About the Author

For over two decades I've has been a financial journalist, with a particular interest in frauds and scams and how they ruin lives.

My love for fiction writing led to the creation of fraud investigators Ruby Delaney and Hari Bhatt, who "separate the pros from their cons." Ruby's a troubled actress and Hari's the financial genius who would do anything for her.

I make my home in southern Ontario with assorted rescued pets and an overactive Netflix account.

Well written, enjoyed this story. One mystery solved and another one still brewing. Story didn't drag & I kept wanting to get back to it. Getting the next one.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I expected a simple cozy mystery but it was more than that. The characters were all but alive and there's a back story I can't wait to learn more of. And the main story was well done, with false clues, multiple possible suspects and everything else you could want in a good mystery. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Enjoyable mystery. Reclusive young widow Verity travels to a small Canadian town to settle her favorite aunt's estate, even though she refused to accept that her aunt is really dead. While trying to revive her aunt's landscaping business and restore her neglected house, she becomes embroiled in local 'politics' and, by the way, a couple of murders and a hit and run cold case. Personable characters, humor, twists and turns and a teensy bit of romantic attraction kept me engrossed...and the epilogue was intriguing enough to purchase the next book in the series.

Verity is a recluse and has been since her husband’s death two years ago. The thought of leaving her apartment brings on such anxiety that she even has her groceries delivered. Then she gets a call from her aunt’s attorney saying her aunt has disappeared and she needs to come and take over her aunt’s landscaping business. Eventually she realizes she has to do this. So she gets herself together and flys to her aunt’s house. What she discovers leads her to feel she needs to try and find out what happened to her aunt. The story takes unexpected detours leading to many surprises. It is a good story but I only gave it a four because it has a cliffhanger ending, and there’s nothing I despise more. The story itself could have ended without the cliffhanger so I suppose it’s not as bad as it could be.

Cute, but not amazing. Verity is more than a little annoying. Wasn't super hard to figure out who did it, reason was a surprise but rather thin for a motive. Probably won't buy add'l titles.
