I loved this book!  I finished reading it today, but still wanted to read more!  Harris made the characters feel like friends and I wasn’t ready to say goodbye.  I have not read Dangerous Passage or Fatal Exchange, the first two books in this series, but did not feel like I had to in order to enjoy this story.  After reading Hidden Agenda I can tell you that I would love to read the other two.  Harris is an amazing author.  She had me on the edge of my seat, and ignoring my kids because I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next.   Olivia and her brother Ivan were waiting to see their mostly absent father Antonio Valez, when Ivan witnessed something horrible.  Sneaking away to find his sister they realize there is more going on than either of them knew.  Olivia has some questions she wants answered, but they will have to wait.  Ivan can’t just leave knowing someone is in danger.  Michael Hunt is praying for a way out, and doesn’t expect that way to be Olivia and her brother.  What will happen next?  Is anyone safe?   I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Romantic Suspense.  You can bet I will be reading more by Lisa Harris!  I received a copy of this book from Revell in exchange for my honest opinion.  All opinions expressed are my own.

This is a Christian Romantic Suspense that will keep you turning the pages and staying up late. Although this is part of a series you can read it as a stand-alone. The plot is tightly woven with suspense, plot twists and turns, romance and faith brought in so naturally. I read my first book by Lisa Harris last year and I've been buying her books ever since. She made my list of favorite authors only part way through my first book by her. Be prepared to look at the clues like a puzzle. There is adventure, excitement, intrigue, mystery, romance and characters that will make you want to laugh and cry. Be prepared for your emotions to be touched. Michael Hunt works undercover. His cover is blown and all of his family and friends think that he is dead. Now he is being hunted by the police and the cartel. Between the contract on him, his fellow officers thinking that he is a bad cop he has only one person to go to. Not only is she the daughter of the man who has imprisoned him, she helps him escape torture and death. Now Olivia and her brother Michael have endangered their lives. Their father would think nothing of killing them for helping his enemy escape. The action doesn't stop, about the time you think you know what is happening something changes. Can't tell you anymore without giving away the book. Just go out, buy this book or order it online. You will be glad you did. No one asked me to review this book. I have given my opinions and all of the review and mistakes are my own. Loved, loved this book. Definitely a KEEPER.

This is the third book in the Southern Crimes Series. Even though you could read this one alone and follow along well, I would recommend reading the first two first. This series focus on one family, therefore the history and background of this family is important in understanding all that is happening. Plus the first two books, Dangerous Passage, and Fatal Exchange are good reads too. Michael Hunt is an undercover cop that has been presumed dead for months. When the tables turn and his identity is revealed the stakes escalate. Will he be able to make it out alive or will his family never realize that he is actually alive? Will his undercover work really make a difference and bring down the cartel or is it all in vane?  Olivia Hamilton is a journalest in search of the truth about her father. Yet she is not certain that she is ready to hear it. When difficult circumstances must have her choose between right and wrong will she put her life on the line to do the right thing? This is a fast paced, surprising novel. There are many twist and turns throughout this book. If you enjoy reading contemporary, Christian, cop type romances you will enjoy this novel. I love the Hunt family bond and their relationships throughout this book. I was given a copy of this book from net galley for my honest opinion.

Lisa has done it again! The writer drew me in after the first page and continued to weave a tale that was fast paced , action packed and with surprising twists. I was reading book number 2 in series and paused to purchase this one. I knew I would have to know what happen to Michael! Lisa stories flow and she does not write awkward dialog. Nor is there redundancy every few chapters about why the characters feel doubt or fear or lack of faith. There is faith, many good bible verses that complete this writers effort to get her message to me. I loved the series and look forward to more books by this author!

