Overview

In the Red Zone by Crista McHugh

All-Star linebacker Frank Kelly is as well-known for his off-the-field hits as he is for his on-field ones. When a dance club brawl ends with him in handcuffs again, he's rescued by a well-connected woman who can get the charges dropped in exchange for a small favor. If he'll agree to play the part of a doting boyfriend for two months, she'll keep him out of the slammer and help restore his reputation.

Kiana Dyer may be the daughter of a Hall of Fame football player, but the charity organization she took over when he died isn't getting the media attention she'd hoped for. A staged romance with Frank Kelly is just the ticket she needs to get in the spotlight. As the lines between fake and real start to blur, she begins to wonder if bailing him out was the best call she's ever made. Just when everything seems to be falling perfectly in place, scandal surrounds her charity, and she's the one left scrambling to clear her name.

I totally got lost in this story, I adored the characters and the connection they had. The 'Romeo' - player, with insecurities when it came to women, who fell for the single mother, independent, strong, capable woman, who was fighting to keep her father's legacy alive. The connection, attraction, pull for each other between Kiana and Frank is immediate and forceful. They try to fight it, both for their own reasons, but it is strong and real. Frank, the constant flirt, is adorable trying to do his best to be a gentleman, because his respect and admiration towards Kiana. The way their relationship grew, slowly but surely, was a true delight. They worked on their issues, learned to trust each other, and enjoyed each others company. Frank and Kiana's teamwork and dedication towards the foundation is admirable. They face the threat, deceit, and danger together, standing by each other no matter what. The way Frank connected with Kiana's daughter immediately, was just cute! This story captured my mind, it is filled with humor, sexy banter, family connection, dangerous moments that made me hold my breath, plot twist that kept the story going, charming characters that are likable, alluring, and attractive, and romance that captured my heart ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

In the Red Zone (Kelly Brothers #6) by Crista McHugh Linebacker Frank Kelly is known to get himself in trouble.  When he gets arrested for fighting at a club, Kiana Dyer, gets him out in exchange for pretending to be her boyfriend to help boost interest in her charity organization. You cannot help but like Frank.  He’s the brother who always lets his red-headed temper get him in trouble. He is very well-connected. He has wonderful ideas and acts on them.  When he commits to something, he goes all out. I enjoyed Kiana’s character.  After her Hall of Fame Football father, Marshall Dyer, passed away she took over his charity.  It is a noble organization that helps acquire football equipment to less fortunate kids Kiana understandably, has some trust issues she needs to overcome in the story.  In the Red Zone has an interesting plot.  It is a book about family, trust, and motivation.  It is very believable and heartwarming.  It has some attention-grabbing twist.  I like how some of the Kelly Family is involved in the story.   While part of a series, the reader would have no problem following this book on its own or out of order.  You just wouldn’t have as much appreciation for some things they mention in the story.  For example, Frank tells Kiana how his brother Ben and Hailey met, which is in the start of book 2 – which I loved.  I appreciated the similarities in that particular situation. Frank Kelly is well know for his football skills and for his romantic conquests. His reputation as a Romeo is in jeopardy. He's fallen for Kiana, his teammates sister, but she is leading him a merry chase. He wants to know what she's not telling him. Will Frank get his heart's desire? Kiana and Frank are well matched. She is being strong for her daughter. She will do everything in her power to protect her child. She is haunted by what happened to her own mother. Frank is a kind, gentle man who has flirting down to a science. He doesn't want to settle down just yet, but this woman makes him realize what he could have. Crista McHugh has written a wonderful heartwarming story that captured me. The characters are amazing and the romance is sizzling. I love the Kelly Family. They are there for each other and love unconditionally. Frank loves Kiana and wants to help her heal from an abusive relationship. His gentleness touched me. I wanted a HEA. This story is a wonderful combination of romance, painful secrets and healing. I loved In The Red Zone.

Another wonderful installment of the Kelly Brothers series by Crista McHugh. Seriously, I don't typically read a lot of contemporary romance books but the past year or so there have been a couple fantasy authors whose books I enjoyed who have started bringing out non-fantasy books...and because they are still well-written, I love them all the same. Also, not going to lie, I'm a sucker for a redhead, so it was no surprise that I fell for Frank just about as quickly as Kiana did. From the beginning one of the characters struck me as being a little off and I thought he would be a part of the scandal towards the end. Being right and calling it in chapter one did not ruin the story for me at all. These are the types of stories where you know everything will work out in the end. Oh, and I really liked Savannah. So cute. And that last chapter! Go Frank. I can't believe there's only one book left. I hope Gideon doesn't disappoint. Then again, with Crista McHugh in charge, I'm sure it will be a satisfying conclusion to the series.

In The Red Zone by Crista McHugh is the 6th book in her wonderful Kelly Brothers series. I was hooked immediately when Crista said she was doing a new series using the background theme of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Now 6 books later, it has been a blast. Crista manages to give us sweet romances with wonderful couples, and terrific storylines. In the Red Zone belongs to Frank Kelly and Kiana Dyer is the woman he was destined to meet. Frank is a famous pro football player, and Kiana meets him through her brother, who is Frank’s teammate. Kiana is trying to raise funds for the foundation she runs in honor of her deceased father; a children’s charity is the beneficiary. Kiana tries to steer clear of Frank, whom everyone knows is womanizer, and her brother calls Romeo. What follows is a fun romance; with Frank doing all he can to seduce the gorgeous Kiana, as well as helping her with the foundation gala. Frank uses all his sports contacts to get freebies to offer up for auction. All this will bring them together, but not all is easy. McHugh has created a multi faceted storyline, which covers abuse, gambling, a mixed racial romance, and a child born out of wedlock. Frank and Kiana, despite their determination of not getting serious, find themselves falling hard for each other, with the steam rising along the way. The story becomes a bit more intense, as danger rises from unexpected sources. This was a fun romance, which I enjoyed thoroughly, as well as an exciting finish. I look forward to the next Kelly Brother.

In the Red Zone is the sixth book in Crista McHugh’s The Kelly Brothers series. This is the story of Frank Kelly who is a football hero who has a reputation as a ladies man. He always seems to find trouble and when he encounters his teammate’s sister in a bar trouble definitely finds him once again. Kiana Dyer runs her family’s foundation. She has a troubled past that she does everything in her power to avoid. When Frank saves her from her ex, sparks immediately begin to fly. Frank sets out on a course to help raise funds for her foundation but also has an alternative reason for assisting Kiana and that’s Kiana herself. As Frank develops a relationship with Kiana, we also see a sweeter side to him as he discovers one of her many secrets. I absolutely loved In the Red Zone. I loved seeing Frank grow as a person and help Kiana deal with her past. For once he sees a relationship as more than just a fling. I love how Ms. McHugh deals with the blending of the two families. I’ve read all of the books in the series to date and I look forward to reading the last book in the Kelly series. I’d like to disclose that I received an advanced copy of In the Red Zone in exchange for a fair and honest review.

If ever there has been an author that has written a worthwhile read it is Crista McHugh. I received a copy of In the Red Zone(The Kelly Brothers-Book 6) for an honest review. I loved it so much that now I want to read the entire series in one fell swoop. This book is about so much more than two people falling in love. Kiana and Frank are both searching for their place in the world. Two underestimated people by themselves and their peers. These two lost souls manage to find a connection in each other. The growth each character shows throughout the story is evident in the steps they take to become better for themselves and each other. With The Kelly Brothers series, Ms. McHugh manages to create emotional reads that leave you craving more. I already own The Sweetest Seduction (The Kelly Brothers-Book 1). Can't wait to discover the rest of this series.
