About the Author

Originally Shelly was a hippie out to save the world with LOVE. But it didn't take long to understand that her best thoughts had little effect on the ways of the world. No matter how many daisies she stuck in the barrel of a cop's gun, it didn't do diddly for making the world a safer place.

Because of her innate sense of fairness, her degree in Human Services was a natural. She is a published researcher in peer reviewed journals and has recently published research on associations and how boards abuse members. Shelly is a writer of self-help books in the field of addiction and verbal abuse; she works with alcoholics and their families around the world; she is a guest speaker and trainer for counselors. Her work as a Homeowner Advocate for HOA law came from personal experience. Learn what the homeowners in her association learned—her experience will benefit the person just beginning the battle in HOA hell.

Her association, which was a David and Goliath type of battle, was eventually won. Shelly and 225 of her closet neighbors won the battle. She is now considered an advocate for homeowners rights and is working to help abolish as many associations as possible.