A Thrilling, Chilling, Maze of a Read... A very satisfying romantic suspense by Lisa Harris, Hidden Agenda zigged and zagged as Olivia, Ivan, and Michael rush headlong to escape the cartel. Indeed, it is hard to run in a straight line when the enemy can be anyone around you. Harris does a wonderful job of setting up a dangerous situation and then throwing the reader into doubt about just who the enemy is. I kept guessing and re-guessing! This book is also about learning to trust when the going gets tough. NOT only does Olivia have to decide to trust Michael or not, but she must choose whether she can trust God, as well."Michael," says Olivia, "What do you do when something horrible happens, when fear takes hold so hard you can hardly breathe?" "All I know to do is to dig deeper until you remember that God knows exactly what's happening at this very moment. He cares, and no matter what happens, He will never leave you..." Trust. Will we trust or will we freeze when the hard times come? That said, in a sinful world, trusting God does not guarantee safety. Who makes it out of this terror alive, and who becomes collateral damage? A thriilling, chilling read!! I gratefully received this book from the author for an honest review.

I’ve enjoyed the entire Southern Crimes series by Lisa Harris and I’m sad to see it come to a close with Michael and Olivia’s story in Hidden Agenda. This story was my favorite. While you don’t have to start at book one to follow along, it will help to get to know the Hunt siblings and their loves.

Wonderful conclusion to a marvelous series! Gosh, could the conclusion to this exciting series get any more intense?! I have been highly anticipating Hidden Agenda for several months now after devouring the first two books in the Southern Crimes series. I quickly became hooked on Lisa Harris's riveting style of suspense, and Hidden Agenda delivered more spine-tingling adventure and romance. One of the most fascinating aspects of the story is Michael's struggles with years of living as an undercover agent, truth and lies begin to blur. In the movies and books undercover work is glamorized and we never get any idea of the toll it would really take on the operative. I had never really thought about it until I read Hidden Agenda and I give Lisa Harris two thumbs up for telling it a little differently and more realistically. Hidden Agenda is a suspenseful tale of love, sacrifice, forgiveness, and courage. An all around great suspense story with likable main characters, wicked villains, and some surprising twists and turns along the way. Lisa Harris is a talented, thought provoking, author, and I'm looking forward to reading future books from her. (I received a copy of this book from Revell Reads in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.)

Nutshell: Undercover cop, Michael Hunt is alive!! In book 3 of the Southern Crime Series, follow Michael as he narrowly escapes death by the least expected rescuer. Through twists and turns, the final book in the series wraps up the story of the Hunt family. Bombs, guns, fires and car chases are just a few of the encounters Michael and his rescuers face in the race for truth and justice. Pro's: A fast read! Not because it's easy, but because you want to know what happens next! A thrilling mysterious suspense that keeps you turning the pages. Con's: I was a little disappointed at the ending as it seemed anti-climatic compared to the rest of the book.  Recommendation: If you didn't read the first two books, no need to worry! You can easily pick up this book and read it without knowing any back story. If you like thrilling suspense, this is the book, and series for you! Revell Books sent me a complimentary copy to review for them. Opinions expressed are my own.

Liked all the characters a lot.  Was surprised at some of the characters and how they ended up.  Look forward to reading many more books by Lisa Harris.  These are so easy to follow and can be a bit suspenseful.  These types of stories just need to keep coming.  I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion.

I really enjoy a great crime drama. There's just something about all the action packed scenes and the who, what, where, and why of solving the crime that fascinates me. What's better than a single drama? How about a series. Lisa Harris' Southern Crimes series has been an absolute hit in my books. It began with Dangerous Passage and then continued with Fatal Exchange and now it comes to a conclusion with Hidden Agenda. This third book picks the story up about a week after the second book left off. It has been eight months since the Hunt family was told that their son and brother was killed in an explosion. But from the opening lines we learn that Michael is alive and well. Or maybe I should just say that he is alive. All this time he has been working on a secret undercover operation and he suddenly finds his cover blown and his life is within hours of being snuffed out. His rescue comes from an unlikely source. The relief of being rescued is short lived because now they are all being hunted. It seems as if no matter where they try to hide the enemy finds them. How in the world are they being tracked? The answers are surprising and lead to more questions than answers.  I enjoyed the first two books in this series but I particularly liked this third book. With it I think Lisa hit her stride in overall writing ability and character development. Some of the twists I just didn't see coming. This is a great ending to a really good series.  I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

Hidden Agenda is a fast paced and action packed novel by Lisa Harris. I really enjoyed this third installment of the Southern Crimes series. I do believe that it can be read as a stand alone.  The story kept me intrigued throughout and I couldn't help but to continue to turn the pages. I kept guessing as to what was going to happen next up until the end.  Great suspense filled book! 5 stars.

