Cody needs a heart. He is on a list and awaiting a donor. Someone is targeting his mother and stepfather Why ? This is a fast paced and keeps you in suspense I don't want to give away the plot. It gave me a lot to think about. Yes, like in most fiction there is a stretch for the story line but you have to read it for yourself . Zack s thoughts about how he was not the right husband for Kristy who was the widow of his best friend was too often repeated but the author wrote a good ending and I enjoyed the book

I have loved every book I've read by Liz Johnson. This book easily falls into that category. The Men of Valor Series are all amazing books, and they are great stand alone stories as well. Hazardous Holiday was so much fun to read. It was different than any book I've read before because the main characters are already married, but didn't plan to stay that way. Zach and Kristi knew each other as kids, but not so much as adults. Knowing she needs his help Zach offers to marry Kristi and move her and her son Cody to his house. Little does he know that's just the beginning of what he will need to do for them. Zach would do anything to have his cousin alive again, but since that's impossible he vows to take care of his widow. Going away on deployment gives him just enough time to have her Cody set up in his house and on his insurance before he leaves. When his deployment is up, is when it gets interesting. Kristi is used to having the house to herself, and that all changes when her husband comes home. To say the situation is unique is an understatement. When weird things start happening there is no one better to have by her side. Zach is a SEAL and he will do everything in his power to protect his new family. Can they figure out who is after them before someone really gets hurt? I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a one of a kind suspense. I really enjoyed everything in this book. The story unfolded great and I liked watching the relationships grow. It was fun to see the, fight emotions that married people should have for each other. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.

I’ve been a big fan of Liz Johnson’s books since reading her very first one and I have yet to be disappointed! I was so excited to read this book, though maybe even more so when I realized I somehow (gasp) missed reading the two books that come directly before it! I have no idea how that happened, but it has since been corrected and I was so happy to realize that I was going to get to read 3 new books by one of my favorite authors, rather than just one. Though you technically don’t have to read this series in order, the other stories are all excellent, so why not? Ms. Johnson’s books always hold my attention from the first chapter, and with this one, it was the very first line! I adore marriage of convenience stories and add in suspense and a SEAL team and you have all the ingredients for a book I’m almost guaranteed to love. I definitely enjoyed the bit of a mystery and the guessing of who the culprit was and what they wanted that kept me on my toes. Ms. Johnson once again did an excellent job of creating a story and characters that were fully engaging. I so enjoy how she describes things, with the unique words and details sprinkled throughout that add an extra layer of depth and quirk to her tales. She alternates holding my breath captive through a suspense scene and making me laugh/sigh at a sweet moment. As always, the characters were my favorite part. I adored Cody, Kristi’s son, who was so precious and lovable. And obviously Kristi and Zach, though I felt so silly for not remembering that his nickname was Ziggy and I’d met him in the previous books. I enjoyed getting to know both of them as they worked to figure out how their marriage was going to work and how to keep each other safe. Zach has spent years in training and then protecting people and how he has to protect those who mean the most to him. He doubts himself at times and I loved Kristi’s faith in him when he second guesses himself. Kristi at the same time wonders if she’s enough or if she’s made a mistake in jumping into another marriage, while at the same time battling the grief of moving on without her late husband. There were so many layers to their characters and my only mild disappointment with this story was how few of those I saw. There were simply so many things going on and with a story that’s rather short by my standards, sometimes it’s hard to fit in the depth I always enjoy. I rarely come across modern marriage of convenience stories and I have to say that this one was very well written. It’s very realistic with their questions and concerns and I appreciated the conversations they had, trying to work things out and figuring out how to move forward. Oh! And I have to add that the ending was so perfect! Definitely a sigh and read it again ending! And then read it again, and again, and again, until you get tired of the sweetness of it. Overall, I would highly recommend this engaging story to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense paired with marriage of convenience and an adorable kid. My thanks to the author for my copy of this book! I was not required to write a positive review and have not been compensated for it in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is the best romantic suspense book I've read in awhile. I love the unique romance plot - of two people who start off already married (out of necessity) but only become romantically involved once their lives are at stake. The author also does a good job of making this process seem realistic, not at all out of nowhere or cheesy. The life-or-death suspense aspect of this book is top notch. It surprised me throughout - I never saw any of the many twists coming. Really great writing. If you like scary books with a lot of heart included, this one will not disappoint.

Navy SEAL Zach McCloud is determined to protect those under his care. Just returned from deployment, he arrives to find his ready-made family in need of safeguarding. Someone wants them dead and he aims to get to the bottom of it. Recently widowed, Kristi Tanner, only agreed to marry Zach because of her five-year-old son, Cody. Her son is on the heart transplant list and is deteriorating with each passing day. Hazardous Holiday is a great suspense read that will have you turning the pages to get to the bottom of who is trying to kill the McCloud family. Liz Johnson has created a sigh-worthy hero who is tough but also has a soft heart. This is book five in Liz’s Men of Valor series with Harlequin’s Love Inspired Suspense line. I highly recommend it. So kick up your feet and relax with this unusual Christmas read. You won’t be disappointed. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that was provided by the author and Harlequin. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are my own. – 2016.

