Film Noir in comic form. It's not required, but if you're a fan of a long-lost era of black and white film shot mostly in shadow where you knew good knew better than to even think about showing up to this particular end of bad's town, you'll go in fully prepared to enjoy everything about this story. Bendis captures the noir of this story of a soured love between a low-end con man and his hard-as-nails dame gal who has risen to the heights of the criminal underworld since their split nearly a decade ago. In this story of a revenge-fueled reunion that sprawls out to include an entire crime empire, a power-hungry district attorney, an old partner, a secret and a few dames that may or may not be in distress you find panels drowning in black ink to create the perfect blend of story and mood. Just don't expect anyone in a white hat to show up and you'll do just fine.
