A Love Poem to Every Special Child

Black and Brown girl dark of hue with kinky or curly hair

White child with straight hair and freckles too

God painted your skin and curled and straightened your hair just for you.

God is love and you are God's beloved.

Black, Brown, Yellow, Red, and White child created to look just like you,

God rejoices and is glad in you.

God is love and you are God's beloved.

Special child who sees and discerns without the eyes and ears and speech the rest of us need who navigates without the legs ordinary people require and manages without the hands on which other mortals depend.

God is love and you are God's beloved.

Weary child of the night and castaway of the streets afraid and abused in need of safe haven and home to rest and to nest.

God is love and you are God's beloved.

Child of slow mind, innocent of worldly wiles and the will to harm others, freed of devious thoughts.

God is love and you are God's beloved.

Child of poverty unburdened by the chains of things and greed which imprison the haves too muches.

God came in your disguise to save us all.

God is love and you are God's beloved.
