About the Author

Susan B. is a grateful, recovering compulsive debtor and spender. She first came into Debtors Anonymous in 1999 and paid off over $22,000 of unsecured debt. Thinking she had the answer, she left the program.

After a six year relapse, Susan finally hit bottom. When she came out of the fog in the spring of 2009, she realized that she'd now accrued over $34,000 in credit card debt, and couldn't afford to pay for her son to begin college in the fall.

On April 25, 2009, she cut up her credit cards, recommitted herself to Debtors Anonymous and working her recovery program, and began using the ideas in the Daily Reader for Compulsive Debtors and Spenders to keep from debting and out-of-control spending one day at a time.

In 2012, Susan started the blog, GettingOutfromGoingUnder.wordpress.com, as a resource to provide guidance and support to struggling and recovering compulsive debtors and spenders.

Through the miracle of the program, Susan's son was able to start college in the fall of 2009 and he graduated in 2013.

Despite becoming disabled in 2010, which severely reduced her income, Susan has continued to pay off her debt and stay abstinent one day at a time with the help of her program, her network, and her Higher Power.
