like some). We are thrilled to have this in our collection.

This book is a definite favorite in our house! We have a 5 year old, 3 year old, and 1 year old and they all love this book. My 1 year old daughter loves to carry this book, and "Let There Be Light" by the same author, all around the house, and they come in the car with us most of our car rides. The illustrations are beautiful with captivating colors that grab my kiddos' attention. And kids love learning about animals... The plus side of this book is while they learn about some animals, they also hear God's Word! It's a huge win win! I highly recommend this book and all the other books in the Baby Believers series by the same author. Such a great, simple, and easy-on-the-eyes way to teach your kids the truths of the Bible!

I have been searching high and low for a resource like this for my toddlers! I wanted to find simple yet theologically sound books to begin to lay a scriptural foundation for my children. I have finally found the whole package in the "Baby Believer" books! The concepts are laid out incredibly simply, yet also beautifully with eye catching illustrations. We have already purchased additional books for gifts! We can't wait to share them with friends.

"From Eden to Bethlehem: An Animals Primer" is another absolutely beautiful book in the Baby Believer series that makes a wonderful addition to our daughters' library. The bold illustrations stand apart from the ones you find in most children's books and my daughters certainly love them, as do I. Each two-page spread contains one of those beautiful animal illustrations on the right, and on the left you find the name of the animal(s), a Scripture reference, and on most pages, a little context to fill in between verses. Not only is this book great for teaching simple animal recognition, but it also introduces little ones to snippets of Scripture. I absolutely love that reading the books in the Baby Believer series with my daughters has initiated several conversations between my four-year-old and myself about what she's hearing from God's Word. What an exciting thing! I highly recommend this book, along with the other Baby Believer books, to anyone looking to teach Scripture to children in a fun, yet meaningful way!

We all know how important to reading to our children is and sometimes finding quality books is even harder. Even more than that, children’s books that contain actual scripture is a rarity. The Baby Believer books are one of a kind. They are well made with thick pages, the illustrations are gorgeous, and it uses Bible verses in a way I’ve never seen before. It not only teaches the Word to little ones and helps build their foundation of faith, it also teaches the practical things we want our children to learn. From Eden to Bethlehem is a beautiful animal primer that teaches simple children animals, but more than that it uses scripture as the basis for teaching these opposites. Such a thoughtful, intelligent approach to teaching our children how Scripture fits into everyday life, even from the beginning of their lives. My children ages 1-6 love these books and I intend to be gifting them for baby showers, birthday parties, and as Christmas gifts to everyone I know with little ones.

Great for Advent! I have been highly impressed with all of Catechesis Books' "Baby Believer" primers; the animals primer is no exception. The Creation/Fall/Redemption narrative is artfully told through beautiful depictions of animals; I especially appreciated this usage of Isaiah to explain the redemption of the whole of creation! This would be an excellent "First Advent" book for the littles! My 4yo, 3yo, and 8mo daughters are entranced by the illustrations, and I believe this book will be a family treasure for many years to come.

My 2 year old is obsessed with animals making From Eden to Bethlehem a favorite in our home! I am really amazed by the author and illustrators work in taking something simple like teaching your children animals and tying it in with teaching them Scripture so beautifully! The illustrations are incredible and detailed. I love how durable and well made these books are. Board books seem to be almost a must for us with babies & toddlers so the pages don’t get torn, so I appreciate that these are board books and can be loved by children of all ages. I genuinely love recommending these books to other parents or giving them as gifts because they have been a blessing to our family and help to plant seeds of Scritpure in our littles ones who we pray come to love and follow Jesus! I received From Eden to Bethlehem in exchange for my honest review!

This is such a beautiful and engaging book for little minds! The animals are great for kids to recognize while reading Scripture that correlates to the animal. I love that the book begins on the first page instead of having to turn past the title page to get to the main content. The illustrations are also gorgeous as seen by the photos I added!!! I really can't recommend this book enough. We are hooked on the Baby Believer series (we have the other 3 she's written!) and love to purchase them as gifts for new parents or as a birthday gift. You won't be disappointed with this book!

From Eden to Bethlehem is another great addition to the Baby Believer series from Catechesis books. The book begins with the snake from the book Genesis and ends with a camel from the book of Matthew. Each illustration includes a Bible verse that has to do with the animal pictured. I like that this book teaches little ones about animal recognition while also helping them learn Scripture. My daughter is really into animals right now and she loves this book. I love that when I read the Baby Believer series to her, not only am I helping her learn about who God is, I'm learning as well. I really enjoyed From Eden to Bethlehem and believe you and your little ones will too! I received From Eden to Bethlehem compliments of Harvest House Publishers in exchange for my honest review.

The illustrations are captivating and lovely. I really like that they aren’t cartoony and that they capture many details without being overwhelming or “loud”. There is obviously a lot of thought and care put into which Scripture is used. This primer book focuses on teaching a simple animals to young children while simultaneously teaching Scripture related to the each animal from the snake in the Garden of Eden to the camel the wisemen rode on to worship Jesus when he was born. I love that these concepts are mingled together and I'm teaching my children basic ideas and also theology! The gifts that these 2 women have for creating theology books for children blows me away! As a mama of 3 little ones (19m twins and 3 year old) with the desire that my children would each come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ, I’m immensely thankful the hard work and dedication that goes into these books. It's important to me to teach Scripture to my kids and not in a watered-down way that I've found many other books to be. This book has Scripture on every page! My kids LOVE animals (I think most kids do!) so it's wonderful to be able to combine their love of animals with teaching them Scripture.

We love the Baby Believer books in our home! What a genius idea to take simple things - like animals - and incorporate them into a book like this! Every parent wants to teach their kids the basics like this (so many books about identifying animals are on the market)! Why not do just that, but also add the Bible?! I do wish the story from creation to the coming of Jesus was a little more clear to follow with the animals as it seems to be broken up in the middle and seems a little of a stretch to make the connection…but there are only so many animals mentioned in the Bible, and it’s clearly incredibly creative to be able to do what the writer did! The pictures are beautiful and my kids enjoy listening to the story in addition to naming the animals. It’s engaging for all of them (ages 1, 3, and 6). I wish I could buy all the Baby Believer books for every new mom in my life. This is seriously my go-to baby shower gift!
