Goong, Vol. 1: The Royal Palace by So Hee Park, Sohee Park

Monarchy ended long ago in Korea, but there are still other countries with Kings, Queens, princes and princesses. What if Korea had continued monarchism? What if all the beautiful palaces which are now only historical relics were actually filled with people?! What if the glamorous royal family still maintained the palace customs?! Welcome to a world where Korea still has the royal family living their lives! Only for one high school girl, Che-Kyung, is this a tragedy, since she has to marry the prince who apparently is a total jerk!

I love all types of manga and manwha, as do many of my friends. One of my friends started reading Goong and got the rest of us hooked! It is at times funny, sad, and heart wrenching. The main characters are awesome and the drawings are also very well done. If you liked the drama, I think you will like this even better as it goes into greater character depth and background for each of the main and supporting characters.

I've watched the series and read all of the graphic novels out so far in korean (11 or so, i think)...the series is fantastic and the plot line is amazing. the arwork is phenomenal and wow. I myself am Korean, so it was definitely a plus to see a different type of Korea, even if it was an entriely 'what-if' situation.

From what I've seen from the Korean Drama, Goong ('Palace' in Korean, but called 'Princess Hours' in the drama) I think this will be REALLY good. (I'm addicted to the T.V drama!) The prince is smooth, cool, and cold while the girl is really spunky and sweet. I hope I'll like the manga as much as the drama. Watch 'Princess Hours!' Or Goong.

What exactly happens in this book?? The editorial wasn't helpful at all. So, a high school girl is engaged to a prince. The prince is not... good. He's terrible. That's all I got outta the review.

This manga is amazing, and I am so excited that it's coming out into the English market. The storyline and the characters, I think, are really fantastic and totally win you over. Overall, Goong is counted among my favorite manga--and I've read a lot. It's wonderful entertainment.

Well at first che kyung hates the prince. The prince has no interest in her at al in the beginning. The prince decided to proposes to the girl he kinda likes since he doesnt want to marry the girl he doesnt even know yet. But the girl rejects him and the prince and che kyung gor married soon afterwards, the prince's cousin came back from england. The cousin fell in love with che kyung. The prince not knowing this began to like his wife. After the prince and his cousin found out that they both like che kyung, they began to "fight" for her. In the end che kyung and her husband live happily together.
