Honor takes a huge chance and flees her compound one wintry night. A genetically altered woman, she has no memories from before her kin staged a rebellion seven years before. Because of her enhanced physiology, she finds a home working for the CIA alongside four other women just like her. There are still plenty of rules, but they're different, and she's figuring out how to blend in.

Milton Reins burns through women and marriages. After the third one implodes, he swears off hunting for a replacement. Running the CIA is a more than fulltime job. There's no time for anything else in his life, which is fine until Honor comes along. Training in the gym throws their bodies together, and makes him remember the feel of a woman in his arms. Milton aches for her, but she's a freak, the CIA term for test tube humans designed by scientists.

Honor wants Milton with every bone in her body, but it's a terrible idea, especially after she delves into his head and sees his ambivalence toward her kind. Need drives them together, but their differences create roadblocks every step of the way. Fueled by anger and fear, she shuts him out. So what if the sex was great, she's done.

Or is she?

Honor Bound is the second book in Ann Gimpel's GenTech Rebellion Series. Sci-Fi meets suspense meets romance! Honor is a genetically altered female stuck living in a compound controlled completely by genetically enhanced males. What the females don't know is that the males keep the leash so tight because the women actually have the potential to become more powerful than the men and could overthrow the balance not only in the compound but in the world. Honor finally gets her chance at freedom when she and a handful of others escape thanks to their friend Glory, Roy and his black ops CIA team. Now the women are able to train together to start unlocking some of their potential. Meanwhile, Honor wants to unlock the potential within Milton, head of the CIA. Attraction ignites but confusion, hurt and misunderstandings get in the way. All in all, it's an excellent second book that has left me wanting to read more.

The adaption continues Let me start with a general information: The first book of this series: Winning Glory, had been my first book from Ann Gimpel. Usually, that is not my preferred genre, but sometimes you try new things out. When I finished that book, I was hooked and started to read more of Anns books. She has such a broad variety. Don’t ask me why I did not continue with that series, I always wanted to, but there were so many other books of her. In this book the story continues where the first one left. Honor is a so called freak, a genetically altered woman, an improved human so to say, more machine than human actually. Or so most think. She flees her “prison” as soon as she has the chance to, but all of her friends, also freak-woman are in the same situation, they want to be free from their “handlers”, but don’t fit in the human system either. Feared in both worlds, they are daily confronted with suspicion and distrust. Glory found happiness and that gave them some hope. Honor is attracted to Milton, the CIA leader, but he has some heavy prejudices as well. Married to his job and the CIA, he has no intention of getting involved with any woman, human or freak. But while he trains with them, he feels a pull towards Honor. Now add some meddling friends from both sides, new threats and an amazing showdown and tada you have this book. I love how Ann writes. The characters are well developed, the story is captivating, it just fits. After finishing that book in a couple of hours, I had to start the next one. Even when this is not your usual genre, you should give it a try and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

This story is about Honor, a genetically engineered female. She was saved from a compound of others like her in book 1, Winning Glory. Honor joins the CIA on a special force where she meets Milton, the head of the CIA. They have a mutual attraction to each other, but have a hard time trusting others. Follow Honor and Milton as they learn about themselves & each other. A great read with action, some sex & a HEA.

I love the details in this world of man-made science gone crazy. As we know from book 1, CIA Black Ops is involved in finding and killing the "freaks" that turned on their makers, killing and destroying the labs where they were created. The CIA is trying to locate as many of these "freaks" and destroy their compounds as fast as they can find them and now they have the help of the women that they previously rescued. The women, glad to be free are now working and training side by side as well as teaching the CIA operatives how to use the enhanced powers given to them in order for them to have a fighting chance against the "freaks". This includes, Milton the CIA leader who trains with them as well. Both he and one of the women, Honor, are surprised by their attraction to each other and fight it due to their "differences". Because of the women's willingness to work with them, Milton hopes some of the males will not have to be killed but will want amnesty in exchange for helping them. I've already given away more than I like, just let me say that they learn so much more about these "freaks" and more than once go against terrible odds to stop them before they bring mankind down. Both the operatives and the women learn how much more powerful they are, especially when they work together. It sounds like I've left spoilers, but believe me there's a lot of suspense, thrills and danger happening while learning how to find trust and love between man and freak. I've only given you an outline of the exciting action in this story and if your a lover of sci-fi romance thrillers you need to get this book. Once I started reading I didn't put it down till I finished it; exactly how I read the first book and when I finish this review I'll be reaching for the 3rd. Come, fall into this world where science has once again forgotten it's humanity and join those that are trying to save it.

Trust Doesn't Come Easily. This is the second book in the GenTech Rebellion series. I enjoyed the first book. The book can be read as a standalone. The book does not end in a cliffhanger but is open ended for future books in the series. There is violence and sex in the book so definitely 18+? The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat all of that info here. The author did a great job of summarizing the storyline of Winning Glory so new readers understand what's going on. In Honor Bound the women train to go out with the CIA team to try to free more of the women from other compounds. They aren't able to free more women, but two of the Nameless Ones (males who held the women captive) ask for amnesty and join the team. Honor and Milton are attracted to each other, but will they act on it? Or will his job and position with the CIA keep them apart? And Honor and the other women have spent so much time hating the Nameless Ones who kept them captive, will they be able to work with Frank and Tony? Can the various groups trust each other enough to work together? The storyline will keep you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed next. It definitely kept me riveted and reading. I loved the first two books and can't wait to read the next book in the series Claiming Charity! I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