I was so excited when the opportunity came through NetGalley to read Lisa Harris’s latest book Hidden Agenda. I had read the previous two books in this series and was very anxious to see how the story of the Hunt family came to an end. I was not disappointed. In addition to being a good mystery, this story had some real spiritual depth to it. Part of the previous two books describes how the different members of the Hunt family are dealing with the death of their son/brother, Michael. The second book ends with a hint that he is not dead. Hidden Agenda opens with the revelation that he is not dead, but may soon be if something does not happen to change his circumstances. He has been undercover in a crime family, trying to bring down not just the lower bosses, but the head boss. In the first chapter, Michael’s only contact, an agent with the FBI, is murdered and Michael is to be next. The FBI agent had the evidence that Michael had been gathering which would bring down the crime bosses and exonerate Michael from any wrong doing. Ivan, the deaf son of Antonio Valez, crime boss, witnesses the murder and convinces his sister, Olivia, to help free Michael. This puts all three of them on the run from the murders and perhaps some dirty cops. Will Michael’s family of lawmen/women be able to come to their aid in time? How will Olivia and Ivan reconcile what they begin to learn about their father with the life they are leading? This was a face paced book, with some great characters. I am sad to see the series end.

Lisa Harris in her new book “Hidden Agenda” Book Three in the Southern Crimes series published by Revell Books takes us into the lives of Michael Hunt and Olivia Hamilton. From the back cover: His cover is blown. Now his enemies are on his heels and closing in. Michael Hunt is alive–and on the run. Presumed dead by friends and family, the undercover assignment he’s been working for the past eight months has just been blown. With a hit out on his life and corruption inside the Atlanta police department, Michael finds himself hunted by both the cartel and the law. His only hope is Olivia Hamilton–the daughter of the man who wants him dead. This nonstop chase from Christy Award-winning Lisa Harris will leave you breathless. This is the third book in the Southern Crimes series and I think it is Ms. Harris’ best. At the end of the last book Michael was dead now he is not. No, he is not a zombie, he was only reported as dead. However it would have been better for him to have stayed dead because now everyone is gunning for him especially Olivia’s father who is the head bad guy. Murder, hit and runs, corrupt officials, greed, kidnapping, drugs and drug lords are just some of the ingredients in this high-octane adventure. With “Hidden Agenda” Ms. Harris has given us a thriller that becomes more and more exciting and nerve wracking until you flip the last page and let out a contented sigh of relief. This is a fun read, it is a fast read, however I do not recommend starting this book late at night because it will cost you sleep as you will not want to put it down. Ms. Harris is an excellent writer and knows how to twist your nerve endings as she tightens the suspense. Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Revell Publishers. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. What a conclusion. I've mentioned before that I'm not super into suspense/mystery type books...usually. But this series has me hooked, and I'm sad that it's over. This series plot-driven, while still focusing on characters, and Harris pulls it off well, without overwhelming the reader. Since I guess that synopsis itself spoils the first two books (or at least, Michael's part in the books) I'm not sure what I can or can't say that would be considered a spoiler. Since they already told you he's alive. He's been working undercover for the leader of a drug cartel that he's been trying to bring down. But he's been found out, and he can't go back home either since the police force thinks that he's a traitor. The only thing left to do is prove his innocence and bring down the cartel. And who arrives as his help? None other than the kids of the man he's trying to bring down.  Being "dead" for so long, Michael feels like he doesn't know who he is anymore. I think we've all gone through those moments, and it was portrayed honestly and realistically. Olivia is going through the same thing as well, as everything she has ever known about her father turns out to be a lie. Both of them are dealing with these huge issues, but they still put themselves aside for others. Making sure that others, like Olivia's brother, are safe, and that no one else gets hurt because of the bad men that are after them.  Drug lords, cartels, running for your life...these are all big issues. But Harris handles them in a way that doesn't make it seem overwhelming. Yes these are serious issues, but we get to see the characters banter with each other and care about each other. Yes, this book is filled with suspense and intrigue, but not so much that it's too much action and not enough character. Harris achieves the balance. I also loved our secondary characters, like Ivan, and of course our favorites from the first books, like Emily, Mason, Avery, Jackson. And while this was a "Christian" book, it wasn't preachy or overbearing. It didn't take away from the story. Both the characters are Christian, and it was just something that naturally shone through. And this was a perfect conclusion, as it ended well for both the story and the characters. I would definitely recommend this whole series.

