Reading God’s Best Kept Secret was like feasting on Thanksgiving Dinner. Literally coming into the knowledge and experience of grace, this book brought the sustaining power I need to continue to live in the freedom and the joy of the finished work of Christ in my life. I have been longing and praying for a way to communicate to others what has happen to me in the last few years and Mark Maulding has communicated this message of freedom from the law, and launching believers onward to live in grace, freedom and joy unspeakable! A must read for all believers and for those who have been stuck in a religious system that has left you feeling discouraged and fruitless.

I totally enjoyed this book! It taught me so much about letting go of the "rules of christianity" and embracing God as grace giving, freedom giving unconditional lover of my soul. Many thanks to Mark Maulding and others like him who communicate so clearly the truths of God's Word in an easy practical way. He's a real teacher with a real message. I would recommend this to anyone who is weary of trying to measure up, who believes that they need to please God. It's message has changed my life.

I received a copy of this book to review before launch. I must say this book is life changing!! I have heard Mark Maulding speak in the past and back then he broke me free from a life of perceived failure in the eyes of God! This book will show you how simple it is to become a child of God and how it is so much more simple and easy to be who you are in Christ rather than trying to live up to the impossible standards of a "church God."

“From the heart of a pastor, a brother, a counselor, and a dear friend. Mark’s personal journey to freedom invites you to climb aboard to experience the wonders of our Father’s love and grace. This book holds the newfound discoveries Mark enjoys and shares with others that changed the course of their journeys. The Secret is simple, yet, so profound, “God doesn’t determine who you are by your behavior, but by your birth (in Christ).” The message of our Father’s love and grace, also, changed my life over 30 years ago. If you feel lost, tired, weary, burnt-out, overwhelmed by religion… this book was written just for you. Come, sit awhile with Christ as He reveals to you through Mark, His Best-Kept Secret!” Tresca Trent Grannum, founder of Selah With Love, LLC, author of Selah the Little Lamb in the Rescue and Selah the Little Lamb in My Friend Worry children’s books

I really enjoyed how Mark Maulding really opened up my eyes to the scriptures. There were many times that I would just sit and absorb in what I had read. I was challenged in ways that I didn't think were possible and enjoyed the questions and explanations for them. "God's will is woven into our divine design so we can choose his will as he leads us into it."

The Biblical truths the author expresses in this book are so freeing and life giving. Highly recommended. I loved the stories he used throughout to illustrate his points. They made the book very practical and easy to relate to. I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review (and then I bought six copies to give away to my friends :).

This book will help you to examine your Christian experience and what you're believing. It helps us to see that what we are experiencing in our Christian walk is directly related to what we are believing. He also shows us the truth about our identity and God's finished work, which has the power to make all men incredibly free! This book will answer the question, "Who am I?" and help you to see who God is, in a profound and meaningful way! These truths radically changed my life from trying so hard to live the Christian life, to resting in Him and letting Him do the work through me. Be prepared to be changed!

“ ‘Who am I?’ is one of the most challenging questions we’ll ever have to answer in life. Contained within this book are wonderful biblically based answers to this profound question. I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review but then purchased others to share with family and friends.”- David Dodd- Walk On Ministry

After His resurrection, Jesus famously tells Thomas "stop doubting and believe" (Jn.20:27). If only we could understand why that is still so hard for us today! In God's Best Kept Secret, Mark helps us root out the lies & confusion that cause us to miss the abundant life Christ came to give us - resurrected life. Like a wise counselor, he asks questions & shares examples to help us identify these blocks to freedom & to grab them out by the roots. He offers prayers & encouragement to depend more fully on God - to exchange "Try Harder Christianity" for "Trust HIM Christianity"(p.32). This book is not "prosperity gospel", & this is not gnosticism. It is not about religion, but rather, relationship. This "secret" is for all of us : it is the Truth of Christ IN us, it is Grace, it is accepting brokenness so that Christ can make you whole. It is the enemy -not God- that works to keep Christians from living abundantly under the New Covenant in Christ... but Mark is blowing the cover off of this "secret". Satan has always tried to steal our identity & to cause us to doubt. Jesus called him "the father of lies"(Jn.8:44).... I'm reminded of a famous quote which says "When we treat man as he is, we make him worse than he is. When we treat him as if he already was what he potentially could be, we make him what he should be." Jesus wants us to believe Who He is & who we already are because of Him. I pray that all who read this book will know this Truth, & that Truth will set you free. May your reading of it be anointed in such a way that you, too, will "stop doubting & believe" - & that you will reflect Jesus in a way that frees others... God bless you! I must mention that I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I will also mention that I am recommending it to my own counseling clients, with prayer that they won't even need me anymore!

