Overview

Jackson Arquette is an 18-year veteran detective who has been assigned to work a homicide investigation. While inspecting the crime scene, he finds that the victim had been horribly mutilated with their body parts scattered about the scene. After locating one of the legs of this victim as it stuck out, foot first, from beyond a pile of garbage bags, a trail of blood flowing downward on the wall near it, led Arquette to then discover the other leg atop of a fire escape directly above him. This one scene marks the beginning to a trail of unexplained murders soon to follow, one after another.

Meanwhile, at a psychiatric hospital on the outskirts of the city, a patient by the name of Karman Anderson is in a session with her therapist discussing traumatic episodes she experienced during her teenage years. These episodes resulted from being, both, mentally and physically abused during the times she that was bullied. Over the many years, Karman has struggled mentally with trying to forgive her tormentors...until recently, after meeting a friend, she decided to seek restitution in her own way.

As both of these characters' stories unfold, they will ultimately find out why their paths have crossed.

N.J. Porter is a first-time author who has been working in the counseling field for the past few years. After completing his service time in the military, he attained his BA degree and chose this career path after discovering his natural ability to connect with people in need. Moreover, he also found that helping others brought him personal satisfaction. As N.J. Porter started reading reports on bullying, the novel Karman was soon inspired. His goal for this story is to help reduce bullying incidents by focusing on how it has the potential to adversely affect those whom fall victim to it, ultimately leaving them challenged with mental and/or emotional distresses. This, while also encouraging those whom enact this kind of behavior to rethink how their mischievous actions could cause long-term psychological harm.
