Good Together by C. J. Carmichael

Some love stories have to begin with a falling-out-of-love story.
Mattie Carrigan's been helping her rodeo cowboy husband Wes Bishop run his family's Tennessee Walking Horse operation since they were married nineteen years ago. Blessed with twin daughters who've recently left for college, Mattie is looking forward to this new stage in her and Wes's life.
But when she finds a strange key in her husband's jacket, she's forced to admit that Wes has been quiet and distant lately. Turns out he has been keeping secrets. And he's not the only one. Even the rancher next door, Nat Diamond–a friend Mattie could always count on in the past–seems to be holding something back from her.
Good Together is for anyone who has ever pondered what it means to be married. Or had to reinvent her life when one breaks down. It's about having your heart broken but being strong enough to survive and love again.

Love Comes In Many Forms CJ Carmichael hits the spot in Good Together which covers young love, love that tests time, family love and true love. Mattie and Wes where married young. Mattie's supports Wes in all his endeavors and they are on the way to be empty nesters. Nate has admired Mattie from next door and always helped her when Wes is away at the rodeo. Does Wes take Mattie's love for granted? Will Nate come to the rescue?

What an emotional story. I could not put this book down. A story of starting over and moving on with life. Mattie's twin daughters go off to college and her husband states he wants to move out. Her life long friend/neighbor, Nat steps up to help her with the ranch and emotionally. As things he heat up, he steps back though. All I can say is, I Love Nat!!

A wonderfully written story that takes you through all the emotions you want in a great book. This is the story of losing the one you thought you would be with until the end and what do you do to move on. Mattie didn't see the end of her marriage coming. She had been married to Wes for 19 years. They have raised twin daughters who are in collage now and it's time for them to start enjoying their home by themselves. But, when Wes comes home from his rodeo gig and tells Mattie, it's over. It was a huge shock. He moves out right away. Next he starts selling all the horse, even the ones, that belonged to their daughters. the house and land is soon to follow. With the help of a good neighbor, Nat, Mattie is able to try to put the pieces back together. She slowly starts falling for Nat. But, he tells her they can't have a relationship. He still sends signals that he is interested and this confuses Mattie. What isn't he telling her? Why can't they be together? What does Mattie to to find out his secrets? I loved this story and wasn't ready for it to end.

Divorce Mattie and Wes has been married for over 20 years and her twins are freshman in college. But something I'd off in their marriage. He comes home from a rodeo and tells her he's done. What do you do when your life falls apart. Thank goodness for your neighbor Nat. He is the shoulder she needs until she realizes its motte.

This ranch based story was rather grim, however, it was mostly a solid read. Material in some chapters go slower than a crawl, while others are fast paced. I am glad I took a chance to read this.

Mattie and Wes Bishop were married for 19 years when he told her he was selling their ranch which included their horse training operation, quitting the rodeo and leaving her. Mattie was shocked by this and even though they had started to grow apart she thought that now that their twins were in college, she and Wes would be able to spend more time together - not separate. When Mattie is suddenly alone, she has no idea what to do so she stays home for a week and cries.  She finds out she has friends that are much better than she realized. She comes to rely on her neighbor, Nat, for a lot of things but doesn't realize that he has had deep feelings for her for years. I didn't think I would like this book because I expected it to be negative and sad.  Yes, Mattie certainly had some sad times but she was a strong woman who handled all the terrible things that were happening in her life and moved on.  I really liked this book and I'm glad I read it. I loved the way the author took us through Mattie's journey after her husband left her. She had always been a good wife and mother as well as horse trainer but felt her and her husband were a team so she didn't need to handle anything on her own. Even though she came across as a strong, capable woman, she did let her husband call the shots and walk all over her so I liked it when she picked herself up and took control of her life. I did like how this story ended but thought the ending was a little rushed. The characters were very well developed and I could identify with them like I knew them. I loved Mattie and the way she handled her life after her husband left.  I could understand her concern with telling her daughters what had happened and loved the way the girls "grew up" trying to comfort their mother and they worried about her. Wes, however, was not a likable man.  Sounds like he had a mid-life crisis but Mattie was the one who paid for his inadequate feelings. I was glad when even his daughters didn't look forward to spending time with him.  Payback's a b****. Nat was a terrific man who was always there for Mattie even though he had his own problems. I highly recommend this emotional tale about a strong woman making the most of her life after being blind sided by her spouse's declaration that he was leaving.

Mattie Carrigan and her husband Wes Bishop have been good together for almost twenty years. Yet, when their daughters takeoff for college, Wes sees it as a good time to take off as well. He’s still got a life to live and Mattie and his inherited ranch aren’t in it! Mattie is shocked when Wes says he’s leaving. Seriously? Wes doesn’t make snap decision and he’s ripping her world out from under her without even a conversation! Being alone for the first time in her life, Mattie realizes that she doesn’t want to be alone – she wants more. Hott Review: Magnificent! Kudos to C.J. Carmichael!! Good Together is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. Yes, it’s categorized as a romance, but it’s not just a romance. Actually, it’s a story about Mattie. Mattie shocked, heart-broken, coming to terms with her life, living. I can’t wait for the rest of the series!! More… Author: C.J. A stupid female is the worst. Her inability to fight back was beyond disappointing. Will not read series. Prefer strong woman not door mats.
