Grimm's Furry Tail by Kathi Daley

A Whales and Tails cozy mystery series is set on Madrona Island, a fictional island within the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington State. As a fourth generation islander Caitlin Hart is struggling to make her way as the economy and culture of the island evolves toward a tourism based industry. Cait lives in a cabin on her aunt's oceanfront estate where she helps her aunt run Harthaven Cat Sanctuary. When she isn't working with the cats, she helps best friend Tara, operate Coffee Cat Books, a coffee bar/bookstore/cat lounge.

Like all Kathi Daley Cozies, this series will include close friendships, a romance element, and recipes. This series differs from the others in that there is a 'light' paranormal element as Caitlin is helped in her investigation by Bella and Tansy, two very intuitive women who sell herbs and tell fortunes, and a series of extremely helpful cats who seem to show up and point her in the right direction at just the right time.

Grimm's Furry Tail: Caitlin's friend Cody buys the old newspaper and discovers a previously unpublished edition that details a murder that occurred decades ago. The fact that the story was written but never published piques the curiosity of the friends, who decide to delve into a cold case that reaches back fifty years. When the truth is discovered they struggle with the ramifications of what they have uncovered. They know that revealing it will rock the small island community to its core.

In this book the 26 year old mystery was solved that popped up at the end of book 2. It ends with a big bomb shell! Really enjoying the Whales and Tails mysteries by Kathi Daley.

This is the third in the (as of now) 8 book series Whale's and Tails by Kathi Daley. And thank heavens, for my peace of mind, it wraps up all the mysteries to this point. I still want to read the rest of the series and I'm sure you will too. I have to admit there are enough curve balls, twists and turns that I really did not see the outcome before it was revealed. It will be interesting to see how these mysteries and secrets are or are not revealed in the rest of the series! There really are some secrets that should NEVER be revealed!

It's going to be a little hard trying to review this without giving too much away, because there is so much to this book. There is an old murder mystery, does it tie into a new one? The mystery had plenty of twists and turns and side stories. I found it interesting that this story picks up where the last book left off, however if you haven't read the last book, I don't think that you will have any trouble reading it as a stand alone. I love the characters and their interaction with each other, young, old and quirky. I definitely will continue on with this series.

Another amazing book written by Kathi. I really loved how the cat was used to try to help in the case. Emily did a great job in solving the case. She goes straight to the hurricane without looking back in order to find justice. I was hoping that her and Cody were going to get back together. Guess I would have to find out in the next book it if happens. This book has an amazing cover. As I read I kept on trying to decipher who the killer was. It had some shocking moments that I didn't expect.

I LOVE every single one of the books in this series! The characters are wonderful and made me fall in love with them right away, and the cat sanctuary island is way too cool! I want to live there. If you like cozy mysteries with very intriguing plot twists, you'll adore Kathi Daley's Whales and Tails series!

Grimm's Furry Tail by Kathi Daley is the third book in her Whales and Tails series. It picks up exactly where book #2, The Mad Catter, ended as it continues with the the mystery of the unprinted newspaper article that Cody and Cait has found. Cait, Cody, Tara, Danny and Finn are becoming more developed characters that seem very down-to-earth people to me. I really like them and I can imagine meeting them and becoming friends. The secondary characters are so supportive and coming into their own as well. In fact, some of the twists in this story strongly involve some of the secondary characters. Madrona Island sounds like a wonderful place to live. Kathi's scene descriptions of the island are so vivid that I can see the island through Cait's eyes. The plot moves quickly and smoothly. There are so many questions that come up during this murder investigation and twists that I had to keep turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next. I really love this series and I am looking forward to the next one in this s.

This third installment of Kathi Daley's Whales and Tails Mystery series is another winner. The story begins the day after "The Mad Catter", the second book in this story ends. You are hooked by the end of the second paragraph when the main character Caitlin is awakened in the night to a moment that will change everything she and the residents of her town thought were true. Cait lives on Madrona Island, helping her aunt run a cat sanctuary and is building to open a cat café and book store with her best friend Tara. Life in this small town is filled with political drama, quirky characters, gossip, close friendships, church activities and quirky characters of all ages. The plot is centered on an old newspaper article about a local murder that was never published. Cait and her friend Cody, who is buying the local newspaper. decide to investigate why it was never published. The next morning Cait stumbles across her third murdered body in three weeks. It is the previous owner of the newspaper and they wonder if his death is connected to the old case. Cait visits Tansy, ne of the local intuitive "witches" who knows things. Tansy warns her that "with knowing comes a burden that, at times is best carried alone. Cait discovers some secrets which are a burden, but has to share some of them with Cody, Tara, her brother Danny and Finn the local sheriff. Cait finds her way through the case with the help of Emily, a stray kitten who is as intuitive as Tansy. Like all of Kathi's mysteries, there are many twists to the plot, vivid descriptions of locales you can visualize, characters of all generations you care about, the development of possible romantic relationships, and an ending you will not be able to totally figure out. This series also has good recipes with common ingredients. I made the Picnic Summer Slaw yesterday and it was delicious. I highly recommend this series.

“Grimm’s Furry Tail” is the third book in Kathi Daley’s Whales and Tails Mystery series. This book has everything you want … humor, friendships, love interest, mystery, and loveable animals and all presented without offensive language, adult situations, or graphic violence. Emily is the special kitten who Tansy and Bella sent to Caitlin's cabin to help her find clues to yet another murder. The possibility of romance in the future between Caitin and Cody makes me smile and the caring of friends for each other warms my heart. One of the great things about all Ms. Daley’s books is that they are character driven. She knows how to write about characters that are likeable and interesting and that the reader wants to get to know better. I highly recommend any of Ms. Daley’s books to anyone of any age who enjoys a good, clean mystery.