Wow! This was such a well written and unique story. It was a little different than the usual Love Inspired suspense because of the modern marriage of convenience angle, but that made it all the more interesting to me. Great characters, plenty of danger and some great plot twists combined for a story that was impossible to put down! Plot: When widow Kristi Tanner's son, Cody, is ailing and in need of a heart transplant, a temporary marriage to her husband's cousin will provide her with the financial security and proximity to better hospitals that she needs. During the first year of their 'marriage-in-name-only' Navy SEAL Zach McCloud is deployed overseas. Upon his return, the family is nearly run off the road quite deliberately. With threat after threat coming at them and Cody's health failing while he waits for a new heart, it will take everything Zach has to keep his family safe. All the while, both Kristi and Zach must guard their hearts, for they didn't intend to make the marriage permanent. Characters: Zach is definitely my kind of hero! You've got to love a man that will step up and take care of a child that's not his own. I always enjoy a story of unrequited love, and Zach's had a thing for Kristi since he was 18. Kristi is such a great mom and she's willing to do anything to protect her son. My heart just goes out to her as she's struggling with her son's illness. I loved how much faith and trust that six-year-old Cody had! His character was so well written and genuine. Recommendation: I'd highly recommend this book, and any other by Liz Johnson. It kept me guessing what would happen until the end. If you enjoy Romantic Suspense, you'll love the non-stop action of Hazardous Holiday. It's part of the Men of Valor series, but completely stands alone. Rating: 5/5 stars I received a copy of this book from the author. This review is my honest opinion.

Suspenseful page turner that keeps you guessing till the end. Throw into the mix a different sort of marriage of convenience and a very ill child and you have a book you don't want to put down. Liz Johnson has a way with words that grabs you and leaves you wanting more. Her characters are always well developed. I love books of second chances and heroes that put God and family before themselves. I highly recommend this read. I was given a complimentary copy by the author. The review and honest opinions are my own.

Hazardous Holiday is Liz Johnson’s fifth installment in her Men of Valor Series. And, in my opinion, it is the best yet. (Will there be a sixth? Please…) In the Prologue, Navy SEAL, Zach McCloud, journeys to Montana and kind of proposes to his cousin’s widow, Kristi. He’s made a mental leap and acts on his conclusions without any explanation to Kristi. Kristi Tanner is still mired in grief over her husband’s death a little over a year before. She’s struggling to maintain the family ranch. Her adorable son, Cody, needs a heart transplant. With all this, she needs emotional, financial and medical support. He can provide that. He has prayed about it. This will be a marriage in name only… a marriage of convenience. That he has loved her since he was sixteen is something he will have to keep to himself. Thirteen months after they marry, Zach returns from a deployment and suddenly his little family is under attack. And the rocket ride of suspense, danger, love and faith just doesn’t stop. In addition to having a top-notch suspense and action storyline, this book is a study in contrasts. One of the things I loved most was the contrast of Zach’s SEAL persona and his sweet spirit and faith. He is their fierce protector, their provider. He does whatever needs to be done. He will watch over them and keep them safe, but he also loves them dearly. He is caring and tender with Cody, but not sappy. He shows his love for Kristi in kind and practical ways, even while believing she could never love him. Kristi is very vulnerable and uncertain about this odd marriage she’s contracted into. She’s a loving mother and a total tiger when it comes to protecting her son. She’s smart and beautiful. Positive and cheerful, despite his failing health, Cody is a smart, strong little boy with a deep faith in God. He has a little boy’s obsession with cool cars, but is very, very wise for a six-year-old. The evolution of their love story is one of the very best I have read. The character development is superb. Liz Johnson’s writing keeps getting better and better. I loved Zach, Kristi and Cody. And I really, really liked this book. I can’t hardly wait for her next book… There is still one unattached SEAL. I was given a complimentary copy by the author. This review and the opinions are my own.

Liz Johnson's fifth book in her 'Men of Valor' series starts off great and keeps on going, practically without pause, the entire book. This is suspense at its finest. Navy SEAL Zach McCloud returns home from deployment and proposes marriage to his cousin's widow, feeling she needs help with her dangerously ill little boy. Kristi accepts his proposal and he's off on deployment again. Then, when he returns, they both discover someone wants one of them dead. The books races toward a satisfying ending from here on. Liz Johnson has created a plot that is terrifyingly real, with very believable characters and a wonderful spiritual theme. I enjoyed every minute and finished it in one day! *I was give a preview copy of this book by the author. My review is my own honest opinion.
