It's obvious from the bookshelves and the big screen that heaven is on everyone's mind. All of us long to know what life after death will be like. Bestselling author John Burke is no exception. For decades, he has been studying accounts of people who have had near-death experiences (NDEs). While not every detail of individual NDEs correlate with Scripture, Burke shows how the common experiences shared by thousands of survivors clearly point to the God of the Bible and the exhilarating picture of heaven he promises.

Imagine Heaven is an inspirational journey through the Bible's picture of heaven, colored in with the real-life stories of heaven's wonders. Burke compares gripping stories of NDEs to what Scripture says about our biggest questions of heaven: Will I be myself? Will I see friends and loved ones? What will it look like? What is God like? What will we do forever? What about children and pets? This book will propel readers into an experience that will forever change their view of the life to come and the way they live life today. It also tackles the tough questions of heavenly reward and hellish NDEs. Anyone interested in NDEs or longing to imagine heaven more clearly will enjoy this fascinating and hope-filled book.

This book is unique from other Near Death Experience (NDE) in that the author himself did not have an NDE but has done extensive research of those who claim to have had one. He then discusses the ones who are the most credible, often those who have a lot to lose by sharing their experience, and even more unique, Burke highlights scripture verses that support the experiences expressed by NDE people. Personally, having just lost my Jewish mother, I found this book to be comforting and hopeful. Death is something that awaits us all, as much as we all want to put off thinking about it, and this book has made me not as fearful about what will happen when I leave this earthly body. As a Jewish believer in Jesus, I am thankful to a loving and merciful God who never gives up on us.

Scientific approach to this subject. Very well presented. Concise, precise and to the point. To be read by those who are intelligent enough to live outside of a closed minded society.

Have you ever wondered what happens after this life? Do you believe in Heaven and if so, do you live your life fully understanding what Heaven is or could be? I love the way John Burke inspires us to live life "imagining Heaven" through these near death experiences and comparing it to scripture. Whether a skeptic or a long time believer, this book will inspire you to live a life as God intended, which is to love Him and love people. If you could only imagine Heaven as described in this book (vibrant, full of love and light, and more real than this life), you will live with the knowledge of what's really important and know just how much God loves you. Albert Einstein said the following things about imagination and reality, "Imagination is everything. It is the preview for life's coming attractions. Reality is merely an outward expression of what we have chosen to accept and focus on in the world." Wouldn't you like to imagine Heaven and live in that reality?

This really is an authoritative and factual book on Heaven. John Burke has approached this topic of heaven from a practical, scientific, and scriptural view. From the perspective of people who have claimed to visit heaven after a near death experience and backed up by scripture that describes exactly what we can expect in heaven, John Burke breaks the stereotypes of heaven and clearly shows the reader what to expect. The people Burke focuses on to help describe what to expect in the next life are professionals such as doctors, professors, bankers, and even people in the Hindu & Muslim religions. These are not necessarily people with nothing to lose. Theses are people whose reputations are on the line. They describe a common core experience of heaven that falls directly in line with what can be found in stories dating back many centuries. There is a God out there who cares for you and wants each of us to be with Him forever. Many people who have experienced what awaits for us in Heaven tell stories of a Being of Light that loves them completely. In fact, more than any love they've felt before. Burke tackles tough topics such as whether we'll be with our loved ones in heaven; whether we'll be floating around in an eternal cloud; whether or not Hell exists. I'd highly recommend ordering this book. You won't be disappointed.

This book will give you something to grasp onto during those times that one question's their faith. I came into the book confident of my future in/with Christ, but I am now that much more excited and have the confidence that we as Christians should. Highly recommend this book to non-believers, believers, and those searching for some more "substantial" evidence.

Whether you're a practicing Christian or just curious about what happens after we die (and who isn't?!), this is a great exploration of what others have seen & experienced in their Near Death Experience (NDE). If what these hundreds of people say is true, the future looks truly amazing! Highly recommended.

Who hasn’t tried to imagine what heaven will be like or even if it exists. John Burke’s book, Imagine Heaven does a masterful job of investigating and showing how NDErs stories match what the Bible says we will experience in heaven. If you have any interest in learning how NDErs experiences relate to what the Bible says about what happens after we die, I highly recommend this well written book.

You don't have to be religious to appreciate the content of this book. The personal stories are very compelling and I love the hearing about the opinions from different doctors and other professionals about the subject of NDE's. If anything it's a great source of hope for the afterlife and takes some of the fear out of death.

I read and re-read John Burke’s book Imagine Heaven (BakerBooks, Grand Rapids, MI. 2015. 347 pages, paperback.) It is about near death experiences (NDE’s), when people clinically die and then revive. Imagine Heaven, as I understand it, was written to Convince, or at least provide strong evidence, that NDE’s have legitimacy for people and correspond with Bible revelation about the afterlife. Provide this information for anyone, not just theologians, and especially for those who may have personal experience with NDE’s themselves or may know people with NDE experience. Interpret NDE’s in light of Bible truth. Aid people with NDE experience (4% of population?) to come to know Christ, the “Being of Light”. Reveal what the Bible says about life after death, heaven and hell. Draw reasonable applications of NDE and Biblical truth to our daily living. Imagine Heaven has several strengths. One is revealing the frequency of NDE’s. Another is in revealing many amazingly common themes in NDE reports. But perhaps the greatest strength is in providing a Biblical understanding of these experiences. Burke brings to bear Bible passages and theology on nearly every other page of the book, and his interpretations of passages are obvious and in my opinion fairly accurate. This forms a great introduction to Bible eschatology for some who are either new to the concepts or who have been reluctant to delve into it. His straight forward style of writing makes the theology easily understandable and relevant. This is particularly so in the latter chapters of the book, where he proceeds to expound good eschatological concepts, one after another, and to show how NDE reports jive with them. My interest in the book is largely theological. It is written in a style that does not lend itself to theological analysis. One reviewer commented that it was written like a “detective novel”. In the Introduction (page 17), the author says “This isn’t a theology textbook—it reads more like a novel.” Indeed, the writing style is straightforward and non-technical. There are short stories of NDE’s. There is no novel-type plot line. Of particular interest are the chapter on hell and the discussion about "life reviews" that so many with NDE's report.

This book was excellent! There IS evidence for life after death, and we can read about it here.

Author and pastor John Burke's Imagine Heaven is a bit dry at the start as the author carefully lays the premise of NDE's and heaven. As his book moves forward the writing perks up and becomes more interesting. I do love his elegant explanation of John 3:16 found in chapter 11 and how this verse explains how NDErs experience compassion rather than condemnation during their experience. I noted, and loved, how the author placed a chapter concerning pets at the end of his book. Any pet lover would read to the end of the book (or some may cheat and that's written with a smile) to read whether their pets will be found in heaven. I liked his explanation which I will not divulge here as I would love to have people buy his book. If you are looking for a book that offers hope and joy, I would highly recommend reading Imagine Heaven. Recommend.

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, Santa Claus and the Easter bunny all real food or and the one ring real this book has it all but shouldn't it be in same section as the my little pony fan fiction. God can be real but the things in this but are not save your money.
