Glory Happening: Finding the Divine in Everyday Places by Kaitlin B. Curtice

"A stunner...every sentence is a feast for the senses." —Rachel Held Evans

When you have an experience and tell the story of that experience to someone, something sacred happens inside of you. That experience doesn’t have to be an extravagant moment, but it can be beautiful, nonetheless. And as you store up all those stories and share them, you grow your world’s boundaries. You build community and remind yourself that every moment of your life counts for something holy, good, and glorious.
The search for glory will bring freedom and a fresh perspective to whatever season you happen to find yourself in. Glory Happening is a book of stories and prayers that remind you to take a closer look at your everyday circumstances, to find the magical beauty in everyday experiences. It is an invitation to live deeply into every moment with the expectation that something good will find you at the end of the day. And once you experience glory, you have words to speak, a prayer to pray, and a story to tell. And so glory grows from person to person, and community is created around the reality that God is truly in our midst.

What People are Saying About This

From the Publisher

"Stop. Take a deep breath and pour a cup of coffee. This is the kind of book you will want to sit with for a while, the kind you will return to again and again. With the insights of a prophet and the attention of a poet, Kaitlin Curtice invites the reader to see the world fresh, in all its everyday glory. You will never look at a sink of dishes, a mound of dough, a game of Rummy, or the family dog the same way again. Glory Happening is a stunner of a debut, every sentence a feast for the senses. By the time you reach the last page, you will have kicked off your shoes, knowing you tread on holy ground." —Rachel Held Evans, Author, A Year of Biblical Womanhood and Searching for Sunday

Glory happening allows us to follow a Christian couple and their journey to parenthood, advanced education and various hardships. Written through the eyes of the author, Kaitlin, we witness how God is an integral part of their lives wherever they go. Small living quarters, busy hyper energetic son, a limited budget coupled with a love of the Lord. Making lemonade out of lemons and thanking God for the product is the backbone of this book. The strong faith and strength of this couple is quite inspiring.

This is the kind of book that reminds you that what our culture, and Christian culture, value - biggness, flashiness, brightness, popularity, success - aren't usually where glory is found. Kaitlin Curtice spins out story after story of glory in small things, sacred moments, holiness at the kitchen sink and glory in the back garden. This is the kind of book that reminds you who you are, who God is, and what it means to be faithful in all the small moments that pile up in our lives. There is holiness in seedlings, in a cleaning crew, in walking a prayer labyrinth through a cemetery. "Glory Happening" is a centering book, that helps us feel our feet on firm ground and reminds us who we are in Christ, and reminds us that who we are, what we are doing, the people we love and the dishes we wash, is enough. And there is glory here.

A smooth and relatable read which dismisses the dualistic divine/secular wall and illuminates the omnipresence of the sacred nature. This book was made to be savored, like a 50 course meal (short chapters)...full of subtlety and nuance. Kaitlin has tapped into divine process while illuminating the paradigmatic essence of what it means to pray without ceasing. Very well edited, highly recommended, and just genuinely excellent!

This book is such a gift. Like a way to train an often neglected muscle. The muscle that finds glory in the complexities, and the triumphs of our life. Kaitlin so graciously invites us into her gift of finding beauty and purpose in the moments of her life, from cleaning dishes, toting around boxes of books from home to home, to watching her children find wonder, or simply thinking about her dog. This book invites you into the glory happenings of Kaitlin's life and helps you learn to see them in your own. And in a world so upside down and crazy at times, finding these moments invites health into your soul. So thank you Kaitlin, for teaching me to strengthen my eyes to see, my ears to hear, my hurt to heal, and my thoughts towards glory.

his is the exact book we need right now with our world where it is. Glory Happening is full of normal, everyday encounters with God, proving to each reader that He wants to meet us where we are too. Kaitlin's words are like a balm to a blistered heart, a deep-rooted tree in a tumultuous world. God is so good and His glory is everywhere--so long as we can learn to recognize it.
