This was my first time to read any of the writings of Sam D. Pakan. Jesse's Seed is a well developed and well written story that will captivate fellow readers within the first two chapters. Once I got into the development of the characters of Jesse and David, I was spellbound and could not put the book down. The reader will find that Mr Pakan's writings are highly intelligible and will lend itself to expand one's knowledge in the area of a time in our World's history that should never be forgotten. I have read many World War II fictional and nonfictional books in my lifetime, but none have been as captivating, entertaining, and leaves the reader wanting for more. Three-fourths the way through the book I found myself looking not to see how many pages I had left to read, but out of anticipation for more to read. As I entered the last two chapters of the book, I found myself wanting more, wanting to know more about all the wonderful characters I had met within the confounds of the pages of Jesse's Seed. As an avid fan of the TV series Downton Abbey that has recently concluded, I find myself having the same feeling with Jesse's Seed irresistibly wanting to know and experience more about the world in which the character's David & Jesse live. This book is truly a work of art. I truly hope there will be a sequel to this book. The author leaves you with a well develop ending, but I promise you, you will want more. This book has everything from anyone who is an avid reader to someone who is simply compelled by a great story line. It has much to offer people of all ages, men and women. If you are a fan of authors Nicholas Sparks, Julian Fellowes, or even Nora Roberts you will love Sam Pakan's book Jesse's Seed. The book is full of history, love, betrayal, mystery, and above all a message of Christian faith! This story has the compelling articulation and elements of a great modern novel or classic literature. Great job Mr. Pakan!

This book makes me wish I had unlimited time to binge-read. Intelligent, suspenseful, spiritually and psychologically probing, inhabited with characters whose too-real struggles you want to continue resolving. I don't want to give away too much, but this novel does what my favorite novels do: make you love the one you originally resent. I most enjoyed the cathartic conclusion, and David's refreshingly humorous wit in moments of confrontation.

David is a young man living with his father on a farm. He finds peace in a colt that he buys off a neighbor. He learns to have faith in the horse as well as the horse learning to trust in him. They are two broke souls in need of repairing. War soon comes to David's doorstep at home and in his country. While the war is fought at home between family, David is off to fight a much bigger war.  This book was pretty good to me. It told a sad tale and it kept me reading. I find peace between the horse and David in a world gone mad. World War 2 is raging on, his family life is in shambles with a reclusive bitter father and a wife he doesnt love, and David uses his time as a soldier to run away from the bad that awaits him. David's story is a sad one, but he dreams big and once away from all the pain of home, his story takes a life changing turn.  Overall this book was written well and was an interesting and soul touching read. It was full of action, drama, and hope. It is a bit slow reading, but it is a good story....Stormi

Powerful and poetic, this is a story that will keep you awake at night. The characters become a part of you as does the flow. This is one of my favorite books of all times.
