Berta Vias Mahou est née à Madrid en 1961. Diplômée en histoire ancienne, elle a traduit en espagnol Ödön von Horváth, Stefan Zweig, Arthur Schnitzler, Joseph Roth et Goethe. Elle est l'auteur de plusieurs essais, recueils de nouvelles et romans, parmi lesquels Venían a buscarlo a él ( Ils sont venus le chercher, Acantilado, 2010), pour lequel elle obtient le prix Dulce Chacón en 2011.
Berta Vias a reçu le 26e prix Torrente Ballester avec Yo soy El Otro ( Je suis L'Autre, Acantilado, 2015).
