Overview

FEAR STREET — WHERE YOUR WORST NIGHTMARES LIVE...

The invitation arrived in a black-borderred envelope and was delivered by the beautiful and mysterious transfer student. The inside showed a coffin with the inscription "reserved for You" — perfect for an al-night Halloween party in an old house on Fear Street.

The party was well under way when the lights went out. That's to be expected at the Halloween party. But when the lights came back on, there was a boy on the floor with a knife in his back. Just a Halloween prank? Maybe. Maybe not.

Now the guests trick-or-treating has turned to terror. And it looks like someone's idea of a party game is murder!

This book was a spine chillingly good one. R L. Stine sure does know how to write thrillers. Anyone should read this on Halloween night.

Nine people are sent an invitation by their classmate Justine, to a Halloween party. Only it's at one of the supposedly haunted houses on Fear Street. The night of the party arrives and the nine will soon find this to be a Halloween they'll never forget. This was a fund scary read with good suspense and quite the page turner.

The book I read is "Halloween Party," by R.L. Stine. This is about a small number of teens getting invited to a mysterious party on Halloween. The part of the story where I feel is most suspenseful is towards the end. This is because this is where all the little things in the story come together and starts to explain itself. It is also suspenseful because this is when the teens are in the house, where there is a fire going on, and they can't get out because the host trapped them in there and wants them all to get burned in the fire. It is suspenseful because the author uses great detail in describing what is happening while the fire is about to burn and kill all the teens. The mystery that must be solved is why the mysterious gorgeous new student invited only a certain amount of people and only those people to her Halloween party. The fact is that no one in the school exactly knows her that well and she doesn't know much about others either (except for the people she invited to the party, but we find that out at the end of the story), yet she invites these different people to come to her Halloween party. The setting affects the mystery because the setting is actually in a big scary mansion, sitting on top of a hill, there are gravestones on the way up the hill, and it stands on the creepiest street in the little town, Fear Street. This party also starts in the night till and it ends at dawn. This setting makes the story even scarier, spookier, and a bit more mysterious. I loved how the author picked such a great setting and also paid attention to all the small little details that made this book so interesting.

Why me? This is the question some of the invited ask when one of the most popular girls in school invites them to a Halloween Costume Party. Little do the nine who were invited know that their lives will soon change forever. Reminds me of the movie CLUE. I was a little disappointed

The plot in this story is very fast paced and contains many twists. This makes the book a quick read that is very engaging. This book is also a good example of realistic fiction, because readers can relate to many of the characters. The events in the story are a little unbelievable, but they could still possibly occur.

Possible Spoiler Alert:Interesting that it's obvious there's something wacko with Justine the whole time. What I didn't guess was what she was planning to do and why (besides murder everyone- that was obvious). The bit about Fear Street seemed incongruous with the rest of the series- if half the houses are abandoned, how are there enough places for everyone in the series to live? Why is there all the sudden a giant mansion by the cemetery on this poor street?
