About the Author

Mr. Richard Huffman was born in the 1960s, raised by two hardworking parents who owned a janitorial service, neither of which had a criminal record. Neither of his parents drank or used drugs and could easily be described as average citizens of their time. Huffmans father died when he was sixteen years old, and he began running his fathers janitorial service and extensively drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana, which led him to a sense of irresponsibility. He had approximately sixteen drivers license violations within the first twelve months. His mother recommended that he enter the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Huffman entered the United States Marine Corps, sustained various head injuries, and was honorably discharged. However, instead of being transferred to a veterans hospital for a treatment program, he was released back into society. Over the next twenty years, based on his head injury and a lack of medical treatment, his memory problems caused him to have contact with the criminal justice system and financial charges on multiple occasions and, while incarcerated, to be manipulated by his fellow inmates into other violations of the law. During his incarceration, out of a sense of decency, he cooperated with law enforcement and testified in multiple criminal and homicide offenses, which resulted in multiple convictions. His cooperation with law enforcement was both successful and unsuccessful, and he learned about the criminal justice system from these experiences. Finally, thanks to the United States Marine Corps and the veterans hospital, he was able to get a handle on his particular problems, turn his life around, and start a company, Huffmans Services, to offer relief for incarcerated citizens and their families, friends, supporters, and loved ones.
