Ilyana
Ilyana is an historical drama set in Germany during the Weimar and Nazi periods. The storyline follows the chequered life of Max Rieker, an NCO in the Waffen-SS, who finds himself at the cutting edge of one of the most evil and brutal regimes in history. The ordeals Max and his comrades endure, the challenges they face and the opinions they voice vividly portray what it must have been like to live through those times from a German perspective. Meticulously researched, Ilyana provides a rare ‘other side of the coin’ standpoint for the German people correcting a number of misconceptions about the men of the Waffen-SS as well as offering compelling insights as to why Adolf Hitler despised Jews and Freemasons.

John Orford was born in London, England in April, 1948 and raised as a single child in Dagenham, Essex. He attained an extended secondary school education and went on to obtain ordinary and higher national certificates in building and professional memberships as a quantity surveyor and cost engineer. His working career commenced in 1965. Initially, he worked in and around the London area on various building and civil engineering projects. In 1980 he transferred to the Oil & Gas Industry as a cost/contract administrator and worked for several major oil companies as an expat with postings to a variety of countries around the globe: Scotland, Holland, Russia, Azerbaijan, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam. In 1983, between expatriate assignments, he and the family immigrated to Perth, Western Australia. They all became Australian citizens in 1985. Nowadays, he is father to a grown-up daughter (Kim) and son (Brad) and grandfather to two very beautiful granddaughters (Jade and Izzy). He suffered a heart attack in August 2007 and received a heart transplant at Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia in November 2007. The following 2-year period was spent in rehabilitation and provided him with an opportunity to complete his first book ‘Ilyana’. Riesmann is the sequel to Ilyana.
