Repeticiones de aniversarios, nacimientos que coinciden con fechas de acontecimientos determinantes para una familia determinada, accidentes similares que ocurren a lo largo de varias generaciones... e, incluso, enfermedades que revelan lo que una madre o un abuelo han vivido: la historia familiar suele mostrar repeticiones. Recuerdos que no nos pertenecen se vuelven presentes y activos en nuestra vida hasta el punto de que algunas personas piensan que se enfrentan a un destino. ¿Cómo todo ello es posible? La herencia de una memoria familiar tiene su origen en la intensidad de las emociones vividas por nuestros antepasados durante un acontecimiento traumático. Estas emociones se memorizan, se almacenan, antes de ser transmitidas de manera invisible pero muy efectiva. Recientes descubrimientos científicos (transmisión epigenética, efectos de un trauma, neuronas espejo u ondas cerebrales) describen procesos fisiológicos que nos permiten comprender cómo la historia de un ancestro puede alcanzarnos y marcarnos con su huella antes incluso de que se produzca nuestra concepción.
