His Last Resort: A Contemporary Christian Romance by M. A. Malcolm

*** From award-winning author M. A. Malcolm comes the long-awaited prequel to "His Last Hope," the Christian Small Publisher 2016 Romance Book of the Year! ***

Driven and focused, business owner and future pastor Robert Marsden knows exactly what he wants... and what he doesn't. The Do Not Disturb sign he's placed on his heart is his way of discouraging the 'wanna-be first ladies' who've set their sights on him. The way he sees it, Claire Foxwood and women like her are more focused on impressing others than on their eternal souls. As a man of God, it's his duty to set them straight, right?

Claire can't help her attraction to Robert, but his decision to make a public spectacle of her hurts to the core. Part of her wants to give him a piece of her mind, but the rest of her remains infatuated with the man who's too attractive for his - and her - own good. If only she didn't feel like he has a role to play in her destiny!

Can "Aunt Ruby" Crawford's words of godly wisdom peppered with humor help the misguided pair look deep within themselves and discover God's plan for their lives?

Find out what happens when the minister-in-training meets the type of woman who's His Last Resort!

I really enjoyed this book. It was fun to read and it truly blessed me.

I loved how this book focused on developing inner beauty and using God's gifts while weaving the romance into that story. The main female character, Claire, starts out using make up to give herself a confidence boost. Through a series of events, she comes to learn that she needs to see herself as a fearfully and wonderfully made creation of God who uses make up to highlight herself. She also uses her make up artistry to connect with others who might otherwise not hear God's message. I also liked that a love of reading and books interconnected the characters. I was a bit disappointed at the end that Robert and Claire are leaving the area where they met--and there's no explanation of what will happen to each of their respective businesses when they do. Businesses that were integral to this story.