Grimm's Furry Tail is the third book in the Whales and Tails Mystery series. I've now read all three. I've enjoyed all of them. The characters are well-developed. There is a story line which flows through all the books, but I think they stand well on their own. There's enough background review to keep new readers from feeling lost, but not so much that those who have read all the books get bored. Grimm's Furry Tail focused on a 50-year-old murder and the people involved in it. It was solved in the end, with enough twists to keep things interesting. I look forward to more books about Caitlin, her friends, and her island community.

The third installment in the Madrona Island cozy mystery series leaves the reader with a lot of answers and ideas about how we want the series to progress. I want some romances to flourish and some characters to grow up a bit and start being more helpful to their business partner (I'm looking at you Cait). I hope to see more Maggie (she deserves a romance after all these years, perhaps a new vet on the island) and instead of a new kitty showing up on Cait's doorstep to help her solve the mystery, perhaps she could just get a kitten who lives with her and Max. So that's what I would like to happen in the future, here's what I thought of this book. It was a quick read, which left many possibilities for more stories. There are enough main characters to keep the reader interested, but not too many to make it hard to keep track. The murder in this one was interesting and the why it happened really sets the reader up for future installments. Anyone interested in this book should read the first two books first, in my opinion, this is not a stand-alone book.

Kathi Daley has written another fun mystery for those who enjoy her Whales and Tails Mystery Series.   Caitlin and her dog Max have an  early morning visitor.   An orange tabby named Emily provides clues for the next who-done-it Caitlin is drawn to solve.  Along with her favorite beau, Cody, will they solve the continued mystery discovered in the old newspapers?  Kathi has provided many questions and twists mixed with the clues from Emily to keep the pages turning.  Can't wait for the next book to come out so I can find out where Caitlin  and Cody's relationship will go and will the Coffee and Cat bookstore open on time?

This is the third book in Kathi Daley's Whales and Tails Mystery series. With great creativity and an imagination that flows smoothly on to every page, Kathi Daley brings us a continuation of the adventures of Caitlin Hart and her friends in the Madrona Islands. Each adventure introduces a cat or kitten sent by Tansy and Bella to assist Cait in solving a mystery and/or addressing unanswered questions from earlier books in the series. In Grimm’s Furry Tail, a kitten named Emily enters Cait’s life. This story begins the day after the events in "The Mad Catter" concluded. Cody is buying the old newspaper office from the former editor who has retired and moved to the mainland. While sorting through the detritus he finds a journal and an old newspaper from 26 years ago that was never published. The front page article in that paper was written about a murder. Another newspaper with the same date was printed and distributed but it did NOT have the article about a murder! Cody and Caitlyn are curious, of course, and want to figure out what happened and why it was not published. Caitlin stumbles upon another body after solving a recent murder. The victim is the former owner of the local newspaper who was supposed to meet with her friend Cody who is buying the old newspaper office from him. Orson, the former editor, was investigating an old story. While sorting through the boxes left in the newspaper storage Cody finds a journal and 2 old newspaper stories from 26 years ago one published and one unpublished. Did a murder occur or didn’t one? Orson is returning to the island to pack up his stuff. Before he makes it to his former office, or meets with Cody, he was murdered. Typical of small town living, as questions are asked and lead to answers, the gossip mill is active, as well as scandal(s), making room for more questions, that lead to answers. There are twists and turns to the plot and mysteries abound together with the revelation of many secrets. Perhaps they should not be shared. Vivid descriptions of the beauty of the Islands, the ocean, the sunrises and the sunsets make me wish I could live there with Cait, Aunt Maggie, and all their friends. A hint of romance between Cait and Cody makes me happy. I can’t wait to read how their relationship grows! Once I started, I couldn’t stop reading this book until it was finished. Kathi Daley amazes me. She currently writes four series, including the "Whales & Tails Mystery Series.", "Zoe Donovan Series", "TJ Jensen Paradise Lake Series" and her newest series is the "Seacliff High" written for teen and adults. I highly recommend any and all of Kathi's books to anyone of any age who enjoys a good, clean mystery. As with all of Kathi Daley’s books, “Grimm’s Furry Tail” can be enjoyed without reading the earlier books in the series. However, I prefer to read the series in order. I like the continuity, as well as the setting for the novel, the small town on the island. And, of course, the cats! I highly recommend this novel for readers of all ages who enjoy cozy mysteries with a potential to include romance, in which the sleuth is a feisty young woman. There are delicious recipes included in the book, and I am looking forward to sampling a number of them. gination that flows smoothly on to every page, Kathi Daley brings us a continuation of the adventures of Caitlin Hart and her friends in the Madrona Islands. This is the third book in Kathi Daley's Whales and Tails Mystery series!  And how cute is the title.  This book was a sure, "I did not put it down until I finished!  Love the way the book picked right up where the last one left off.  Not one to disclose plots, but what an am amazing job of making a very old unsolved mystery come to life and open up a new murder too.  Each book wants me to visit the small fictional island,  And the characters become more endearing with each page.  A little romance is a brewing.  The animals seem real and so almost human.  Read the whole series and enjoy this laster wonder from Kathi Daley.  Next book out yet?
