Death was only the beginning . . .
No one's afterlife is as dispiriting as Audrey's-at least that's what she believes after waking up dead without her memories and being promptly assigned to hunt demons for the rest of eternity.
She's convinced there's been a cosmic mistake; after all, she'd rather discuss the color of her nails than break them on angelic weapons. It doesn't help that her trainer, Logan, is as infuriating as he is attractive.
When an ancient weapon of unparalleled power chooses Audrey as its wielder, attracting the cautious gazes of her fellow hunters and the attention of Satan himself, Logan is the only one she can trust. With Satan's eyes now fixed on Audrey, a battle for the safety of the living looms in the shadows.

About the Author
Before writing her first novel Julie worked as a film publicist and rubbed elbows with the rich and famous . . . as in she would gently nudge them to let them know their meal had arrived during press interviews.
She now spends most of her "office hours" with her two furry writing buddies. Her daughter thinks that mommy's superpower is "sleeping all day," but that's because she's often awake until the wee hours of the morning weaving tales of adventure in worlds of her own creation. When asked in an interview what she wanted to be when she grew up, she's quoted to have answered, "to never have to grow up."
She currently lives in Portland, Oregon with her four favorite people--her husband, daughter, and two doodles (because dogs are people too).

Huntress by Julie Hall This is one book you don't want to miss! In the Prologue, we learn a chained-up male has just discovered there is a girl who has an ancient weapon -- the cherabim sword. She could be the key to his freedom. The girl, Audrey, arrives in a strange new world. Her new acquaintance, Joe, calls it home. Her home. Joe also calls it the "ever after." Audrey realizes she has died. Joe takes her to a magnificent city, but he doesn't accompany her inside. Audrey is processed. They need to get her assignment figured out. But there seems to be a problem, and Audrey is passed along to Shannon. Shannon takes her to a crowded room filled with huge, well-muscled guys. Surely Audrey doesn't belong with these guys! Someone has made a terrible mistake. This thought is confirmed when Audrey is given a mentor, who will train her to be a demon hunter! This book is one you will not be able to put down. I felt Audrey's strong concern about her training as a hunter. Her struggles to keep up with Logan were proof that she wasn't hunter material. But mistakes weren't made here, or so she's told. All she can do is hang in there and do her best ... which is never good enough for her attractive mentor. It's up to him to whip her into shape, though, which is a huge responsibility. He can't give up on her. Julie Hall is adept at making you feel what you're supposed to feel about the characters. If Audrey liked someone, I felt myself liking them, too. If she didn't like someone, I could understand why! The author also created a vivid, enchanting world that captures your imagination and draws you in. I highly recommend this amazing novel. This book does not let you down.
Huntress is a young adult novel set in the afterlife. It was a captivating, interesting and adventurous novel. It had a lot of mystery that made me excited to know what happens next! Huntress tells the story of Audrey's afterlife and how she must learn to adjust to it. Audrey was an interesting character to read especially since she couldn't remember her life on earth. There were also some great characters in Huntress like Ramona, Logan and Kevin that I desperately wanted to know so much more about! I enjoyed reading Huntress and think that fans of the afterlife and fantasy would enjoy it too!
So I thought I knew what I was getting into when reading HUNTRESS, but I was quite wrong in my expectations. The author literally created a world like I have never read. I'm not quite sure how to put it into words because it was so utterly creative. I immensely enjoyed learning about the place Audrey lived in with the same awe and wonder as her. Logan was something else. I was able to interview him recently on my blog (HOPE through the Pages) and was SO intrigued about him afterwards, that I desperately wanted to read more. I was not disappointed! Him and Audrey have a very lively relationship that more than once caused me to laugh or giggle, but that ending broke a chunk of my heart. So thankful to know book two is releasing soon. My favorite chapter was "God." In no way does the author put the idea of God in a box. She brought Him to “life” in a beautiful way and was so strongly touched by this chapter and the truth He spoke of that I am unsure if I fully comprehended everything. One of the best parts of this book for sure! The only reason I am giving this book four stars is because I was unsure for much of the beginning if the concept of this story was Biblical or not. However, once I let that go and just enjoyed the story WITH powerful Biblical truths woven throughout, I immensely did (very happily if I might add). Overall, this was a very good read that had me entranced as I attempted to read it in a day. The wonder of Audrey's surroundings soaked into me and the truth of God's powerful love for His children, despite what our circumstances "seem" to tell us otherwise, did as well.
