Jedidiah Cole, Frontier Scout: The Promised Land Healed
The fifth chapter in the lives of Jedidiah Cole and his family. The Revolutionary War is finally over. Or is it? While the many husbands, fathers, brothers and sons begin the long trek from the fields of war, in their absence their families have had to endure many hardships to maintain a livelihood in the wild frontier. It has been years since some of these families have seen their menfolk. Some will wait longer, until they finally grasp that their men are not returning. The courageous sacrifice of these men has earned the right to freedom for their families but at an exorbitant cost to their loved ones who remain behind. Each soldier returning will have the first question needing answer weighing heavily on his mind: “Did my family survive?” The second being: “How did they manage to, and how did they fair?”

As these men hasten to make the long return trip home, what will they be greeted with? Did their families survive the harsh winters? The sporadic diseases? The Indian depredations on the homesteads? See it through the eyes of the returning. The promised land has been secured, but now it must be healed.

About the Author

J.W. Holden is an accomplished author in many genres. His writings are private glimpses into his own real life experiences as seen through the eyes of the literary characters in his books. As an avid adventurer and world traveler, Holden has worked both domestically and overseas as a security contractor, survival instructor and corporate security consultant. His writing has been a constant pursuit in companion with his other employments. As a ghost writer for both outdoor and gun magazines, he has also contributed much in print in the form of "survival how to" and security tactics. Using real and imagined historical events, Holden crafts stories that teach lessons in survival and self-sufficiency through fast-paced, entertaining story lines. He is often requested by special interest groups to lecture publicly on a wide variety of topics including disaster preparedness. He currently serves as head medic for an elite SAR/SRT team.
