It was while I was renovating the Libby Ranch in Ojai that I got a call from Victoria Jackson. She invited me to come and see the property that she had just bought. I thought before visiting her ranch she should visit mine. She remarked that unlike the Wallace Neff masterpiece, her house was all about the view and the landscape whereas mine was all about
the interiors.
Without doubt, this property is one of the most spectacular I’ve seen. On one side are the majestic views of the Santa Barbara mountain ranch, on the opposite side is the Pacific Ocean, and in the distance is the landscape of Santa Barbara and its surrounds. For being as close to Los Angeles as the property lies, its truly paradise.
I was not put off by the fact that the main residence was an early nineties nondescript horseshoe-shaped house that lies at the summit. There was great space, but the flow to the house somehow didn’t work. My brief from Victoria was to do what I wanted.
