Ghost Cave

In Book 1 of the Alice MacDonald Greer Mystery series by award-winning author Helen Currie Foster,

...big-city lawyer Alice MacDonald Greer moves her office to the small town of Coffee Creek, in the heart of Texas Hill Country. She's just beginning to meet the locals when brusque, elderly rancher Ollie West walks into her office. Ollie wants a trust to protect prehistoric rock paintings on his ranch. Intrigued by the unexpected power of the ancient art, Alice obliges.

When Ollie is murdered, Alice feels bound to honor his wishes-despite some family opposition. A series of inept break-ins at Alice's office and ranch escalates into violence by an unknown adversary. Climbing the limestone cliffs of Cloud Ranch to seek inspiration from the rock art, Alice finds herself not only fighting to vindicate Ollie, but fighting for her life.

Ghost Cave plunges the reader into a world of ancient shamans and murderous greed. In the heart of Texas, the passion for land runs deep-sometimes dangerously so.

About the Author

Helen Currie Foster is the author of the Alice MacDonald Greer Mystery series. She earned a BA from Wellesley College, an MA from the University of Texas, and a JD from the University of Michigan. Having grown up in Texas surrounded by books and storytelling, she taught high school English and later became a prize-winning feature writer for a small Michigan newspaper.

Over thirty years into Foster's career as an environmental lawyer, the character Alice and her stories suddenly appeared in her life. In her writing, Foster explores the interaction between history and the present and the reasons we tell the stories we do.

Married with two children, she lives north of Dripping Springs, Texas, supervised by three burros. She works in Austin, and she's active with the Hays County Master Naturalists and the board of Austin Shakespeare.