This book by Christy Award-winning Lisa Harris (author of more than 20 novels) is the third in the “Southern Crimes” series. Each book in the series follows one of the three Hunt family siblings. This book follows Michael who has been undercover for eight months when his cover is blown. He is rescued by Olivia Hamilton and her brother, Ivan, and all three of them trying to escape the bad guys chasing them. But who ARE the bad guys and who can they trust? And this is where the nail-biting adventure begins. Even though I haven’t read the first two books in the series yet (but I will soon!), I think this book can stand alone without missing a beat. It was a hard book for me to put down. There were a couple of twists that surprised me, and I couldn’t wait to see how the author was going to get them out of the mess they were in. I thought the characters were believable and likeable. But best of all (for me) was how the love of family and faith in God was at the center of the book. If you love Christian fiction with contemporary suspense and a little romance, then you’ll enjoy this book. I received a free book from Revell Publishing (a division of Baker Publishing Group) in exchange for an unbiased review.

If you have never read a book by Lisa Harris you are missing out. Her most recent release, Hidden Agenda, is the third book in her Southern Crimes series. I haven't had the opportunity to read the first book in the series, Dangerous Passage, but I guarantee you I will be reading it very soon. The second book in the series, Fatal Exchange, was released in the middle of last year and was an excellent read. Read my review here. The series follows the lives of three siblings in the Hunt family. Hidden Agenda, is the story of Michael Hunt, an undercover cop who is deep undercover with a drug cartel and his family believes him to be dead. When the story begins Michael's cover has been blown and he is rescued by Ivan and Olivia Hamilton, who just happen to be the children of Antonio Valez, the head of the cartel. One thing I really like about Lisa Harris's books is her character development. Each character is well defined and has the ability to draw the reader into their story quickly. To be honest, when I read book two in the series, the first chapter of Hidden Agenda was included in the back of the book. Michael Hunt pulled me into his story in chapter one and I have been patiently waiting for Hidden Agenda to release. Without telling too much of the story, Michael Hunt, Olivia Hamilton and her deaf brother Ivan are running. Running from the cartel and the cops. The journey will keep the reader on the edge of their seats throughout the story. But believe me, it is a journey well worth taking. Lisa Harris has created a story that could be taken right out of today's headlines and has taken the reader right along with her. With strong believable characters and a story full of plot twists and turns the reader is guaranteed an awesome read. I would highly recommend Hidden Agenda to anyone who enjoys reading a good suspense novel. On a 5-Star scale = 5 Stars!!!!! I would like to thank Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group for my copy of Hidden Agenda. I receive my copy for free in order to read it and give my honest review which I have done.

Hidden Agenda by Lisa Harris is the third novel in her Southern Crimes series and continues the story of the Hunt family. This is Michael’s story, the brother they thought that they had buried. Now that his cover is blown he is not sure how he will escape alive. While he is beaten and waiting for the cartel to finish him off, he is rescued by an unlikely duo: the top boss of the drug cartels grown children. Now running for their lives, secrets are going to come to light and in whom they should put their trust is anybody’s guess. This was a fast paced action packed joy of a ride. Putting me in mind of some of my favorite cop shows, Lisa Harris delivers a story that wraps up a trilogy and all the question marks of the previous books. I really enjoyed the theme of second chances. One of my favorite quotes was stated by Michael himself when he said he felt like Lazarus back from the dead and the prodigal son rolled up in one. Not only is this story action packed but we are also witness to the love story that develops between Michael and Olivia (the daughter of the drug lord). Theirs is a rocky road of constant hiding and danger around every corner. I really enjoyed this series and I am pleased with the resolutions. I want to thank Revell for my review copy. The opinions are my own.

