A fox? A Koala? Perhaps a bear cub. Every child dreams at one time or another of being an animal; an owl that can fly, a giraffe that can run, or a raccoon that can scurry away. Whatever they desire, they need to know that they will always be loved. Author/illustrator Nancy Tillman has crafted a beautiful new book that reassures youngsters that they will always be recognized by their loved ones and more importantly, always loved. This sweet book, told in a very lyrical prose, begins by telling the reader: There are things about you quite unlike any other.../ things always known by your father or mother./ So if you decide to be different one day,/ no worries...I’d know you anyway./ The tale then goes on to imagine all sorts of animals the child might want to be, and how the parent would recognize him/her. It also encourages participation by the youngster by asking them to show off their various talents such as flapping their wings or roaring: And if one fine day you got bored and you said,/ “Today I’m not me, I’m a lion instead”/ even if I’d never heard it before, I’d know/ it was you by the sound of your roar./ Would you mind roaring a second or two?/ See, without question, I’d know it was you./ The author has had several bestselling children’s books and it’s a sure thing that I’d Know You Anywhere, My Love, will follow suit. It’s a lovely story, with striking artwork, and an important message that every child is unique and will always be loved. This book is a winner and one you will be asked to read over and over to that special child in your life. Quill says: A beautiful book, with soft, gentle prose and gorgeous illustrations that make this a perfect bedtime or anytime story.

The first Nancy Tillman book I purchased for my son was Wherever You Are My Love Will Find You and he loved it. So I purchased this book hoping it would be just as good. It was even better! The pictures of the animals captivated my incredibly busy two-year-old son and the rhymes soothe him to sleep. He adores this book and the message just makes me melt. I would definitely recommend this book and this author.

I read to my 11 months old daughter at nights. It's our bonding time before she goes to bed. I really like the words and as she grows she will understand the book more for us to enjoy.

Nancy Tillman is one of my favourite author/illustrators.  Her pictures are realistic, beautiful and  well suited for framing.  Her writing skills dove-tail perfectly with her stunning visuals.  This book sends a message that both parent and child totally comprehend.  The unconditional love, the you are unique and mine, the I will love you no matter where or what you are, rings true on every page.  "There are things about you quite unlike any other. Things always known by your father and mother. So if you decide to be different one day, no worries...I'd know you anyway." Her gentle rhymes convey to the child his uniqueness and no matter what changes occur that his mother will recognize him and  love him no matter what.  Children will delight in the fact that if they choose to become a giraffe, a bear, or an owl that mother will always be there for them, loving them every step of the way, no matter what they may choose to become.
