A set of 11-year-old identical twins arrive at their grandparents' house on Cape Cod to celebrate the 4th of July. One of the twins is deaf. They along with a friend paddle a canoe to an isolated area near where fireworks are distributed in preparation for the holiday celebration. During the actual show an errant rocket strikes one boy and while one twin tends to the injury the deaf boy goes for and gets help.