Let's face it. When we read the word "secret" our curiosity is peaked. We want to know why we're not in the "know". As a Christian, I definitely wanted to know what the secret to God is, considering that He is a mystery at times! In his book, Mark lays out a lot of issues Christians struggle with that we're not so willing to admit we struggle with. Checklist Christianity? Yep, and the guilt that ensues when we don't accomplish everything on that list. Do we view a God who is religious? Oh yeah. That's a definite 10-4 little buddy (on my part at least). And how about what a selfie would look like with God and you? These are just some of the valid, and thought provoking questions Mark presents, all while pointing right back to the answers God has in His Word. As Christians, we are meant to walk in freedom, a freedom that is already within us, all we have to do it unlock it. I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review

If you want to read a book that gives a clear message of what living the Christian Life by Grace means, this book is for you! I love Mark's heart to help others learn how to quit striving and embrace God's Grace. His book did not disappoint. It will encourage you to live in the freedom that Christ has given us, and give you an understanding of your identity in Christ, as well as debunk some theological myths that we tend to believe. Get ready to be set free! *I received a copy of this book in advance in exchange for my honest review

Life changing! These two words sum up God's Best Kept Secret. Mark Maulding has done an excellent job explaining a Christian's true identity in Christ. In an easy to understand way he uses Scripture and real life examples to uncover the lies we believe and the Biblical truth that sets us free to be who Christ intended for us to be. The message of this book was life changing for me. I received an advanced copy to read but have bought another that will be given away!

I’ve read a lot of Christian non-fiction books, but none have reached me the way this book has. I could almost subtitle this “Faith 101”. I’m a lifelong Christian, yet I learned so much about my faith from “God’s Best Kept Secret.” Full of scriptural references, author Mark Maulding uncovers countless myths and behaviors we sometimes cling to while living the Christian life. I could identify many perspectives I’ve held which do not come from God. What’s important, as Mark explains, is not keeping a checklist of good behaviors and thoughts, but having an intimacy with Christ, allowing Him to live through us. If this concept is difficult to grasp, Mark helps you understand in this book. I appreciate that the author speaks honestly from experience with his own struggles. He also uses examples from patients he has counseled. I plan to share this book with my pastor, as well as friends and family. If Mark ever does a small group study based on this book, I won’t hesitate to get it! So much truth in this book! *I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I received an advance copy of this book and really appreciated the message in this book. This is about truly living in freedom in Christ - not freedom to sin, but freedom from condemnation in the event that you do sin. The author reveals many of the reasons we get caught into the traps of the enemy, especially believing lies that the enemy cooks up. Our belief system can lead us down the path of legalism and rules and regulations, or we can believe the truth of God’s Word and recognize that our identity is in Christ. Mark tells us how we can embrace God’s unconditional love and no longer be under the cloud of self deception and condemnation. It's so wonderful that we can be set free from the striving and self condemnation when we learn about the way Christ really intended us to see ourselves as Christians, loved and cherished and a precious child of God. I have been a student of the teaching at Grace Life International many years ago and I will say that the teaching was life-changing for me, I have experienced freedom from negative thinking, and I have never looked back. God loves us and wants us to get off the do’s and don’ts merry-go-round. On that note, I gave up the checklist. It had kept me bogged down on getting everything checked off. If I didn't check it off, I felt frustrated and condemned that I couldn't keep up. When I finally realized that I could let God order my steps every day, recognizing that I only had to focus on today, not yesterday or tomorrow, I then experienced freedom. All is possible with Christ. Mark provides a very straight-forward guide to learn about your identity in Christ, to learn how to discern the lies of the enemy and live in victory, and to learn how you can know you are forgiven by God and how it’s possible to forgive others. This is only a few of the topics. I highly recommend this book. God could use this book to change your life. I know this teaching certainly changed mine. I am grateful to God and to the ministry of Grace Life and to Mark for putting these life principles in print. May you be blessed also.

What a terrific book! After presenting the concept of living by Grace, i.e. allowing Christ to live through me, rather than living by a set of self-imposed “Christian rules”, Mark gently unpacks the entire “Trust Him Christianity” vs. the “Try Harder Christianity” approach. I must admit, knowing Mark, I expected the “Grace Life Concept” to be at the core of the book, but I never fully understood it and I never imagined that he would support that approach with real life examples from his extensive counseling experience. After the first few chapters, I was convinced that he’d written the book just for me! More and more of his case studies and self-examination questions revealed a vast number of my issues, and spoke directly to my heart. As I continued through the rest of the book, I began to realize that I could no longer return to my rule-based approach to Christianity. I had assumed a completely new mindset, which provoked the start of my renewed relationship with, and in, Christ. I’m actually learning to live, and love, from the inside out. I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion…and I was honestly concerned that I might not like it. I never dreamed that it would be such a game changer! I have subsequently bought a dozen more copies for friends and family. As a Christian, it is impossible to read this book and come away unaffected