Michael Hunt is an undercover cop about to get the evidence he needs to expose the leader of the Cártel de Rey, but his cover has been blown and now he sits captured and bound by the cartel with the possibility of his imminent death.  Ironically, his family and friends already think he is died eight months ago.  Just when he thinks he is doomed, a reporter and her deaf brother come to his rescue.  And this is when the story begins.  Since Michael’s presumed death, there was an investigation that revealed he might have sold himself out to the cartel.  Once the local police force receives evidence that Michael is still alive, they join the cartel thugs in pursuing Michael and his two rescuers. Now the three of them are on the run from both the authorities and the cartel, with no certainty about whom they can trust.  This is a modern day suspense story with an emphasis on suspense. But even in the less action packed scenes, there was enough going on that I was anxious to continue reading to uncover the mystery of all the lies and deception. One of the themes of the book is about doing the right thing even if it causes negative consequences and hardships.  I liked the characters with their variety of personalities showing bravery, courage, pursuing truth and loyalty to family.  I also appreciated that they weren’t always in control but showed fear and vulnerability.  Another theme of the book was trusting God in the difficult times.  This book is third in the Southern Crime series but it is the first that I read and did not feel it impeded my enjoyment of the book.  There were hints that the previous two books, in the series, were about Michael’s other family members, which appear in this book.  Reading the series in order would be beneficial in understanding the characters and some references to their situations but not necessary.  I would highly recommend this book for anyone desiring a fast paced suspense novel.   I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell in exchange for an honest review.

Holy Smokes!! The pages were turning so quickly I'm surprised the book didn't go up in flames!! Hidden Agenda by Lisa Harris is full of suspense, mystery, and will grab a hold of you from the very first page and will NOT let go until you turn that final page!  I love the chemistry between Michael and Olivia and it just makes it that much more interesting that they are the very "couple" that shouldn't be together at all! I mean really, this is one serious cartel that Olivia's Dad heads up!  Michael has been working so hard and sacrificing everything he has to bring it down, yet he seems to be falling for her and there is nothing he can do about it! With every turn of the page it seems there is yet another twist and turn for Michael in this ever continuing case. Just when he thinks he is closer to ending this, something else happens that leads him down a whole other path. Will he ever get all he needs to shut this cartel down??  Will he be able to be with Olivia? Most importantly, will he be able to be reunited with his family?  All of these and any other questions you might have, can be answered when you read Hidden Agenda!! If you like suspense filled, action packed mysteries, then this book is HANDS DOWN a MUST READ!!!

