Galatea's Revenge by Kelly McClymer

Plucked from the gutters of London as a child, Elspeth was taught to be a lady, and married to the son of her benefactor. But her life of luxury and education comes with a steep price -- she feels like an imposter one step away from being exposed as a penniless gutter brat.

When she realizes her husband will never consider her anything but a filthy pickpocket, she demands that he undo all that his father did in teaching her to be a lady so she can once again survive on the streets of London.

Will seeing his wife on the streets of London finally show Damian the true lady within Elspeth?

About the Author

USA Today Bestselling author Kelly McClymer enjoys visiting the Victorian era from the comfort of her own home. The very first person she remembers taking her there was Charles Dickens. GALATEA'S REVENGE, she must confess, was inspired by OLIVER TWIST. Sometimes it is possible for someone born in a poorhouse to learn to preside over a manor house.

It is 1850 in London. Elspeth did not understand what was happening as she huddled in the corner. The man talking to Gran said his son was to wed her. He said her Dad saved his life and he had promised him. She was only 12yrs old from the streets and Damian was 17 and the future Earl and she was a street urchin. Damian wanted nothing to do with the filthy urchin. It was out of both their control and Elspeth and Damian were wed by the Parson. Normally historical romance is not a genre I seek. However, I was surprised to find that I not only enjoyed reading Elspeth and Damin's story, I could not wait to see what happened next! Kelly has described the disparage between the 'nobs' and the poor in stunning detail. The book is well written, interesting and a page turner. I was living Elspeth and Damian's journey to love with them. It is definitely a journey worth taking. I was given a copy of the book to read for an honest review.

WOW! What a debut! Fast paced, roller coaster ride from the beginning to the end. Very intense, emotional, compelling and powerful while maintaining the integrity of the story. The heroine went from a guttersnipe to a lady in a swift marriage, while only a thirteen year old child. The hero was forced to marry young. as well, but refused to consummate a marriage to a child, so he left to travel the world. He returns years later, after his father's death, to find his guttersnipe is a beautiful woman. But still he kicks her out of the home she knew for years, so back to the place she remembers, the gutter, or will she? The H/H are a unique pair, but we'll matched. The reader will wish to kick some sense into him at times. How could he this beautiful young Lady into the street, against his father's wishes? A must read! Be prepared, tissues will me needed. Can one- sided love finally find happiness? Or will Society, stubbornness, duty, and prestige win out in the end? A not to miss story! Simply an awesome read, with many twists and turns. Will the H/H find their HEA? Fans of Historical Romance, romance with a twist, sensual tension, and a unique talent of rags to riches back, to rags tale. Awesome read! An author to follow. I can't wait to see what's in store for her readers next. In two words powerful and compelling! * Received for an honest review* Rating: 4.5 Heat rating: Reviewed by: AprilR
