Heat by Karen Foley

Callie McClain is back in Montana after a twelve year absence to care for her ailing father, despite the fact she can't stand the cold and isolation. But in an ironic twist of fate, it seems Montana is finally giving her what she wants--blistering heat and a fiery glow that threatens to incinerate everything in its path. Wildfire. The only thing hotter than the advancing flames is the smokejumper who comes to her rescue, and suddenly Callie is finding reasons why Montana might just have everything she's ever wanted.

Tyler Dodson can't recall a time when he didn't want to be a smokejumper. There's nothing as dangerous--or as exhilarating--as jumping, until he rescues a pretty veterinarian from an advancing wildfire. He knows he shouldn't get involved. He doesn't need that kind of complication in his life, and distractions of any kind can be deadly in his line of work. So why can't he keep his mind – and his hands – off of Callie McClain?

Callie , A vet, returned to take care of family however when a wildfire endangers her life, she meets Tyler, the smokejumper sent in to save them. Again love the community and the progression of these characters as they deal with the job and changes to follow their hearts. Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

This was a wonderful addition to the firefighters series. Callie was a great character and so was Tyler. They had great chemistry. Their biggest hangup is that the lived so far away from each other. Tyler was certain he couldn't ever make a long distance relationship work, so they were just in it for the short term, or at least that was the plan. It was fun seeing how Tyler changed throughout the story. It was really easy to like him.

Reviewed by Rosie Malezer for Readers' Favorite Heat is the fourth book in the Firefighters of Montana series, written by Karen Foley. As a smokejumper for the Montana Forest Service, Tyler Dodson risks his life each day, staring down fires before he jumps into the flames, saving countless lives. Tyler finds his job both challenging and rewarding, even after it almost costs him his life. When a father and daughter, Frank and Callie McClain, refuse to evacuate their home, Tyler jumps into the middle of one of the worst wildfires of the season in order to save them, only to find himself at a wolf sanctuary, with the owners determined to find a way to save their animals before saving themselves. After Tyler evacuates the owners, he succumbs to the smoke and wakes in hospital, with Callie by his bedside. Determined to keep his personal life simple, he refuses to become emotionally involved with any woman, especially since smokejumpers are away for months at a time, but Callie is just as determined to be in his life, regardless of the sacrifices. After tragedy strikes, Callie leaves Montana, but Tyler is never far from her mind ... or her heart. Karen Foley’s novel was a real pleasure to read. The addition of the animal welfare story line was a breath of fresh air, showing how people are willing to put their own lives on the line to save that of another species. Heat provides comprehensive back stories of the main characters, leaving no stone unturned, enabling the reader to easily follow the story from beginning to end. I shed a tear or two during the reading of this particular novel; such strong emotions filled each page, whether happiness, hurt, anger, fear or stubbornness. Karen Foley has written a realistic tale of love and heartache through misadventure. I very much enjoyed the fourth novel in the Firefighters of Montana series and not only look forward to the fifth, but also plan on seeking out Karen Foley’s other works. I recommend Heat to readers who love an action-packed, suspenseful and gripping romance.

Callie McClain has returned to Montana to take care of her father who recently had a heart attack. When a wildfire threatens the wolf sanctuary that her dad operates only a strong willed Montana smoke jumper can convince him to leave. Tyler Dodson decided after his divorce that he would never marry again. When the two run into one another again things begin to change but can they survive a long distance relationship. I really enjoyed this book! Callie and Tyler's story was intriguing and left me happy and wanting more.

Another fun read in the series! Callie and Tyler are strong characters that are worlds apart but a chance meeting is unforgettable. Callie left Montana to go to school and become a vet, but didn't come back, tired of competing with the wolves for her father's attention. She returns to help him after his heart attack. So focused on his recovery, she doesn't realize that the wildfire is upon them until it is almost too late. Luckily, three smoke jumpers arrive just in time, and one convinces her father to leave. Tyler Dodson is a veteran smoke jumper who is settled in his life. He has made his mistakes, and decided that he isn't cut out for a happily ever after. When his job helps him rescue Callie and her father, he can't get her out of his mind. Unfortunately, she is heading back to California, and with his past, he is not interested in a long-distance relationship. Fortunately, life knows better. The story was fun and I enjoyed this addition to the series. The story kept me engrossed and was definitely rooting for them to find their way back to each other. ** I received an advanced copy from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Tyler Dodson woke to the sound of the alarm blaring in the early morning light. Tyler is a smokejumper out of Glacier Falls and he has a fire to get to. An unfortunate situation leaves Tyler and a couple other guys heading to a structure fire and evacuation. Callie McClain is trying hard to get her father moving with the fire so close to their home but he is too worried about the wolves. With five wolves in the truck, they have to leave now. While Callie is trying to pry her father off of the fencing, she sees three firemen heading their way. It is Tyler that Callie sees first and for the moment forgets what is happening around her. When Tyler ends up in the hospital due to too much exposure to the smoke, Callie finds herself walking into his room to thank him for saving them. However, the more time she spends with him, the harder she is finding it to walk away. After all, long distance relationships do not work out. Can they enjoy the time they have and leave it at that? This is book #4 for this series and I realize I cannot get enough! I am enjoying the characters and their story lines. I highly recommend this book!

