A conspiring duchess. An amnesiac doppelgänger. Can hearts be true in the midst of double deception?

Anna feels little anguish when she sees the dead body of her husband. The young widow has no plans to mourn over the cruel Duke of Watkins, but she knows that his untimely death will put her at the mercy of his malicious younger brother. With help from her loyal butler, Anna smuggles away the body in the dead of night…

Anna hopes to keep her husband’s death a secret until she’s settled far from the reach of her spiteful brother-in-law. When she stumbles upon an unconscious, wounded man who bears an uncanny resemblance to the Duke, she wonders if she’s found the solution to all their problems. The stranger wakes up with no memories of his life, and Anna wastes no time convincing him of the lie…

As her husband’s doppelgänger begins to treat her like true royalty, Anna succumbs to his affections. Just when she thinks the charade is in the clear, the truth bubbles to the surface. Can Anna convince the amnesiac of her love before losing her husband a second time?

Her Counterfeit Husband is an enthralling Regency romance. If you like steamy sex scenes, suspenseful twists, and sizzling chemistry, then you’ll love Ruth Ann Nordin’s duplicitous tale.

About the Author

Ruth Ann Nordin has written seventy romances, ranging from Regencies to historical westerns to contemporaries. She plays with other genres from time to time, but her first love is romance. She has been happily married for eighteen years to a sweet and funny guy, and they have four sons, who are all taller than Ruth now that they're 12, 13, 14, and 16. The good thing is she doesn't need a ladder, and there's always someone to take care of a mouse that squeezes its way into her Montana home. She considers herself very lucky to have led such a charmed life. Being able to play with characters and create stories is just icing on the cake. Hopefully, she'll get to keep doing this many years to come.

I really like Ruth Ann Nordin's western romances, but I LOVE her regencies! Her Counterfeit Husband is definitely my favorite book by her so far. I won't go into details about the story because another reviewer did that, so I'll just say I couldn't put this book down. I loved the intrigue as well as the romance. There were a couple of surprises, which I always like in a book. If you like historical romance, this is the book for you!

Her Counterfeit Husband by Ruth Ann Nordin Anna, Duchess of Watkins has a problem. Her husband of six years is dying. Since he's cruel that might be good...only it could get worse. If he dies his brother, Lord Mason, will inherit the title and with the way he leers at her, it's hard to know which is the worst evil. Fortunately between her faithful butler, Appleton, and herself a plan is formed when her husband dies. And the plan gets even better when they happen to find her husband’s look alike and he has no memory but the one Anna and Appleton give him. Jason Merrill, the Duke of Watkins. That is who he woke up believing he was. Not that he enjoyed any of his past indulgences such as drinking, gambling and women. He even has a great fear of the horse he once enjoyed riding. No, now he is softer and only enjoys being with his beautiful wife, Anna. But is he really who he believes he is? Or is he someone completely different who’s been tricked and if so, why? Ruth's jump from the wild west to historical England has been quite a success. Her first book is The Earl’s Inconvenient Wife and she brings a few characters from that book into this one in passing but this story is mostly about Anna, ‘Jason’ and his brother, Mason. Once again we see how keeping the truth from someone you love always comes back to bite you in the arse! **Sexual situations within marriage

Well-written, entertaining plot, with a twist. Clever idea for a story.

I really enjoyed this book—particularly the unique plot. It could have done a little more character exploration, so parts felt a bit rushed. Looking forward to checking out more books by this author!

VERY UNIQUE STORYLINE!!! LOVED IT!! I will not go into the premise of the story, as it has been written, BUT, my oh my, there is so much going on in this book, that you will be so entertained. I loved our H/h so much and the Butler was wonderful. There is lovemaking (within marriage), that is passionate, just descriptive enough to warm you up. I did figure out one part of the story, and do wonder why our h and Butler didn't, but that was the only problem I had. What our h suffered at the beginning of the book, tore at my heart. This is a very sweet romance, that you take you on a wonderful journey through the Regency period. (ljb)

OK, it takes a lot to accept the premise of having your wicked husband die and, just after you secretly bury him, you happening to find his gravely identical twin who has amnesia. But, once you go with it, it is a fun read. Just enjoy it.

Lots of twists and turns in this adventure. Plenty of action and a few bag guys. A bit of a darker element running though the story but countered with true love, joy and happiness.  Adult read
