As a CPA and admitted introvert, networking is probably my least favorite thing to do. Sandy's book has been incredibly helpful in showing me a different way to look at networking and has made going to all types of networking and social events less much less stressful - maybe these events are even reaching the level of enjoyable. Sandy's book is full of common sense advice that the reader can immediately put into action. I really can't recommend this book enough for anyone who looks at a networking event with dread instead of anticipation.
I have been unemployed for a few months and have been trying to think of new ways to go about my job search. I know in these times the best way to get a job is to network. Networking always makes me a little uncomfortable but this book gave me a lot of good tools to aid me in my networking endeavours. I also love the "pay it forward" approach Sandy talks about. I love the quote "The idea is to make a conscious effort to increase the goodness of your corner of the world, and networking situations are the ideal environments in which to give it a go." This is so true! Not only are networking events places that you might be able to help your own situation, but you may also be able to help others during the process.
