As a cold case heats up, two former adversaries discover there is a thin line between love and hate.

Seven years ago, Dr. Elle Middleton's world crashed and burned. She has rebuilt her life and found comfort in her work as the medical examiner for TFH. When a new case leads to a cold case, she is beyond excited for the challenge, until she finds out the one man she wants to avoid is her partner on the case.

Graeme McGregor isn't any happier with the assignment. The doctor gets under his skin in more ways than one. He's avoided her and his attraction by keeping his distance from her, but working with her has made it impossible to resist taking a little taste.

One kiss leads to another...then to a full blown affair. But even as they draw closer to each other, secrets from that long ago murder rise to the surface. The killer's determination to stay free leads to a dangerous confrontation that puts both of their lives in peril and could leave TFH in shambles.

5.0 Star Review Hostile Desires (Task Force Hawaii #2) by Melissa Schroeder The Task Force Hawaii team works on a variety of cases in conjunction with local, state and federal agencies. Over the last 12 months I have found myself gravitating to the romantic suspense genre and in my humble opinion Melissa Schroeder is one of the best I have read. She brings the stories to life so well and her writing is of an extremely high standard. I thoroughly enjoyed Elle and Graeme’s story. In the first book in the series, Seductive Reasoning, they were often found to be sniping at each other. Now they need to work together to solve a cold case and ensure that a killer is brought to justice. Working together brings feelings to the service that neither of them wants to admit too or even act on. It’s a fine line between love and hate. There are so many twists and turns to this book that I was riveted and stayed up late in the night. I couldn’t put it down. This book is exactly what I have come to expect from Melissa Schroeder, well written and thoroughly enjoyable. I anxiously await the next book in the Task Force Hawaii series. If you are looking for a book that is hot, spicy, romantic and suspenseful, then look no further. Congratulations Ms. Schroeder, you have another winner on your hands.

This may be Melissa Schroeder ‘s best book yet! Elle and Graeme will burrow into your heart and take up residence. We met Elle & Graeme in Seductive Reasoning (Task Force Hawaii, #1) and they were oil and water. They couldn’t be in the same room without snarling at one another but now they need to work together to close a confusing cold case. Graeme discovers that Elle is not the cold fish she pretends to be and had her reasons for keeping him at arm’s length. Now knowing he is determined to defeat each reason. Elle is surprised with herself when she finds herself rooting for him to succeed. The case heats up and so do they. Hostile Desires is romantic suspense at its finest.

Truly enjoyed this book! There is some mystery, a bit of suspense and an amazing attraction. The characters are unique and have strong connections. Love how understanding and caring Graeme is with Elle throughout the story line. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, al opinions expressed are my own.

There was something about the sparks between Graeme and Elle you just knew they were going to ignite into flames of passion. Graeme is from Scotland originally and after serving in the Royal Marines he is now living in Hawaii and working with the TFH. Elle is from England and is the ME for the TFH and these two have rubbed each other the wrong way since the beginning. Now they are working on a case together and getting closer. This is a cold case and even though there is a mystery to be solved there is still a romance to brew. Oh, and don't forget Dumfries, Graeme's dog who seems to be more human than dog and just enchanting. I thoroughly this book and even though it is part of a series it can be read alone. **Received a copy of this ARC for review**

Hostile Desires is the second book in the Task Force Hawaii series and tells the story of two of the British members of the squad. The Coroner, Elle is a wary survivor of both rape and a ugly divorce. She has found peace by moving to Hawaii and working with a group of people that have made feel like family. Her frenemy on the force is Graeme, a Scottish investigator, who retired from special forces to work in Hawaii. They are in the same group of friends, but often bicker with each other. They are assigned to same case and their antagonistic relationship begins to evolve into more. Both Graeme and Elle find out that their chemistry is explosive, while they are on the track of a murder. I liked the characters, but found the resolution to some major issues like Elle's rape glossed over. This book had a lot of characters and subplot that were always easy to figure out. This book took on a lot, but was confusing at times. I would try another book in the series. I was given a free copy for an honest review.
