It was a soft buzz, not sharp, and without warning, it stopped. Nine-year-old Lark opened her eyes. A honey bee had landed on her arm. The honey bee cleaned her fuzzy face with her tiny black arms, turned in a slow circle, and then took off toward the hive. First-year beekeeper Lark Oakmyer has been given the rare invitation to join her old friend, W, at his bee yard with thousands of honey bees. But then, through a series of strange occurrences, Lark, her brothers, and their friends find themselves discovering clues to a bigger mystery than the bees. She soon learns that she has friends in high places and that the wonder of honey bees is more than she could have ever asked or imagined. Through their faith in God (and a bit of help from the bees), they make the impossible, possible.

Reminiscent of my childhood and a blast from the past. God and Bees brought back fond memories of days gone by with my grandfather and the innocent days of growing up with childhood imaginations and fun. This book is timeless, educational and just a fun read overall. Thank you Charity for reminding us that “God made bees, just like He made me and you, & I believe we can learn a lot from each other, even if it stings a little.”

Wow! What a beautifully written book for children who enjoy chapter books with humor and depth but without the too mature subject matters for their age. Clever use of humor throughout. The author gives great content that shows her love of both bees and God but threads a mystery within this beautifully illustrated book. I’d say the reading level is a bit above your “average” 9-10 year old but if they love a challenging chapter book this would be a great one! Hoping this author’s next book is for adults!