Fast paced suspense! Michael Hunt was presumed dead after a bomb exploded and there were no identifiable remains aside from his DNA. For eight months his family has mourned him, while he is secretly working an undercover assignment with the cartel. Rescued from the cartel his life is on the line. Both the cartel and the Atlanta police department are hunting him down. Betrayed by corruption in the police department and the drug lord who wants him dead, Michael is on the run. Olivia Hamilton and her brother attempt to help, only involving themselves in the deadly chase. A fast-paced suspense kept me turning the pages of this very messy scenario. Characters run the gamut throughout this deadly pursuit for one man's life, involving a young woman and her deaf brother who are in as deep as the main character. No matter where they turn danger lurks around every corner, and there is no end to the number of hitmen seeking to kill them. As romance develops it also complicates matters. The main character is in over his head. The author has done her homework well. Police procedurals are well researched and utilized throughout this book, and the evils of the drug cartel are well represented. There is a lot to absorb throughout this thriller. If you don't mind sitting on the edge of your seat you'll love "Hidden Agenda!" Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from Revell in exchange for my honest review. Michael Hunt's time is up. After working undercover, attempting to bring down a drug cartel, his cover is blown. With less than twelve hours to live, he is rescued by Olivia Hamilton, the beautiful daughter of the man who wants him dead. As they run for their lives, no one and no place is safe. Michael and Olivia are forced to trust and depend on each other, but soon find attraction bringing them closer. Their only chance for survival is bringing down the cartel by finding it's leader and the dirty agents that aid the cartel. Will they find the proof they need in time? Can Olivia hand her family over to the authorities? Read more in Hidden Agenda by Lisa Harris. Hidden Agenda is the third novel in the Southern Crimes series by Lisa Harris. It was the first book I've read by Lisa Harris and worked fine as a stand-alone novel. The opening scene was riveting and the suspense kept me interested from that point on. The plot was well-written and there were twists that kept me wondering about identities and how situations would work out. I could relate to the theme about finding freedom by learning the truth. Reminded me that true freedom and healing can only come when secrets are exposed and dealt with. In conclusion, I enjoyed reading Hidden Agenda by Lisa Harris. It's a keeper and I recommend it to fans of contemporary suspense novels. Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher. Hidden Agenda is the third book in the Southern Crimes series, but is easily read as a stand alone novel. I have only read books two and three in the series and had no trouble following along in either story. I was intrigued to find out that Michael Hunt, who was presumed dead in the previous book, is alive and well. His story is a very exciting one. I really liked the main characters in Hidden Agenda. Michael has been living as an undercover cop for a very long time, and has been presumed dead for eight months. The guilt he carries knowing that his entire family has been mourning for him is only slightly lessened by the hope that what he uncovers will bring down the leaders of a drug cartel. Olivia and Ivan are a brother and sister team who end up doing the right thing and save Michael’s life when it is threatened. These two individuals are so refreshing. They know what they need to do and then do it, but they still continually question throughout the book the “why’s” of what has happened. It’s one thing to be brave and do the right thing, it’s another to be fighting for your life as a result of your decisions. I enjoyed seeing the couples from the previous books and catching up with their lives. And I loved Michael and Olivia’s developing relationship. It seemed very realistic to me. Yes, it did come about quickly, but due to the harrowing circumstances, I felt that it made a lot of sense. This is a very action-packed story, which I enjoyed from start to finish. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Baker Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review.

Since retiring I have had the pleasure of adding several new authors to my favorites list.  The most recent being Lisa Harris.   While I enjoy a wide variety of genres, mysteries will always compose the greatest number of entries in my reading log.  Harris proves herself to be a masterful writer in this genre.      Hidden Agenda is fast paced and action packed, with well written dialogue.  Harris has added a touch of romance that serves the plot well without taking over.  While the book reads like a movie script, the events seem plausible and the worlds of undercover police work and drug cartels well researched.      While reading this, the third book of the Southern Crime series, the reader is aware that the previous books most likely focused on protagonist Michael Hunt's siblings, but the book works well as a stand alone read. While facts are revealed about the outcome of the first two mysteries, enough is left unsaid to pique rather than squelch the reader's interest in reading those books as well.       A major theme of Hidden Agenda is doing the right thing even when it is not convenient or even safe to do so.  A second, and no less important theme, deals with faith in the sovereignty of God and the freedom that comes from the truth He reveals.  Michael Hunt is forced by circumstances to look at God in a different light, to trust in God's goodness and truth even when answers to his questions were not forthcoming.  The reader is encouraged to trust in God to walk with him or her and to trust in the profound truth that God is good, even in the midst of trials.        I highly recommend Hidden Agenda to both fans of mystery and romance novels.  While the author probably wrote the book with women readers in mind, I believe men would enjoy it as well.  I've suggested my husband add it to his to be read pile.  I thank Revell Publishers and Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for providing Hidden Agenda for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

An adrenaline rush packed suspense novel! I loved visiting the Hunt family once again. It was great to read the story of Michael Hunt, middle child and only son. This close knit family is wonderful and a joy to get to know. I love these characters as well as the new ones that are introduced in this book. Lisa Harris has an incredible talent for developing deep characters and presenting them. The plot was intense and had plenty of surprising twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. I thoroughly enjoyed this third book in the Southern Crimes series. I suspect that it is going to be the last one and it felt like a good wrap up to me. I would definitely suggest that you read this series in order since each book is the story of one of three siblings and they follow the family throughout. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.