God's Best Kept Secret is a book any Christian should read--especially if struggling with feelings of failure or inadequacy. As a Christian who grew fatigued with "picking myself up by my own bootstraps," the teaching and wisdom of Mark Maulding, founded in the truth of Scripture, has been freeing breath of fresh air. If you are questioning God's opinion of you, your ability to succeed as a Christian or your eternal security, this is the book for you. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I started reading Mark Maulding’s book, God’s Best-Kept Secret, wondering what that best kept secret might be and why God would keep it secret. I quickly learned from the book that God is not hiding anything, but we Christians tend to get it wrong or overthink things that God made very easy for us. The book examines misconceptions about Christianity that are held by some Christians, and ways Christians have made living as a Christian harder than God ever intended for it to be. The book looks at the first relationship humans had with God (Adam and Eve), and how God’s intended relationship with us was made harder by human actions. It also looks at Christ’s sacrifice for us, and how the New Covenant restored our relationship with God, but some Christians still make it harder than it has to be to live a Christian life. Personally, this book really made me look at why I do what I do as a Christian, and what motivations are involved. I think such self-examination is a good thing for any Christian to do. I would recommend this book for any Christian or anyone critical of living a Christian life. It would be especially great for anyone who feels they are having trouble living up to being a “good Christian”. The author comes from both a pastor and counselor viewpoint, and as someone who has lived out a lot of the misconceptions involved in the book. There are also great examples of real-life stories about other people who have these same troubles as Christians. Most importantly, the author backs up his claims with scripture references that truly allows you to examine God’s Word. Note: I received an advance reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review of the author’s work.

This is a powerful book. I have been a Christian for more than 40 years and I have never had these truths explained to me so clearly. It IS possible to shed all the legalism and the lies we have come to believe about ourselves and about our heavenly Father, and live lives of genuine freedom. I couldn’t recommend this book more.

I was skeptical about this title – God’s best kept secret? Really? I have to admit the book challenged my paradigms in many areas. It is really thought-provoking. I found the theme of identity in general, and the chapter on forgiveness in specific, to be especially helpful. Our true identity is who we are in Christ, and our inability to grasp all that this means leads to innumerable difficulties in life. Talk about an identity crisis! This would be a great book to use in a group study so that the book can be digested slowly, discussed, and wrestled through. It’s that kind of book! NOTE: I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. What Mark Maulding offers here is a slight paradigm shift that could make a big difference (a positive one!) in your life. He makes several statements that likely won't sit well with many Christians at first glance. Please, do NOT put the book down and stop reading. You simply have to read the author's explanation, and then you'll understand what he's saying and why. If you take what he says to heart and start to live a little differently, you may find that you are more at peace.

There are just some books I can’t help dog-ear numerous pages and extensively underline passages, because I know there is far more buried between the lines than can be absorbed in a first read. Mark Maulding’s “Gods’ Best-Kept Secret” is one of those books that I can read and re-read to bask in that visceral hug with which the gospel in-folds our hearts. At times he rattles religious cages, as he excavates and dusts off scriptures that proclaim God’s unconditional acceptance of His children in a way that, unlike much of our dutiful thinking, motivates to truly know this God instead of just performing in the hope of being “good enough” to earn His favor. I received a pre-release copy in exchange for a straightforward review and found the book incredibly encouraging and clear about the wonder of who we really are in Christ, who He is in us, and all that signifies in finding rest for the soul. Latching onto what Mark is saying rearranges thoughts about ourselves and God, and is a welcome relief to much of what we hold to as believers in trying to produce good “fruit.” Reading this has helped me recognize some of the subtle deceptions I have believed about God and myself; it is a liberating read, and I have ordered copies for family and a number of friends. Thank you Mark for this labor of love you have passed on to your brothers and sisters in Christ.

The message of this book is very freeing. The teaching, the personal stories, and the exercises contained in the book helped me to see where my thinking had been influenced by the world and religion instead of by God’s truth. Even in a quick read through, I got some breakthroughs. While I have had head knowledge about God’s grace and the New Covenant, this book spoke directly to my heart. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a more meaningful relationship with God. (I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.)

God's Best Kept Secret is not only full of truth, but it is practical and easy to apply. I love all of the examples shared that helped me understand the concepts of Grace and Identity. They really made those ideas personal for me and helped me connect them to my own life. The questions at the end of each section were a great way for me to do more than just read the book...it became something I could live out. I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review, but thought the book was so helpful I have been recommending it to my friends.

God’s Best-Kept Secret is Mark’s warm counselor’s heart in a book. A heart filled with compassion for hurting Christians who are unable to make the Christian life work. A heart that longs to share God’s best-kept secret with struggling believers who are in the ideal position to give up their self-efforts and to begin resting in and living from the luxuriant life of Christ within. I will be revisiting this treasure for years to come to remind myself who I am in Christ and to live and love from His 24/7/365 indwelling life (I was blessed to receive a copy of God’s Best-Kept Secret in advance in exchange for my honest review. As a result of savoring it, I’ve already bought a copy for someone near and dear to my heart and have recommended it to many of my friends and family!)