"Heat" incorporates romance, adventure, and knowledge about smokejumpers and wolf sanctuaries. "Heat" by Karen Foley is book four in the "Firefighters of Montana" series. This is veterinarian, Callie McClain and smokejumper, Tyler Dodson's story. Callie is home to help her dad recover from a heart attack when a dangerous wildfire is coming toward Callie's father's home and wolf sanctuary. She can't get her dad to leave. That's where Tyler and his smokejumpers come in and help. From the start there was a connection between Callie and Tyler. They are both concerned about starting a long distance relationship. Will they ignore this attraction or decide to take a chance on love? FYI, includes mature content. I received a copy of this from Tule Publshing for an honest review. I enjoyed Callie and Tyler's characters. This book kept my interest from beginning to end. I'm looking forward to reading additional books by Karen Foley.

Tyler Dodson is a smoke jumper stationed in Glacier Creek Montana. He's worked hard to become the man that he is today. He learned from his mistakes even though the lessons were hard. When he and his men rescue Callie McClain and her father plus their wolves from a deadly wildfire. Tyler is drawn to the feisty Callie. Even though he doesn't want to be. He won't take a chance on love again. Will this meeting change his life? Callie loves her father. She knows that she can't compete with his wolves, but she has to try. She owes her life to Tyler and his men. She wants to see him again. Soon she'll be going home to Monterey. She knows long distance relationships don't work, but she can't stay away. I liked both characters. They have baggage that haunted them. I wished them love and happiness. This is an emotional story. I wanted to tell them to take a chance. Karen Foley wrote a touching story. The characters, the setting and the romance made me fall in love with the Firefighters of Montana one more time. This is such a great series.

An exciting and emotionally charged story. Callie McClain has returned to Montana to help care for her father. She really doesn’t want to be there. She would rather have her father return to California with her. When a fire threatens their safety, it is Tyler Dodson who rescues them. Tyler lived for his job. He always wanted to be a smokejumper. He lived for the danger and excitement of the job. He doesn’t have room for a woman in his life, but he can’t get Callie out of his mind. Sparks fly between Callie and Tyler, but Tyler knows they can’t have anything permanent with Callie living in California. How will they make this relationship work? This is another wonderful addition to the Firefighter of Montana series. I really liked the chemistry between Callie and Tyler. The story line was interesting and entertaining and kept my interest all the way to the very end.

A great addition to the series of hot, sexy Firefighters of Montana! In this story we read more about smokejumper Tyler. As the fire season is burning hot, they get called to fight one and also to evacuate two people. Callie is visiting her father when a nearby fire spreads threatening his house, land and animals. I liked their connection in this quick read story. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

An excellent quick read that's filled with emotion and one very sexy smokejumper. Veterinarian Callie McClain is back in Montana caring for her father and trying to convince him to return to California with her. When suddenly caught in a dangerous wildfire that threatens the wolf sanctuary he's put his heart and soul into, Callie can't convince him to leave. Thankfully a crew of smokejumpers arrive and Tyler Dodson, one of the jumpers, is able to convince her father to leave. After he safely gets the two out, Tyler can't seem to get the pretty vet out of his mind. When she shows up at the command post to thank him he wants nothing more than to spend time with her. Problem is he's there temporarily and so is she. Getting involved now is crazy. Right? Definitely one I recommend.

Callie came back to Montana to help her dad after his heart attack. He owns a wolf sanctuary and there is a fire bearing down on them. They have to get out fast and Callie's dad doesn't want to leave. Out of nowhere comes a firefighter and talks her dad into leaving. Tyler doesn't understand people who will not evacuate when they can. He comes upon a woman and her father who will be trapped if they don't get out right away. Callie is so thankful for the firefighter who helped them and is sure she will never see him again. They do see each other and they both know that nothing can come of any relationship because she lives in California and Tyler lives in Montana. Someone will have to give up something if they want to be together.
