Karrie's Thorn

One girl's faith journey from abuse to personal healing and empowerment.

All Karrie wants is to fit in, but growing up in an alcoholic and abusive home does not make that easy. Her struggles take up most of her energy, and while her church seems to be aware of the violence in her home life, they are uncertain as to what actions they should take. Karrie has questions about Christ's suffering and how it relates to her suffering which the adults in her life don't seem to understand.

When she is removed from the only life she has ever known, she feels as if her life will unravel as she tries to hang on to her Christian faith in the foster care system.

Follow Karrie as she undergoes a journey of faith for answers that only a perfect Father can provide.

About the Author

Cheryl Kincaid grew up under the influence of the local Christian church who parented her in her walk with Christ. She found faith in Christ as a young child, but her family life was an unstable one, so her relationship with Christ became an anchor of stability for her. Since childhood, her heart’s desire has been to proclaim the love and healing power of Jesus Christ. To prepare herself for ministry, she studied Marriage and Family Therapy at Bethel Seminary in San Diego and completed a Masters of Divinity at San Francisco Theological Seminary. In college, while completing an internship at a local church she started a ministry of facilitating support groups women who had been affected by violence called “Growing Through The Pain.” She was ordained in 2003 and has pastored three churches. She is the author of three books, Hearing the Gospel Through Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" which is the winner of the 2013 Independent Christian Publishers Illumination Reward for Bible Study, The Little Clay Pot, and The Little Candle That Was Frightened of the Dark.
